• SHORT ANSWER TYPE QUESTIONS: a) Name the factors that affect the climate of Asia. (Ans) The factors that affect the climate of Asia are : Latitude, Distance from Sea, Relief features, Winds and Ocean currents. b) Write a brief note on the distribution of rainfall in Asia. (Ans) 1. The amount of annual rainfall in Asia varies from place to place and time to time. 2. Mostly, the heavy rainfall areas are in equatorial regions The coastal areas of South East Asia and Southern . These areas receives more than 200 CM of annual rainfall. 3. The areas that receives moderate rainfall are Central and Southern China the and Japan parts of India and the South East Asia these regions receive 100 to 200 CM of rainfall per year . 4. The low rainfall receiving areas lie in SouthEast and Central Asia, These areas receives less than 50 cm of rainfall per year.

C) Why do you find evergreen forests in the equatorial type of climate? (Ans) Evergreen forests are found in the equatorial type of climate because the temperature remains high almost throughout the year. The range of annual temperature is 3 degree Celsius . Heavy convectional rainfall occurs almost everyday with an average annual rainfall between 150 to 250 cm and due to high humidity.

d) What type of natural vegetation do you find in temperate type of climate? (Ans) The natural vegetation we found in temperate type of climate are sparsely scattered course grasses and shrubs

e) Describe the natural vegetation of type of climate? (Ans) The vegetation found in monsoon type of climate are deciduous trees, thick evergreen forest with broad leaves ,rubber, banana mango ,Sal, Rosewood, bamboo, sandalwood ,Pipal, Neem etc.

4.Give reasons: a) The leaves in tropical desert type of climate are modified into spines. (Ans) The leaves are modified into spines to prevent loss of water. b) In Mediterranean type of climate, wildlife is limited. (Ans) In Mediterranean type of climate wildlife is limited due to the removal of forest from this area. c) During the winter season most of the parts of Asia do not receives rainfall. (Ans) During the winter season most of the parts of Asia do not receive rainfall because wind start blowing from land to sea or North East monsoon start , which is basically Offshore winds and carry no moisture along it.
