(252) 744-3251 Clinical Simulation Center - - Brody School of Medicine [email protected] The CSC is working with the Emergency Medicine Interest Group and ECU College of Nursing to plan an interprofessional Disaster Day at the College of Nursing in November.

Vidant Medical Center onboarded 204 new nurse graduates this summer. All new nurses participate in ongoing activities in the Sim Center as part of the Nurse Residency Program.

Vidant Medical Center implemented open sessions of First 5 Minutes© for interdisciplinary staff members, offering two sessions per month.

The Healthcare Simulation Unit The Healthcare Simulation Unit (HSU) traveled to Halifax Regional Hospital for pediatric trauma simulations in July. Feedback from their staff was excellent. Halifax EMS has requested additional trainings this fall.

The HSU was featured in a Stop the Bleed training using a high-fidelity simulator in Greensboro during the NC Continuing Technical Education summer conference. High school educators from across the state learned how to control bleeding in emergency situations.

The HSU will be traveling frequently in Eastern NC this fall. Pediatric trauma simulations are planned at Carteret General Hospital ED, (Morehead City, NC), ED (Duplin County, NC) and Wayne County EMS (Goldsboro, NC).

The Pediatric Neonatal Clinical Update regional conference will have the HSU to facilitate pediatric airway skills trainings in November.
