Scottish Parliament Fact Sheet MSPs by Constituency and Region: Session 5 19 May 2021 MSPs: Historical Series

This Fact Sheet provides a list of all Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) who served during Session 5 (12 May 2016 - 4 May 2021), arranged alphabetically by the constituency or region that they represented.

Each person in is represented by 8 MSPs – 1 constituency MSP and 7 regional MSPs. A region is a larger area which covers a number of constituencies.

This Fact Sheet is divided into 2 parts. The first section, ‘MSPs by Constituency’, lists the Scottish Parliament constituencies in alphabetical order. It includes the name and party of the MSP elected to represent each constituency and the corresponding region for each constituency. The second section, ‘MSPs by Region’, lists the 8 political regions of Scotland in alphabetical order. It includes the name and party of the MSPs in the order they were elected to represent each region.

She was replaced by . 11 resigned from the Scottish Green Party on 18 December 2020. 12 Sarah Boyack was appointed as regional MSP for Lothian on 17 July 2019. She replaced Kezia Dugdale. 13 was elected as a member of the Scottish Labour Party. He was suspended from the Scottish Labour Party on 15 November 2017 and reinstated on 15 December 2017. 14 died on 7 December 2016. He was replaced by Bill Bowman.

15 Bill Bowman was appointed as regional MSP for North East Scotland on 9 December 2016. He replaced Alex Johnstone. 16 Rachael Hamilton resigned as regional member for South Scotland on 2 May 2017. She was replaced by . She was subsequently elected in the Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire by-election on 8 June 2017. 17 Michelle Ballantyne was appointed as regional MSP for South Scotland on 17 May 2017, following the resignation of Rachael Hamilton. She resigned from the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party on 24 November 2020 and joined the Reform UK party on 11 January 2021. 18 Elected as a member of the Scottish Labour Party, took voluntary suspension from the Scottish Labour Party when he was elected to the post of Presiding Officer on 12 May 2016.
