Mehrnoush Ahmadi has advocated for Iranian LGBTQI right for over ten years. Currently she provides counselling to LGBTQI community and promotes LGBT rights in Iran at 6 Rang Organization. She is also one of the cofounders of Chelteke, an Iranian LGBTQ group based in Toronto. Chelteke organized events for queer community and their allies including mental health workshops, cultural events, movie nights, parties and retreats. She was a cofounder of Mothers of rainbow. This group organized the first Iranian queer art festival in Toronto. Mehrnoush also worked at IWOO as facilitator and coordinator. During her employment she organized an event with her colleagues to commemorate International day against homophobia and transphobia. Other collaborators in that event were Mothers of Rainbow based in Toronto and 6rang.org based in England. Mehrnoush believes in education as one of the main pillars of democracy. Initiating discussion and educating the community about Iranian LGBT issues through audio visual contents, reports and articles in various websites and publications, interviews in prominent Iranian channels including BBC Farsi, VOA, Iran International has been one of her main engagements. One of her volunteer jobs included serving families on behalf of Canadian Center for Victims of Torture as a mentor. Another volunteer activity was educating school children in elementary school about conflict resolution, anti bullying, community building, self esteem in the Peace by Peace project. Mehrnoush believes that one of the pillars of community building is education and ongoing discussions about common issues of the community. If elected her focus at ICC will be shaping a platform dedicated to those discussions.
مهرنوش احمدی یکی از فعاالن پیشرو حقوق جامعه ی ال جی بی تی ایرانی است که ضمن همکاری با سازمان ” شش رنگ ” به اقلیتهای جنسیتی در ایران نیز خدمات مشاوره ارائه می دهد. مهرنوش از بنیانگذاران گروه چلتکه است که از سال ۲۰۱۴ با برگزاری برنامه های فرهنگی، هنری و کارگاههای سالمت روان در جهت ارتقا و بهبود زندگی اعضا ایرانی LGBT در کانادا فعالیت می نماید. ایشان همچنین از بنیانگذاران گروه مادران رنگین کمان بوده که در سال ۲۰۱۸ اولین فستیوال هنری با شرکت هنرمندانی از جامعه ی ایرانی مقیم کانادا را برگزار کرد. در همان سال مراسم روز مبارزه با هموفوبیا و ترنس فوبیا با همکاری سه سازمان و گروه مادران رنگین کمان، سازمان زنان ایرانی انتاریو و شش رنگ برگزار شد. مهرنوش، همکاری با سازمان زنان ایرانی انتاریو در پروژه ی “تغییر نگرش جامعه ی ایرانی نسبت به جامعه ی ال جی بی تی”، فعالیت در مرکز کانادایی حمایت از قربانیان شکنجه به عنوان منتور خانواده ها ونیز همکاری در پروژه ی Peace by Peace که از طرف دانشگاه یورک برای آموزش رفع اختالف به روش های غیر خشونت آمیز، مبارزه با قلدری در

Ahmad Ehsandar completed his undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering at Sharif University of Technology in 2006 and received his M.Sc. degree in biomechanical engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnique). Ahmad completed his Ph.D. at the University of Waterloo in 2015. In 2015, he joined the Centre for Intelligent Antenna and Radio Systems (CIARS) Group, University of Waterloo, as a Research Associate and has been contributing since to various mmWave, terahertz, and optic projects developed there. He has years of experience in designing heat efficient PCB packages, low-profile heatsink for electronic cooling, and performing thermal analysis for electromechanical assemblies. Since 2015, he has been a Lead Mechanical Engineer in the designing and prototyping of the low-profile Satellite-on-the-Move phased array project conducted in University of Waterloo. In his free time, Ahmad has been engaged in community initiatives. He has worked with the ICC as a volunteer to expand the presence of the organization in the Waterloo region. Ahmad was also part of the organizing committee for the anti-war rallies organized in 2019 and 2020 in Waterloo.

Tina Farshadgohar is a researcher in the field of psychiatry at Université de Montréal and a research associate at McGill University, Department of Family Medicine and Geriatric Medicine in the field of Alzheimer’s disease. She immigrated from Iran to Turkey back in 1994 where she studied medicine. After immigrating to Canada in 2003, she studied biomedical sciences at the undergraduate level at Université de Quebec A Trois- Rivieres and at the graduate level with the major of Psychiatry at Université de Montréal. She is the first Persian- speaking researcher in North America on mindfulness- based intervention techniques used in certain health problems and stress management and provided the first free mindfulness training in Persian (Farsi) for kids during the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, since 2003, she started her activity in the Iranian community as a journalist in Montreal and coordinator of many Iranian cultural activities in Montreal. Some of her community accomplishments are: - Founder of the Montreal Iranian businesswomen’s Association - Member of the board of directors of: The Zoroastrian Association, House of Iran in Montreal, the Iranian Solidarity Association and Canadian-Turkish businesswomen’s Association. - Active volunteer member in the Parliamentary Federal election campaign - Member of the Alzheimer’s Disease Organization in Quebec Recently, she established the Telegram Group “Cooperation in the Corona Era for the Iranian Community” within the framework of “house of Iran”, providing medical help, guidance and education starting the first days of pandemic up to now.
تینا فرشادگهر، پژوهشگر حوزه روانپزشكي در دانشگاه مونترال و مك گیل )واحد پزشكي خانواده و سالمندان( است. وی در سال ۱۹۹٤ از ایران به تركیه مهاجرت كرده و تحصیالت خود را در رشته پزشكي به اتمام رساند. تینا در سال ۲۰۰۳ پس از مهاجرت به كانادا، در رشته بیومدیکال، گرایش روان پزشكي، در دانشگاههاي تروا ریویر و دانشگاه مونترال تا مقطع دکترا تحصیالت خود را ادامه داد. وی از سال ۲۰۱۰ به عنوان اولین محقق فارسي زبان آمریكاي شمالي، با نگاه دانش محور بر روي کاربرد تكنیك ذهن آگاهي در درمان برخي بیماریها، تحقیق نموده و در شرایط همه گیری کرونا، آموزشهاي این تكنیك را به صورت رایگان براي كودكان آغاز كرد. به موازات فعالیتهای علمی و حرفه ای، تینا از سال ۲۰۰۳ با نوشتن مقاالت و گزارشات مختلف در نشریه هاي شهر مونترال فعالیتهاي خود را در جامعه ایراني آغاز كرده و در بسیاری از حرکتهای جامعه ایراني مونترال حضور فعال و موثر داشته است.

I, Amir-Hassan Ghaseminejad-Tafreshi, am a faculty member of School of Business at Capilano University. I have taught News Media, the Public, and Democracy, Political Communication, as well as research methods courses at Simon Fraser University (SFU), and computer science and business courses at Langara College, Douglas College, and British Columbia Institute of Technology. I am a researcher at the Institute for Canadian Urban Research Studies, at SFU, where I develop statistical and process models of BC criminal justice system. As a researcher at Interdisciplinary Research in the Mathematical and Computational Sciences, I participated in healthcare modeling; and at the Center for Policy Research on Science and Technology, I explored the impact of broadband Internet on rural and remote communities in BC. My publications are about society and technology interrelationships, voting systems, citizen engagement in democracy, media effects, modeling social systems, high dimensional data analysis. My civic engagement includes public lectures on the theories and practices of democracy for Canadian and Iranian communities in Vancouver, and I have advocated for proportional representation as the voting system in BC. I received my PhD from the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology, School of Communication, at SFU in 2019. I have a Master’s in Computer Hardware, and a Bachelor’s in Electronics, both from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Sharif University of Technology. At ICC, I wish to expand democratic dialog among Iranian Canadians. I believe that reestablishment of diplomatic relations is in the interest of Iranian Canadians and will eliminate unnecessary burdens for students, Iranian Canadians and their families; therefore, I will advocate for the elimination of sanctions on Iran. I believe that closer economic and cultural relations, and the use diplomacy instead of force, encourages solidarity, peace, and integration. I will advocate win-win choices for prosperity for Iranians and Canadians.

I am a Software Quality Analyst with a BSc degree in Mathematics from Tehran University. I moved to Canada in 1998. Shortly after, I met a group of Iranian scholars and graduate students. Together we founded Iranian Association at the University of Toronto (IAUT). This was the beginning of my journey as a social activist. Other examples of my involvements include trustee member of Tirgan Festival since its inception in 2006, board member of CineIran Film Festival (2018), fundraising coordinator of Modern Times Stage Company since 2010, among other volunteer engagements. I have been a member of the Iranian Canadian Congress (ICC) since 2008 with only a gap in 2017. Throughout these years, I made my best efforts to help the ICC become a unifying force among Iranians living in Canada. As an effort to help revive the organization, I nominated myself for ICC BoD in 2018. Together with a few other friends who share my vision for the ICC and our community, we initiated a campaign and worked very hard for restoring transparent and fair elections to ICC BoD at that time. Unfortunately, our good will efforts were ignored, and we were compelled to withdraw our candidacy in protest to various irregularities. In order to restore civility and transparency in the ICC, in spring 2019, I along with three other ICC members filed a court application when our several legal and lawful requests to the BoD to access the membership registry were rejected. Our legal action resulted in a settlement which led to the appointment of a monitor by the court to conduct all affairs related to the upcoming AGM and elections, with no involvement of the BOD. مهردخت هادی تحلیلگر تضمین کیفیت نرم افزار و دارای مدرک کارشناسی ریاضیات از دانشگاه تهران است. وی متاهل و دارای دوفرزند است. مهردخت اندکی پس از مهاجرت به کانادا در سال ۱۹۹۸، با همراهی گروهی از تحصیل کردگان و فارغ التحصیالن ایرانی در شکل گیری انجمن ایرانیان دانشگاه تورنتو (IAUT) مشارکت فعال داشت و این آغاز فعالیتهای اجتماعی او در کانادا بود. از دیگر مشارکتهای اجتماعی وی می توان به این موارد اشاره کرد: عضو معتمد جشنواره تیرگان از بدو تأسیس در سال ۲۰۰۶. عضو هیئت مدیره جشنواره سینمای ایران )۲۰۱۸(.
بازگشت به لیست کاندیداها Return to Candidates List هماهنگ کننده رویداد جلب کمکهای مالی برای موسسه هنری Stage Modern Times از سال ۲۰۱۰ تا کنون. مهردخت از سال ۲۰۰۸ عضو کنگره ایران کانادا (ICC) بوده و همواره در جهت تبدیل شدن این نهاد به نیرویی متحد کننده در بین ایرانیان مقیم کانادا، تالش نموده است. در همین راستا و به منظور کمک به احیای سازمان، مهردخت در سال ۲۰۱۸ کاندید عضویت در هیات مدیره کنگره شد و به همراه تعدادی دیگر از فعالین جامعه که دیدگاه مشترکی نسبت به کنگره و جامعه ایرانی کانادا داشتند، کمپینی را آغاز کرده و در جهت برگزاری انتخاباتی شفاف و منصفانه تالش نمودند. اما متاسفانه در آن زمان تمامی کوششهای های صورت گرفته توسط هیات مدیره کنگره نادیده گرفته شد و آنها مجبور شدند تا در اعتراض به تخلفهای مکرر، از نامزدی در انتخابات انصراف دهند. به منظور بازگرداندن قانون مداری و شفافیت به کنگره، در بهار سال ۲۰۱۹، مهردخت به همراه سه عضو دیگر کنگره، پس از آنکه درخواست قانونی و حقوقی آنها جهت دریافت لیست اعضا، بطور مکرر از سوی هیات مدیره نادیده گرفته شد دادخواستی را به دادگاه ارائه دادند. این اقدامات حقوقی پس از تالش بسیار خوشبختانه به توافقی ختم شد که منجر به انتصاب ناظر انتخابات از سوی دادگاه گردید و برهمین اساس کلیه امور مربوط به برگزاری مجمع عمومی سالیانه و انتخابات آینده توسط این ناظر و بدون دخالت مستقیم یا غیرمستقیم هیات مدیره انجام خواهد شد.

I, Arezou (Saïdeh) Khadir, am a family doctor who has been practicing medicine for twenty years in Montreal, subsequent to my graduation in medicine from University of Montreal and receiving my specialization from McGill University. Born in Iran and raised in Canada, I have also been an active member of numerous community organizations and taken part in many collective activities. Being a founding board member of Québec Physicians for Medicare (MQRP), board member of Canadian Doctors for Medicare, member of Physicians for Global Survival (PGS), member of Collectif Échec à la guerre, and member of Mouvement Québécois pour la Paix, are some examples of my social and community activities. Deep in my heart, there has been always a special place for my country of origin and Iranian community here; thus, I was also involved in many Iranian community activities such as being a board member of Centre Culturel et Communautaire des Iraniens in Montréal, and a founding board member of Nowroozland Library Foundation. Now, I am running to become a board member of the Iranian Canadian Congress for empowering Iranian Canadian community against all sorts of discrimination and sanctions in particular as well as promoting peace and diplomacy in general, according to the published platform.

Mohsen was born in Tehran, Iran. He moved to Canada in 2010 at the age of 16. He has majored in Finance at York University, where he started his community activities. Mohsen is a young entrepreneur and is currently operating his own construction business in Toronto. Mohsen believes the Iranian-Canadian community is a young community in Canada and that to unite this diverse community, grassroots community organizations like ICC should be supported and should have the platform ready to have youth involved in them. Mohsen has been a member of different clubs at York University and served on the board of the Iranian Students Association at York University (ISAYU). In 2017, Mohsen was involved in making a short documentary called “Iranians Non-Grata” that uncovers the personal stories of prominent Iranian students who have been affected by President Trump’s Executive Order known as the Muslim Ban or the Travel Ban. Mohsen has also been involved in the Liberal Party of Canada as a volunteer. He served as a delegate for the riding of Richmond Hill in the 2018 Liberal Policy Convention. Mohsen also formerly served on the editorial board of the Iranian Canadian Journal, a progressive non-profit media outlet. He is a current board member at the ICC and is helping the organization as the director of public relations.
محسن در سن شانزده سالگی در سال 2010 به کانادا مهاجرت کرد. او در رشته امور مالی )Finance( در دانشگاه یورک تحصیل کرد و فعالیتهای اجتماعی خود را نیز در همین دانشگاه آغاز کرد. محسن یک کارآفرین جوان است و در حال حاضر کسب و کار خود در حوزه صنعت ساختمان را در تورنتو مدیریت میکند. او باور دارد که جامعه ایرانی-کاناداییها جوان است و برای متحد کردن این جامعه و همزیستی مسالمت آمیز به سازمانهای مردمی همانند کنگره ایرانیان کانادا نیاز است و این سازمانها باید آمادگی مشارکت جوانان در خود را داشته باشند. محسن عضو گروه های مختلف دانشگاه یورک بوده و عضو هیات مدیره انجمن دانشجویان ایرانی دانشگاه یورک نیز در کارنامه او دیده میشود. عالوه بر فعالیتهای دانشجویی، او از سال 2016 به عنوان داوطلب در حزب لیبرال کانادا فعالیت داشته است و در کنفرانس های سیاستگزاری این حزب به عنوان نماینده منطقه زندگی خود مشارکت داشته است. محسن خانیکی همچنین همراه با گروهی داوطلب در سال ۲۰۱۷ مستند کوتاهی به نام “Iranians Non-Grata” ساخت. این مستند کوتاه به تاثیر دستور منع سفر ترامپ )Travel Ban( بر جامعه ایرانی مهاجر پرداخت. او در گذشته در هیات تحریریه ژونال ایرانیان کانادا، یک رسانه پیشرو غیرانتفاعی، فعال بود. محسن در حال حاضر عضو هیات مدیره کنگره ایرانیان کانادا است و مسئولیت روابط عمومی این سازمان را برعهده دارد.

Zarrin Mohyeddin is an award winning Iranian Canadian social and political contributor who has dedicated her life to public and community services at both the grassroots and executive level. She is a board member of the Ferdowsi Historical Society. She is a co-founder of Parya Trillium, She is a member of the board of Cancer Kids Entertainment, She is an executive member of the Iran National Council for Free Election, Ms. Mohyeddin is also a recipient of the 2017 Ontario Provincial governments award for leading women and building communities. In 2012 she was honoured with HM Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Award recognizing her outstanding work in the community and social activism in Canada. Her fundraising efforts throughout the years has meant the building of schools in Iran; essentials for the earthquake of Rudbar, Ghaen and Bam victims in Iran; facilitate housing for Iranian refugees in Canada; forging relationships with the UNHCR and all 3 levels of government in Canada. Professionally, she has had an almost 40-year career as a manager, operational director and account executive in Toronto. As a mother of two LGBTQ children, she is a donor to PFLAG and has advocated for Iranian LGBTQ refugees in Canada and abroad.
زرین محی الدین در سال ۱۹۷۹ به همراه خانواده ی خود به کانادا مهاجرت کرده و از سال ۱۹۸۱ فعالیت اجتماعی، فرهنگی، سیاسی و حقوق بشری خود را در تورنتو آغاز کرده است. ایشان در طی این سالها زندگی خود را به خدمت کردن به جامعه ایرانی- کانادایی وتامین نیازهای اولیه پناهندگان و اسکان و کاریابی آنها اختصاص داده است. تعدادی از فعالیتهای اجتماعی ایشان به این شرح است: – مشارکت در بنیان گذاری خیریه پریا – عضویت در هیات مدیره انجمن فردوسی، اولین انجمن ایرانیان کانادا – عضویت در هیات مدیره Cancer Kids Entertainment – عضویت در دفتر سیاسی شورای ملی ایران برای انتخابات آزاد – ایشان همچنین درسه کمیته امداد رسانی تورنتو جهت جمع آوری کمک برای زلزله زدگان رودبار، قائن وبم شرکت داشته که با همت جامعه ایرانی کانادایی و اعضای کمیته ها منجر به ساخت تعدادی مدرسه و خوابگاه شده است.

Reza Namdari is an entrepreneur and leads a construction management firm in Montreal. Born in 1984 in Tehran, he completed his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at the University of Science and Technology. During his studies, he has led various students’ union initiatives and was involved in student- led publications. Reza Namdari immigrated to Canada in 2008 and completed his Master’s degree in Construction Management at Concordia University. He has been a member of the Iranian Canadian Congress since 2018 and has helped the ICC as a volunteer in Montreal. Reza was of the first members of the ICC volunteer team in Montreal. The aim of this local team is to expand the organization’s presence in Quebec in general and in Montreal in particular. Working for peace and opposing any sanctions and discrimination against the Iranian people will be some of his priorities if elected as a board member of the Iranian Canadian Congress.

Moslem immigrated to Canada in 2006 to continue his studies and obtained his MSc and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Alberta (UofA). He has years of experience working in academia and the tech industry and is currently a principal research scientist at 1QBit.
Moslem has served the community at different cultural, charity, and professional positions. He co-founded “Ghasedak”, a Persian podcast and live radio program attracting listeners from more than 50 countries, in 2010 and served three years at the UofA student union’s “Safewalk” service. Moslem has also worked with S4S (a charity group to support the Iranian students in need), radio “Shomal 53”, the “Iranian” monthly magazine in Edmonton, the Iranian Students Association at UofA, CJSR radio station, Tasnim Society, and STEM mentoring events for high school students. Before moving to Canada, Moslem worked at the Amirkabir University of Technology student residence services and served as the president of the students’ scientific association at the electrical engineering department. He also has volunteered for international charitable organizations and recently organized a fundraising event for Relief International to support their Covid-19 response in Iran. Some of Moslem’s professional volunteer services are: sitting as a member of the review committee for the Government of Canada’s NSERC funding applications, technical program committee member of several international conferences, and reviewer for high-impact scientific journals. He has more than 40 publications in prestigious journals and proceedings and has delivered several talks in international conferences.
Moslem’s scientific and leadership achievements have been recognized through several awards, including the Government of Canada’s Vanier Graduate Award, Government of Canada’s NSERC postdoctoral fellowship, Government of Alberta’s AITF postdoctoral fellowship, Government of Alberta’s iCORE graduate award, and UofA President’s Doctoral Award of Distinction. He received Iran’s “Distinguished Student Award” in 2004.
مسلم نوری در سال ۲۰۰۶ جهت ادامهی تحصیل به کانادا مهاجرت کرد و مدارک فوق لیسانس و دکترای خود را از دانشگاه آلبرتا دریافت نمود. او که تجربهی سالها کار در دانشگاه و صنعت را دارد، اکنون محقق ارشد شرکت QBit1 میباشد.

Hooman Razavi was born in Tehran and moved to Toronto, Canada when he was 18 back in 2002. He earned his B.Sc in Biochemistry, B.Ed in Science Education, and M.Ed in Educational Policy all from the University of Toronto. Hooman has worked since graduation as a teacher of Mathematics and Science in Toronto private schools and currently in Toronto District School Board (TDSB), with a few years of international teaching experience in China. Hooman has volunteered and participated in many community events and organizations. Hooman had been a member of the Agora Philosophical Board for five consecutive years; he also founded the film club "Na Ma Na Cinema" and supported later in the past years "Cine Iran International Film Festival," gaining valuable experience in community engagement, cultural development, and volunteering. Further, Hooman briefly supported the ICC Culture committee back in 2015 when the newly elected board called for volunteers. Hooman's extensive engagement in the past 13 years in the community has provided him insight of the leading players, nuances, needs, and fault lines. As such, Hooman knows many former and current ICC players who have helped to develop this organization. This knowledge has been critical in shaping Hooman's intention to run for the ICC 2020 election and shaping his platform and policies. Hooman's firm belief in having a mix of idealistic and pragmatic outlook in community building and politics guide his view to aim and actualize his vision if elected. Hooman's plan centers on ICC rejuvenation, Youth Committee development, support for Visa Application Center opening, pushing for justice for victims of PS752 tragedy, and advocacy to enlist Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) as a terrorist organization and implantation of existing legislation to the benefit of the community at large.

My name is Kayhan Razavi and I work as an entrepreneur in Montreal. I was born in Tehran in 1959. After graduating from Kharazmi Highschool in 1976, I started studying Metallurgical Engineering. At the same time I was employed by the Programing and Budget Organization (Sazman Barnameh va Budjeh). Upon entering the university and getting acquainted with different Student’s Groups, I got involved with Social & Cultural activities and gradually became involved in political activities. Socio-Political activities led to my unfair dismissal from work, dismissal from university, and finally imprisonment and many other problems for me and my family. After graduation with a group of young engineers we started a company to produce industrial parts and I was responsible of Design & Technology. I immigrated to Canada with my family in 2001. From 2002 I started to work at a metallurgical company in Montreal. We produced Titanium Alloy. Later I became the CEO of the company for 7 years. Since 2015 I am working as an Engineer Consultant and as an Entrepreneur. After moving to Canada, I have continued my Socio-Cultural activities, among which I can mention my cooperation with Dehkhoda Persian School and “Association of Human Rights for Iran- Montreal”. My desire is to preserve the Iranian culture and identity. I wish to unify the Iranians of Canada. This will facilitate their lives abroad. I work so that Iranians of Canada can acquire their rights and freedoms in harmony with the Canadian society.
من کیهان رضوی هستم وبعنوان یک کار آفرین در مونترال مشغول بکارم. در سال ۱۳۳۸ در تهران متولد شدم، پس از اخذ دیپلم از دبیرستان خوارزمی در سال ۱۳۵۵ در رشته مهندسی متالورژی شروع به تحصیل کردم و همزمان به استخدام سازمان برنامه و بودجه درآمدم. با ورود به دانشگاه و آشنایی با گروههای دانشجویی شروع به فعالیت فرهنگی اجتماعی کرده وبمرور درگیر فعالیتهای سیاسی شدم. فعالیتهای سیاسی اجتماعی باعث اخراج نا عادالنه من از کار وسپس اخراج از دانشگاه ودر نهایت حبس وبسیاری مشکالت دیگر برای من وخانوادهام گردید۰ پس از فارغ تحصیلی با همکاری چند مهندس جوان شرکتی برای تولید قطعات صنعتی راه اندازی کردیم ومن مسولیت طراحی وتکنولوژی را بعهده گرفتم.

Farid Rohani is a successful entrepreneur, senior executive, and community leader. In addition to his extensive business interests and activities, Farid has volunteered for and led many significant organizations as an engaged and contributing citizen since he came to Canada from Iran as a young boy. Farid has held several prominent leadership roles both locally and internationally. He served for many years as the Chair of the Laurier Institution and was appointed as Chair Emeritus of the organization for his involvement and significant contribution to the institute from its original inception in 1989. He was also a board member of the Nowruz Commission in Washington, D.C. where he served for three years. Farid is the treasurer and board member of Integrity Initiatives International, a US based organization focused on establishing an International Anti Corruption Court. Farid further served for three years as the Vancouver Chair of the Institute For Canadian Citizenship and he led the hosting of the first Citizenships Ceremony held at a First Nations Community. Farid continues a significant contribution to the local community by serving on the foundation board of the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation, a Board member of The Global Reporting Center and an advisor to First Nations Golden Eagle Rising Society. He has established Khanjani scholarship at UBC and is a supporter of the artistic community in Vancouver. Farid’s extensive contribution to Canada and his local community has led to him receiving several notable distinctions, including being appointed to serve as Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel of The British Columbia Regiment (Duke of Connaught’s Own), a recipient of the Canadian Senate’s 150th Anniversary medal and recognized as a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society. Farid was also awarded the Provincial Multicultural award in 2012 for his work around diversity and inclusiveness.

Tara Saberpor is an Iranian-Canadian human rights activist, child and refugee rights advocate, social entrepreneur, and aspiring International Development professional. Tara has accrued nearly twelve years of volunteer and professional experience in the education, business, service, and non-profit industries both locally and internationally. She speaks English, Farsi, Kurdish and Turkish.
Tara holds a Master of Arts Degree in Development Studies, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies and a Graduate Diploma in Refugee and Migration Studies. Throughout her academic career, Tara demonstrated an outstanding level of academic achievement while being involved with various student clubs and labour unions. As President of the Kurdish Students' Association at York University, Tara oversaw the governance of the student club while planning and organizing social, cultural and educational projects, activities and events.
Tara's life story has gravitated the force in her to commit herself to pursue projects that would give back to her community and the vulnerable in particular. Ever since she moved to Canada as a Government-Assisted Refugee in 2001, Tara has been actively engaged in the Iranian and Kurdish communities. She has worked mainly with disadvantaged and displaced populations in Canada and Turkey. She has been involved with organizations such as the Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture, the International Organization for Iranian Refugees, Centre for Refugee Studies and Istanbul&I.
Tara became familiar with the Iranian Canadian Congress (ICC) in late 2014 when she served as a volunteer for the organization. Her experiences have helped widen her perspective and provided her with a unique lens to apply in her involvement in ICC. She hopes to rebuild and change the organization in a direction that exemplifies professionalism, reflects the community's diversity and ensures that all people have their voices heard.

With respect to Mr. Marvin J. Huberman I sent this brief description in Farsi and English, bearing in mind that the English version is optional. In my opinion, in Canada, a country that considers multiculturalism as one of its rich principles, each non English spoken community should consider its language the official one. I hope that next year we will make Farsi the official language of the ICC. My name is Medi (Mehdi) Shams, 69, self-employed, owner of Sign & Print, residing for almost three decades in Canada. I am participating for the fifth time in the ICC election. I consider this organization my second home, and tutor who thought me what my parents, school and university couldn't. To serve the community one doesn't need to be a member of the board. To be a candidate is a duty for those who see in themselves the four principles of intellectual independence, expertise, sufficient knowledge, and belief in the five institutional principles such as lawfulness, transparency, accountability, engagement, and cooperation. The ICC has never been in a crisis like it is today. More than ever, this institution needs the help of those who know the problems. Although serving refugees, workers, the elderly, and new comers have always been at the forefront of my goals, in the current situation, I consider it is more important to re-build this institution by holding vast dialogue sessions, with the aim of redefining it. The problems are many, and can only be solved by creating a sense of belonging by increasing the participation of the majority, in a structure that should be changed based on the rights and duties of the members and not the board. با احترام به نظر جناب ماروین، شرح مختصری را به زبان فارسی و انگلیسی ارسال داشتم، با در نظر داشتن این نکته که نسخه فارسی اصلی و اجبار باید باشد. در کانادا کشوری که تنوع فرهنگی را یکی از اصول نظام خود میداند، زمان مادری میبایست زبان اصلی نهاد های فرهنگ های مختلف باشد. با این امید که در سال آینده فارسی را زبان رسمی این نهاد بر گزینیم. مهدی شمس هستم. ۶۹ سال دارم، فارق التحصیل در رشته معماری از هنرهای زیبای پاریس هستم. حدود سی سال در کانادا اقامت داشته و به مدت ۲۳ سال به طراحی، چاپ و ساخت تابلو های تجاری در مرکز اقامت ایرانیان در نورت یورک تورنتو مشغول هستم. برای پنجمین بار در انتخابات کنگره شرکت میکنم. من کنگره را خانه دوم و آنرا همچو استادی برای خود میانگارم که آنچه اولیا، مدرسه و دانشگاه نتوانست به من بیاموزد، آموخت.

Saman Tabasinejad is running for re-election onto the ICC Board of Directors after being elected in 2018. She has worked to advance policies and initiatives that support Iranian-Canadians at different levels of Government – from advocating for Foreign Trained Professionals, to speedening up Permanent Residency applications for Iranians, to advocating against sanctions and war. During the day, Saman works as the Project Manager at Progress Toronto. She has an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Carleton University and a graduate degree in Anthropology from McGill University. She is particularly interested in how large policy decisions affect everyday lives. Saman knows that meaningful change cannot be achieved unless actions that address and remove systemic barriers are taken. In 2018, Saman ran for office in North York. She recently worked at the DUKE Heights BIA, at the Willowdale Advocate, Downsview Advocate, and is the Policy Chair of the Iranian Canadian Congress. Saman has also served on the executive of Roofs for Refugees, pairing newly arrived refugees with homes, and has spent time organizing with immigrant communities. Saman is dedicated to building a better world and making room for women, especially young racialized women, to take space, influence policy-making and run for office. If you elect her for a second term, Saman will continue to put Iranian-Canadians first and advocate for peace and diplomacy.
سمن طبسی نژاد در سال 2018 به عضویت هیات مدیره کنگره ایرانیان کانادا انتخاب شد و در این دوره نیز نامزد کسب این سمت شده است. در دوران عضویت خود در هیات مدیره ای سی سی او برای حمایت از منافع ایرانی-کاناداییها در سطوح مختلف دولت تالش کرده است. سمن برای حل مشکل ارزیابی مدارک مهاجران متخصص و ورود آنها به بازار کار تالش کرده است و همچنین سعی کرده است که روند بررسی تقاضای اقامت دائم ایرانیان را سرعت دهد. همچنین سمن مخالف تحریم و جنگ است و در این جهت فعالیت های زیادی را در ای سی سی و مستقل از ای سی سی در سازمان های حامی صلح انجام داده است. سمن به عنوان مدیر پروژه در موسسه Progress Toronto فعالیت میکند. او کارشناسی علوم سیاسی از دانشگاه کارلتون و کارشناسی ارشد مردم شناسی از دانشگاه مکگیل دارد. او عالقمند به بررسی چگونگی تاثیرات سیاستهای کالن بر زندگی روزمره مردم است. او معتقد است که تغییرات معنادار تنها زمانی بوجود میآیند که موانع سیستماتیک از میان برداشته شوند. سمن در سال 2018 برای کسب منصب نمایندگی در منطقه نورت یورک در انتخابات رقابت کرد. او اخیرا در روزنامههای Willowdale Advocate و Downsview Advocate فعالیت داشته و هم اکنون رئیس بخش سیاستگذرای کنگره ایرانیان کانادا است. سمن در بخش اجرایی Roofs for Refugees فعالیت کرده و برای تهیه خانه برای پناهندگان تازه وارد و آشنا کردن آنها با جامعه کانادا تالش کرده است. سمن در جهت ساختن جهانی بهتر و ایجاد فضا برای زنان جهت تاثیر بر سیاستگذاری تالش میکند. در صورت انتخاب مجدد، او به فعالیت خود در اولویت دادن به حل مشکالت ایرانی-کاناداییها و طرفداری از صلح و دیپلماسی ادامه خواهد داد.

Born in January 1975, Mahdi Torabi Kia is a cultural and social Iranian-Canadian activist who lives in Toronto. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Physical Geography in 1998 from the University of Tehran. In 2007, he immigrated to Canada, continued his education in Geographic Information System (GIS) at Ryerson University and graduated in 2011. With more than a decade of solid experience as a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), he also has more than 6 years of management background in his profile. He is also a member of the Mehbang scientific group – a volunteer science-based think tank and has organized and held multiple public conferences in Toronto to familiarize and develop scientific and critical thinking in the Iranian-Canadian community. His interests and efforts mostly focus on social and cultural issues, with an emphasis on the advancement of scientific thinking in the society. He has multiple interviews, articles, and reports on various topics which can be traced in Shahrvand publication of Toronto.
مهدی ترابی کیا، زاده دی ماه ۱۳۵۳ خورشیدی در تهران، کوشاگر فرهنگی و اجتماعی ساکن شهر تورانتوی کانادا است. او در سال۱۳۷۶ خورشیدی از دانشگاه تهران با مدرک کارشناسی جغرافیای طبیعی، فارغ التحصیل شد. وی در سال ۲۰۰۷ میالدی به کانادا مهاجرت کرد و تحصیالت خود را در رشته سیستم اطالعات جغرافیایی در دانشگاه رایرسون ادامه داد و در سال ۲۰۱۱ آنرا تکمیل کرد. مهدی در کنار بیش از یک دهه عضویت و تالش پیاپی در اتحادیه کارمندی و کارگری کانادا (UFCW)، بیش از ۶ سال پیشینه مدیریتی را نیز در کارنامه خود دارد. وی بین سالهای ۲۰۰۸ تا ۲۰۱۴ از اعضای انجمن جغرافیدانان کانادا بوده و با این انجمن همکاری نزدیک داشته است. همچنین از سال ۲۰۱۷ تا کنون از اعضای انجمن عکاسان حرفه ای کانادا است. مهدی از همکاران اندیشکده ِمهبانگ است و برپایی چندین نشست در زمینه گسترش علم را در شهر تورانتو بعهده داشته است. تالشهای او بیشتر بر بسترهای اجتماعی و فرهنگی با تاکید بر گسترش اندیشه سنجشگر و اهمیت علم متمرکز است. بخشی از تالشهای وی را در گفتگوها و مقاالت گوناگون پیرامون مسائل اجتماعی و همینطور در گزارشاتی بر نشستهای گوناگون فرهنگی، اجتماعی و سیاسی که در نشریه شهروند تورانتو به چاپ رسیده اند، می توان پیگیری کرد.

Younes is the co-founder and executive vice- president of the Institute for Peace & Diplomacy. He was elected as one of the youngest board members of the Iranian Canadian Congress in 2018. As a research director, he organized the ICC’s first briefing session on Canada’s Iran policy on Parliament Hill for Members of Parliament, as well as officials from Global Affairs Canada, Department of National Defence, and Privy Council. He is a foreign policy researcher specializing in international security, with a focus on the Middle East and Iran. Younes has published his analysis in various outlets including the Hill Times, Atlantic Council and Responsible Statecraft. Younes has been interviewed and referenced by major media outlets (CBC, Globe and Mail, Canadian Press, BBC News, Aljazeera, and others). He has a Master’s of International Affairs, with a major in Global Security and International Trade, from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. Younes is a strong believer in ICC’s mission for community advocacy. He believes that strengthening the ICC will help to protect the rights and the interests of Iranian-Canadians. If elected, he will work towards expanding ICC’s advocacy and ICC’s reach and influence in Ottawa.
