Anwesha Banerjee is a Chief Copy Editor for Ei Samay, a Bengali-language and e-paper based in , and belonging to India’s largest media company, . As a journalist her interest ranges from social issues to politics, human interest stories to trend stories. But Gender justice and child rights are two such areas which set her adrenaline rush. For her leadership potential and passion for journalism, she was nominated by US Consulate, Kolkata for Edward Murrow Programme for Journalists in 2015-16. She attended the same last year in the months of Oct-Nov. As a result, she witnessed historic US election and covered the same for her paper.

To look back, in 2013, she had spent 21 days across New , , and Maharashtra to write on human trafficking industry. She was on a rescue operation involving trafficked children, traffickers, middle men, police and NGO workers. This trip resulted in a series of 9 news stories for her paper. Ms. Banerjee was honoured with Laadli Media Awards funded by UNFPA and Population First consecutively for three years (2014-15-16). She had been awarded with Chairman’s Award by Times of India group, Out of the Box award by ABP Group for her consistent performance. Ms. Banerjee previously worked at the top Bengali daily . She is in charge of National and international desk of her daily. Ms. Banerjee previously worked as a trainee teaching associate at the Public Policy and Management Group and others in Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. She holds a Master degree in History from Jadavpur University, Kolkata; PG Dip in Mass Communication and Master in Business Law from the National Law School, India University
