His Quarter to Six album was one of the 10 Best World Albums of 2013 on iTunes, the Apple online store. “Raichel’s orchestration is subtle, allowing the different languages and instruments to shine on each piece,” an Associated Press reviewer wrote. “There is a unifying spirit in the songs, a spirit that conjures senses of longing, melancholy and hope. This sentiment can be felt in two of the album’s strongest works: There’s “Sabe Deus (God Knows),” performed with Portugal’s Ana Moura, and the haunting “Mon Amour (My Love),” sung by Vieux Farka Toure, the Malian guitarist who is the son of the acclaimed Ali Farka Toure.” Raichel famously scored a private concert with US President during a visit to Israel in 2013. Better known for his group, the Idan Raichel Project, the 36-year-old musician has worked hard on his international exposure. There is no need for any adaptation. This was a very interesting year. I think that our audience has grown.” Keyboardist/producer/composer Raichel has collaborated and performed with more than 85 musicians, including India Arie and . Last year, he surprised fans by cutting off his trademark dreadlocks. With fans calling for him to win a Grammy, Raichel has audiences around the world waiting to hear what he decides to do in 2014. "Our ability to live in peace with one other depends on our learning to appreciate and respect each other's differences," notes Idan. "The way forward is not by trying to change your neighbor, but by accepting him and recognizing that we are all looking for the same things in life: bread, water, spirit, respect and love. After 15 years as leader of The Idan Raichel Project, international music icon Idan Raichel recently began focusing on the basic essence of his songs with the solo piano concert entitled Idan Raichel – Piano – Songs. Throughout 2016 and 2017, Idan presented his melodies, lyrics and the stories behind them in their pure, stripped down form, as they were originally written at home or in the studio. He performed these intimate solo piano concerts for rapturous audiences in New York, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Rome, Rio and many more. He sold out three nights in a row at the New Morning in Paris and filled large and small venues with his enchanting melodies and virtuosic playing. These intimate and inspiring show allowed Idan to demonstrate his gifts as a singer-songwriter and endearing solo stage presence. Most of the recordings on this new live double album were recorded during a 17-concert run at the 1400-seat Shuni Ampitheater in Binyamina, Israel. During the course of the unprecedented series, Idan performed for over 20,000 people, most of whom had never heard his hit songs performed in this unadorned way. Along with these live recordings, Idan Raichel – Piano – Songs includes new studio versions of his solo piano work, as well as two songs featuring orchestral accompaniment. The album also includes two previously unreleased compositions, notably the haunting new single “Lisloach Ve'Lishkoach (To Forgive and to Forget)”. The Idan Raichel Project – Quarter to Six. From bitter sorrow And sadness My heart melted away, The little flowers, With pure tears I watered them all. The beautiful moon Wants to set, Not wanting to shine anymore on the suffering. The stars Stopped shining They want to cry with me. No birds singing Nor joyful sound Can be heard in the air, The wild animals Also grieving with me In rocks and crevices. Wherever I go, Wherever I turn my eyes, My worries will follow me. Haunting me ’til the end, Hidden deep in the heart. The beautiful moon Wants to set, Not wanting to shine anymore on the suffering. The stars Stopped shining They want to cry with me.
