The East Huntington Bridge connects Huntington, West Virginia and Proctorville, Ohio through WV 106 and OH 755. It was completed in 1985.

Scope and Content:

This collection consists of a binder of blueprints for the East Huntington Bridge (19x12 inches, 281 pages) and a red and gold photograph album containing 163 photographs of the construction of the East Huntington Bridge, its opening day ceremony, and the 1985 Marlington, West Virginia Flood. The blueprint binder is a reprint of the "West Virginia Department of Highways Plans for Construction" (State Project No. X306-106- 0.00 07). The first page is inscribed: "W.Va. Dept. of Highways Project Engineer Stan Meadows gave these prints to Winslow Terry on Nov. 14, 1985". The photograph album contains 163 photographs (each 5 x 3½ in.), a flattened penny, and a ceremonial brochure with four autographs. The photographs and extensive accompanying captions cover the construction of the East Huntington Bridge, its opening day ceremony, and the 1985 Marlinton, WV Flood. The bulk of the photographs detail the later construction of the bridge with the oldest dated photo beginning in December 1984. There are photographs of the opening day ceremony which was attended by then West Virginia Governor, Arch A. Moore Jr. Also included in the album are a flattened penny from the ceremony and four autographs including that of Governor Moore, Ray Barnhart (Federal Dept. of Transportation), L.B. Wickline (S.R.C. Project Engineer), and a fourth unidentified individual. The last roughly third of the photographs detail recovery efforts for the 1985 Marlinton Flood.
