He is indeed the main architect behind the shaping up of RTCIT and has truly carried forward the legacy of Sri. Ram Tahal Choudhary. Because of the exuberant vigour and untiring efforts of Mr. Singh, RTCIT has burgeoned in a short span of time. Be it the architecturally majestic buildings, the ever-advancing system or the state-of-the- art ambience, it all bears a stamp of its distinguished Director. He has been working day and night to make sure RTCIT reaches even greater heights. An unassuming, tenacious and upright man, he is dedicated to create a vibrant environment to promote academic excellence. He has been instrumental in inducing innovative Prof. A.P. Singh administrative practices, latest teaching methodologies and Director infrastructure of international standards, previously unknown in the state.

2 Our Assistant Director rof. Avinash Chandra Sinha did his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering Pfrom BIT, Sindri in 1970 and M.Tech. from IIT, Kharagpur in 1974. He has over 40 years of experience in leadership roles in the areas of manufacturing, project management, product development and education across industries like non-ferrous metal, atomic energy, petroleum coke and technological institution. Prof. Sinha has most ably led Profit centers/SBU, focused on cost control, process and productivity improvement, on-time project delivery and increasing revenue/profits in the Industries like Hindalco Industries Limited, Renukoot (UP) and Muri (), Uranium Corporation of Ltd. and H.D.C. (West Bengal). These all bear an everlasting stint of Prof. Sinha as an efficient and competent personality.

A nonpareil, perky and past master, Prof. Sinha has been Prof. A.C. Sinha performing the grueling task of fetching laurels to RTCIT for the Asst. Director last seven years.

Our Principal r. Shambhu Nath Prasad, an engineering graduate from NIT, DJameshedpur, has done Masters from IIT, Kanpur and Ph.D. from IIT (BHU). He has a very long experience in Research and Development Center of Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) “A Maharatna Company”. He has contributed in several new products development and process optimization which have resulted in substantial benefit to SAIL and other organizations of the country. The recipient of “Indranil Award” for outstanding contribution in ferrous metallurgy has numerous research publications in reputed national and international journals. He has also been a reviewer and editor of numerous national and international journals. Dr. Prasad has eight patents mostly as first inventor mainly on weather resistant steel, LPG steel and strap steel which are for general public use. He had been a member of board of studies in Dr. Shambhu Nath Prasad NIFFT, Ranchi. He is a member of several national and international Principal institutions such as IIM, IIF, MGMI & AIST.

It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to , Ranchi and SBTE Ranchi. Since its inception in 2008 by GAV SAMITI, a 40-year-old trust, RTCIT has been striving arduously to serve a large number of denizens and igniting the spark of quality education in the remotest and inaccessible areas of the state. iving virtually in the ICE (Information, Communication and Entertainment) age, we recognize the Limportance of INFORMATION as the most significant input in the making of intellectual, global technocrats. Recognizing the potential of Library in providing information services to meet the requirements of the students’ academic and Research Programmes as well as to cater to the teaching fraternity, the Library was set up as one of the key divisions of RTCIT in 2008 itself. Since then it has been acting as the prime information and learning Resource center of the college. This technically advanced library is home to over 17000 books, national and international journals, maga- zines and many more reading materials. With a well-furnished and calm environment the library is spread in area over 500 sq. meters to accommodate large number of students. Digital library with access to a large number of e-books is also available. Learning resources like DELNET, NPTEL, ORACLE, etc. are easily accessible from the systems. The digital library provides for the quest for all-round knowledge. Students with the help of hi-tech equipment and tools, explore newer horizons of information and knowledge. The Library remains open till late in the evening, apart from the regular day timings.

7 Hostel Facilities

he Institute has separate hostel facility for both girls and boys within the campus with the following Tfeatures: l Excellent catering provision at affordable rates. l Discipline is the buzzword throughout the campus with an absolute cozy ambience. l It is endowed with all the primary facilities like electricity, water, clean washrooms, etc. l There is uninterrupted power supply by JSEB. Also, back-up generators are readily available. l Solar street lighting is provided everywhere across the campus. l There is a separate kitchen and mess as well which ensures timely hygienic and nutritious meals to the inmates. l There is a Matron along with security guards to look after the safety concerns. l The boarders have access to all the academic, transport, medical and recreational amenities and facilities 24x7. Canteen & Mess ess facility is provided to all the students living in the hostel, Meals include breakfast, lunch, evening Mtea and dinner. The mess is under the able stewardship of a mess committee comprising student representatives and the Hostel Superintendent. Availability of quality food items, fresh seasonal vegetables and tidiness are the top priority. A centralized canteen in the campus provides breakfast, lunch, tea, snacks, etc. during the institute timing. The canteen area has been increased recently to match the increase in the number of students. Proper care is taken to make sure clean and hygienic measures are practiced.

8 Anti-Ragging Measures

TCIT has already earned the reputation Ras an institution that is free from the menace of ragging. This has become possible because of the prevalent ambience of camaraderie cultivated persistently among students from different regions of the state and even country. The Institute takes all necessary measures to prevent, in fact, eradicate the very source of ragging including misconduct by any senior student to intimidate any junior student, which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship and trauma, any psychological or physical harm. Ragging is completely prohibited within the campus premises. If anyone is found guilty of ragging or even abetting ragging, he or she is liable to be penalized in accordance with regulation as well as under the provision of any penal law. A high level anti-ragging committee has been functional for a long time now to look into all such matters in an unbiased and fair manner. In other words, the Institute is 100% ragging free.

The department has a 1200 sq. meters huge workshop having Machine shop, Welding Shop, Foundry, Fitting Shop, Carpentry Shop, Hot Working Shop etc. having large number of machines and systems. 21 Workshop ngineering workshop is a well-organized place where students acquire knowledge on the operation Eof numerous equipment involved in fabrication and production. The workshop practice course makes students competent in handling practical work in engineering environment. It has all the tools and machines to provide hands on training to the students. Machine shop is well equipped with Lathe, Shaper, Milling machine, Drilling machine, Power Hacksaw, etc. Under the Welding Shop, conventional and modern types of welding facilities such as Arc welding, Gas welding, Gas cutting, TIG and MIG welding are available. All necessary appliances like apron, shoe, hand gloves, eye protective glass, etc. are provided during the workshop practice.

ll students of the institute, irrespective Aof their individual branches are taught common subjects like Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Communicative English and Behavioural Science. It works hand in hand with every branch. The Institute takes utmost care that each RTCITian is not only a thorough technical asset but also a dynamic personality to match with. The cell also realizes this objective by conducting in house trainings and facilitating industry exposure trips & trainings. These trainings include technical, communicative, personality and other aspects as well. A Common Communicative Training Module (in English language) is run for all students in the second year with a view to instill the much-required confidence and ease. 27 Co-Curricular Activities TCIT gives considerable focus to co-curricular and extra- curricular activities of its students. The Institute takes special interest in the holistic development of its students Rand hence has a balanced blend of cultural and sporting activities. All Prominent Days such as Republic Day, Independence Day. Engineer’s Day, Saraswati Puja, Vishwakarma Puja, etc. are celebrated and students participate zealously in them. UTSAV is RTCIT’s trademark annual function cum fest that runs through a few days with the final summation. SMRITI is the RTCIT’s yearly souvenir that publishes miscellaneous literary, informative, interesting and entertaining articles from faculty and students alike. Students are also encouraged to participate in various inter college/state / National level competitions, etc. Institute has playground facilities for cricket, football, basketball, badminton, volleyball, etc. There is a sports department looking after this. The department exhorts the students to display their best. National Service Scheme The National Service Scheme is an Indian government sponsored public service programme conducted by the Department of youth Affairs and sports of the Govt. of India. Popularly dubbed as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Birth Centenary year 1969. The Scheme is aimed at developing student’s personality through community service. The motto of NSS “Not Me but You” reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service. The main objectives of NSS are enumerated below: I. Understand the community in which they work. II. Understand themselves in relation to their community. III. Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving. IV. Foster competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities. V. Nurture leadership attributes and democratic attitudes. VI.
