' Tribelnuleae

The is one of the tribes of Cornpositae whose concept has not been essentially altered since the days of BENTHAM (1873), although the generic limits are often blurred. The largest number of genera eccur in S. Africa and Australia and to some extent also in S. America and in the Mediterranean region, and N. America, Eurasia and Indo- malaysia play only a minor role in the diflerentiation and distribution of the tribe (MERxMtiLLER et al., 1977). In this paper, the genera occurring in Thailand are listed alphabetically with the exception of the largest , Blumea, whose treatment has net been completed. Revisional work on Blumea (RANDERiA, 1960) is usefu1 for understanding the species, but further study is necessary before semc of the species in Thailand can be delimited satis- factorily. Lag.aera is considered to be part of Blumea, and is therefore not・treated in this paper. Vicoa is treated here as a synonym of inuta, although it is treated by KERR (1986) as a distinct genus.
