Abstract: Due to deregulation of the broadcasting industry, television news has changed considerably during the last 10-15 years. This paper reports on a major study of changes in the Danish television news as regards news content, formats and editorial policies. In particular, the paper focuses on the development of proximity as a key news value that allows newsrooms to develop a closer relationship with their viewers. However, the editorial emphasis on proximity in selection of news stories, narrative and enunciative structure also entails a redefinition of the social character of news. Finally, the paper discusses these editorial changes in relation to broader changes in public discourse in Denmark, notably the increase in media generated populism and the rise of the "modern province". The concept of proximity, which subsequently became very modern in all news reporting, was something we were born with. The newcomer, TV2, was given public service obligations, but services were to be financed primarily by the sale of air time to advertisers. News services were the channel’s ’flagship’, and a good deal of energy and resources were put into news production. -

MEDIA ALERT 2nd April 2020 BBC EARTH CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF EARTH DAY WITH A SPECIAL WEEK OF PROGRAMMING View Earth Week trailer BBC Earth is celebrating 50 years of Earth Day with Earth Week, a special line-up of programming which looks at the beauty of our planet both up close and from far away and explores our vital role in ensuring its future. Screening each evening at 8.30pm from Monday, April 20, the week kicks off with the premiere of Blue Planet Revisited, exploring the challenges facing the marine eco-system and wildlife in the Great Barrier Reef and the Bahamas. The cameras then move from under the ocean to hundreds of kilometres up in the sky in Earth From Space, capturing natural spectacles on an epic scale and showing viewers the planet’s extraordinary beauty and diversity in astonishing detail. The week will finish with a special Sunday screening of every episode of David Attenborough’s iconic Planet Earth II. Presented by Liz Bonnin, Chris Packham and Steve Backshall, Blue Planet Revisited returns to two key locations featured in Blue Planet II to see how things have changed, talk to the scientists who know our oceans best and give us a snapshot of the health of the ocean. With the breeding season underway, the series focuses on the action following whales and their calves and turtles and their hatchlings together with spectacular footage of shark dives in the Bahamas and the underwater dawn chorus of the Great Barrier Reef, home to 600 different kinds of coral and more than 1500 species of fish. -

Human Genet. 31, 323-329, ]986 Review Article THE ASSOCIATION OF HLA WITH DISEASES IN JAPANESE Setsuya NAITO Second Department of Internal Medicine, Fukuoka University Medical School, Fukuoka 814-01, Japan Summao, The diseases associated with HLA in Japanese, for which more than two laboratories have confirmed the association, were listed. The association first reported by Japanese researchers and confirmed by researchers of other countries like the association of narcolepsy and HLA- DR2 was stressed. There are some diseases like Takayasu' disease, the association of which was found and confirmed only in Japanese. On the other hand, there are many diseases, the association of which has been reported in the races other than Japanese. Extremely close association of HLA-B27 and ankylosing spondilitis has been observed in Japanese as well as the other races, but as to the other B27 related diseases the association is not clear in Japanese. HLA antigens associated with type I diabetes mel- litus in Japanese are HLA-Bw54, DR4.1 and DwYT, which are quite different from the ones in Caucasians. The haplotype comparable to Caucasian A1-B8-DR3-Dw3 has not been found in Japanese. The mech- anisms of the associations are still remain to be resolved. Some influential hypotheses such as the presence of Ir and Is genes linked to HLA loci and a single mutation were discussed. Introduction Intensive studies on the association of HLA with various diseases have been done throughout the world during over a past decade and the most of the associa- tion have been established. Now many researchers on this field have concentrated their efforts to find out causes of the association.
