Provincials will be held over two days on Zoom with more fexible options for our volunteer judges. SEDA could not do the work we do without the commitment and generosity of our volunteer judges. Thank you, on behalf of SEDA and our debaters!

We are hard at work determining the provincial tiers. Qualifed teams will be sent an invitation within the coming days. Please visit our website for more details.

Things to remember: Teams who do not provide a judge may be unable to compete. Judging Options - judges have the option to judge on one or both debate days. Judges' Briefng - judges will be required to attend a briefng on the evening of Friday March 12th or the morning of Saturday March 13th.

SEDA wishes you all the best as you prepare for this tournament physically distanced, but together.

Refections From Debaters

As a debater for [the past] 5 years..., I can truly say that my experience has been helpful to me academically, socially, and personally... Even with the limitations posed this year, I continue to learn and grow through those aspects and more. I joined debate shy and unknowing of many social aspects of life... [I]am now confdent enough to say that I enjoy learning about [a] variety of motions starting from the expenses of university education, to international relations. Debate has taught me incredibly useful speaking skills, helped me learn from [the] successful and unsuccessful times, and opened my knowledge on topics that affect me. I also continue to meet many people who I am grateful to call my friends, and mentors.

The limitations of COVID-19 have not stopped the great debate experience, as I was able to attend virtual workshops, tournaments, and learn from others. Regardless of the number of years you have done debate, it is a rewarding and benefcial experience, that you should not shy [away] from joining even during the current global circumstances. -Sahasro B., Grade 9,
