At the PJAS Regional Science Fair Competition, several of our students received special awards. Melanie Uroda received a Category Award for the highest scoring Physics Presentation. When a group of us girls went to Penn State York for STEM, we had an opportunity to dissect a squid. Grace Verano, a sixth grader at St. Theresa School loves to play with her two year old cousin, Camden. Camden was born with a hole in his heart, without a hypothalamus, and his aorta had not developed. He had surgery 10 days after he was born to cor- rect all of these problems. Harrisburg Senators ‘Hit the Books’ Reading Program During the month of March, the STS library partnered with the Harrisburg Senators for its 17th year in a row in their ‘Hit the Books’ reading program. PARP-Pick A Reading Partner By Mrs. Beauduy & Mrs. Zimmerman During the month of March the preschoolers through second graders had the opportunity to participate in the Saint Theresa School first ever Pick A Reading Partner reading program. This program was designed to encourage families to create a nightly reading routine with their child(ren) to promote fam- ily literacy. Reading aloud to children has life long benefits such as improving reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Reading aloud improves vocabu- lary, attention span, imagination and overall interest in books! We hope you enjoyed the reading program and look forward to participating in it again next year. We would like to congratulate all of the 88 PARP readers! These readers read a total of 55,117 minutes for the month of March! A special congratulations goes to Nora Baker who is in the Preschool morning 4's class. Nora was the top reader out of the ten participating classes. Nora read 2700 minutes! Miss Roos' second grade class were the winning class from Kindergarten through second grade. They received a sweet treat for their efforts. Each participating reader earned a prize, special dessert coupon, stickers, bookmark and pencil. Don't wait until next year's PARP reading program to begin. KEEP READING!!
