Capitals Prospects Showcase Notes The will compete in a three-team rookie tournament to be held at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla., from Sept. 8-11. The 2018 Prospects Showcase will also feature top prospects from the Nashville Predators and . Capitals prospects will face the Lightning prospects once and the Predators prospects twice during the round-robin tournament.

The Capitals’ tournament roster includes prospects who are under contract and recent Capitals draft picks who have not been signed yet. In addition, several undrafted and free agent amateur players will participate.

Media Information Players will be made available to the media beginning five minutes after the conclusion of each game in the Capitals locker room. If the media wishes to interview a player who is not present in the locker room, please contact Tommy Chalk who will locate the player. The tournament precedes the official opening of training camp on Sept. 14 at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. The Capitals are scheduled to play their first preseason game on Sept. 16 against the at TD Garden.

Media members may enter through the media entrance located on the south side of the arena. Credentials for the prospects tournament will be available at this entrance. The elevator to the press box is located next to the Everblades’ main office located outside of section 108. There will not be a parking fee for patrons attending this event.

Alexander Alexeyev Defenseman (27) Drafted by WSH in the first round, 31st overall, in the 2018 NHL Draft

Alexeyev recorded 37 points (7g, 30a) in 45 games with the Red Deer Rebels (WHL) last season. The 6’4”, 196- pound defenseman led Red Deer defensemen in goals, assists and points and registered five points (2g, 3a) in three postseason games. Alexeyev also represented Russia at the 2016 Under-18 World Championship and the 2016 Memorial.

Kristofers Bindulis Defenseman (84) Signed with WSH as a free agent on March 7, 2017

Bindulis registered 15 points (4g, 11a) in 34 games with the (ECHL) in 2017-18. The Riga, Latvia, native tied for the team lead in overtime goals (2) and finished the season third among South Carolina defensemen in points per game (0.44). In addition, Bindulis appeared in 12 games with the (AHL), recording one assist and six penalty minutes.

Kody Clark Right Wing (71) Drafted by WSH in the second round, 47th overall, in the 2018 NHL Draft

Clark recorded 39 points (18g, 21a) in 56 games with Ottawa 67’s (OHL) last season. The 6’1”, 179-pound right wing ranked fifth on the team in points and goals and sixth in assists. Clark registered 12 points (7g, 5a) in the opening 15 games of the season, passing his point total during his rookie OHL season with Ottawa (7g, 4a in 57 games). Clark is the son of Wendel Clark, who was drafted first overall in the 1985 NHL Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Martin Fehervary Defenseman (42) Drafted by WSH in the second round, 46th overall, in the 2018 NHL Draft

Fehervary registered seven points (1g, 6a) in 42 games with IK in HockeyAllsvenskan (-2) last season. The Bratislava, Slovakia, native also appeared in one game for HV71 in the . Fehervary has represented Slovakia in the Under-20 World Junior Championship each of the last two years and was named a top-3 player on his team in 2017.

Eric Florchuk Center (58) Drafted by WSH in the seventh round, 217th overall, in the 2018 NHL Draft

Florchuk registered 49 points (16g, 33a) in 71 games with the and Saskatoon Blades (WHL) in 2017- 18. The 6'2", 175-pound center recorded seven multi-point efforts in 28 games after joining Saskatoon last season. The Edmonton, AB., native represented Canada at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in 2017, earning a silver medal.

Tobias Geisser Defenseman (46) Drafted by WSH in the fourth round, 120th overall, in the 2017 NHL Draft

Geisser recorded six points (2g, 4a) in 38 games with EV in in the National League (Swiss) last season. The 6’4”, 201-pound defensemen also represented in the 2018 Under-20 World Junior Championship, skating in five games. Geisser was named a top-three player on Switzerland during the tournament.

Shane Gersich Left Wing (63) Drafted by WSH in the fifth round, 134th overall, in the 2014 NHL Draft

Gersich appeared in three games with the Capitals in 2017-18. The Chaska, Minn., native made his NHL debut on March 28 versus the and recorded an assist in his third career game on April 7 against New Jersey. In addition, Gersich appeared in two Stanley Cup playoff games. Gersich recorded 29 points (13g, 16a) in 40 games with the University of North Dakota (NCAA) in his junior season in 2017-18 and ranked second on the team in goals. Gersich also recorded four game-winning goals, tied for the most on the Fighting Hawks last season.

Connor Hobbs Defenseman (36) Drafted by WSH in the fifth round, 143rd overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft

Hobbs recorded 16 points (3g, 13a) in 44 games with the Hershey Bears (AHL) last season. The 6’1”, 196-pound defenseman tied for fifth on the team in game-winning goals (2) and was third among Hershey defensemen in points per game (.36) in 2017-18.

Juuso Ikonen Right Wing/Left Wing (61) Signed with WSH as a free agent on May 2, 2018

Ikonen recorded 26 points (12g, 14a) in 49 regular season games and five points (3g, 2a) in eight playoff games with Brynäs IF (SHL) last season. The 5'9", 172-pound also represented Finland at the Euro Hockey Tour in 2017- 18 and recorded five points (1g, 4a) in eight games.

Johansen tallied 27 points (6g, 21a) in 74 games with the Hershey Bears (AHL) in 2017-18. The 6’2”, 187-pound defensemen tied for first among Hershey defensemen in goals and power play goals (2) and second in assists and points last season.

Axel Jonsson-Fjallby Left Wing (45) Drafted by WSH in the fifth round, 147th overall, in the 2016 NHL Draft

Jonsson-Fjallby recorded 16 points (7g, 9a) in 42 regular season games and eight points (6g, 2a) in 11 playoff games with Djurgårdens IF (SHL) in 2017-18. The , Sweden, native also led Sweden to a silver medal in the 2018 U-20 World Junior Championship, earning four points (2g, 2a) in seven games.

Kammerer recorded 31 points (6g, 25a) in 52 regular season games with Düsseldorfer EG (DEL) last season. The 6'1", 185-pound forward also represented Germany at the Deutschland Cup in 2017-18 and recorded one assist in three games. The Dusseldorf, Germany, native finished with 26 points (15g, 11a) in 51 games with Düsseldorfer EG during the 2016-17 season, where he was named DEL Rookie of the Year. In 125 career games in the DEL, Kammerer recorded 61 points (22g, 39a).

Alex Kannok-Leipert Defenseman (53) Drafted by WSH in the sixth round, 161st overall, in the 2018 NHL Draft

Kannok-Leipert recorded 21 points (5g, 16a) in 60 games with the (WHL) last season. The 5'11", 193-pound defenseman played for the Regina Pat Canadians in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League (SMHL) in the 2016-17 season, leading all SMHL defensemen with 35 points (10g, 25a) in 44 games. Additionally, the Regina, Sask., native earned Top Defenseman honors and a spot on the SMHL First All-Star Team and captained the team to a SMHL Championship.

Beck Malenstyn Left Wing (47) Drafted by WSH in the fifth round, 145th overall, in the 2016 NHL Draft

Malenstyn registered 33 points (17g, 15a) in 42 games with the Hitmen and (WHL) in 2017-18. The 6’2”, 194-pound left wing recorded another 11 points (4g, 7a) in 26 games with Swift Current during the WHL Playoffs and helped the Broncos win the WHL Championship last season.

Marthinsen registered 31 points (23g, 8a) in 23 games with Almtuna's junior team (Sweden) during the 2017-18 season, ranking first on the team in goals and second in points. Garrett Pilon Center/Right Wing (40) Drafted by WSH in the third round, 87th overall, in the 2016 NHL Draft

Pilon recorded 80 points (34g, 46a) in 69 games with the and (WHL) last season. The 5’11”, 187-pound right wing set WHL career highs in goals, assists and points in 2017-18 and recorded 24 multi- point games. In addition, Pilon led Everett with 28 points (11g, 17a) in 22 playoff games and helped the Silvertips reach the WHL Championship.

Brian Pinho Center (64) Drafted by WSH in the sixth round, 174th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft

Pinho registered 32 points (12g, 20a) in 40 games with Providence College (NCAA) in 2017-18. Pinho tied a career high in goals with the Friars last season and finished second on the team in scoring. Pinho, who served as last season, was awarded the team’s Lou Lamoriello Award (Team MVP) for the second-straight season, earned the Hockey East’s Best Defensive Forward Award, the Frank Jones Award as New England’s Best Defensive Forward and was named to Hockey East’s Third All-Star Team.

Samsonov posted a 12-9-1 record with a 2.31 goals against average and a .926 in 26 regular season games and a 1-2 record with a 2.30 goals against average and a .913 save percentage in five playoff games with Metallurg (KHL) last season. The Magnitogorsk, Russia, native was ranked as the top European goaltender by NHL Central Scouting prior to the 2015 NHL Draft.

Jonas Siegenthaler Defenseman (34) Drafted by WSH in the second round, 57th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft

Siegenthaler tallied 12 points (6g, 6a) in 75 games with the Hershey Bears (AHL) in 2017-18. The Zurich, Switzerland, native ranked third on the team in games played and tied for first among Hershey defensemen in goals.

Sutter registered 53 points (25g, 28a) in 68 games with the Everett Silvertips (WHL) last season. The 6'3", 203-pound right wing ranked fifth on the team in goals, sixth in points and seventh in assists in 2017-18. In addition, Sutter recorded another 19 points (9g, 10a) in 21 playoff games with Everett last season. Sutter is the son of former NHL player Ron Sutter.
