Seven Seas Music Signs Canadian Hip-Hop Act The Lytics

San Francisco, CA, June 26, 2019 -- Seven Seas Music, the leading high-quality sync licensing company for international music in film, television, advertising, and new media, has signed a non-exclusive contribution agreement with Winnipeg-based hip-hop group The Lytics. Most recently, Seven Seas placed their 2016 track “Friction” in an iShot commercial airing now. Seven Seas has also placed the song “Hold On,” off the group’s eponymous 2016 EP, in the film DUDE in 2017, as well as the previously mentioned “Friction” in music documentary The Remix: x Fashion in 2018, which was screened at the Tribeca Film Festival.

The Lytics is composed of family members Anthony, Andrew, and Alex Sannie; their cousin Mungala Londe; and “adopted” brother Lonnie Ce. Breaking onto the Winnipeg music scene in 2009 with the single “Big City Soundgirl,” the collective continues to play sold out shows across Canada alongside other influential acts from across the continent including , , and . Their music has been praised for its nostalgia and transformative old-school hip-hop sound by Exclaim!, Winnipeg Free Press, CBC, NOW Magazine, Beatroute, and various Canadian music blogs. They have performed for audiences on all playing fields, including conferences such as Canadian Music Week and NXNE and festivals like The Great Escape in Brighton.

“Ever since we started working with their music back in 2017, we knew that The Lytics was a group to keep an eye on. Their spin on classic hip-hop is an exhilarating take on an old-school sound that is perfect for sync — an incredible addition to the Seven Seas catalog,” said Brooke Wentz, Co-Founder and CEO of Seven Seas Music. “We’re incredibly happy to have them on-board with the platform and are looking forward to supporting them through sync in every way we can.”

“Seven Seas has brought our music to ears that we never thought we’d reach — we were blown away when we heard about the iShot placement!” said Andrew Sannie of The Lytics. “The boys and I are confident about our sound and the way it’s going to move the world, thanks to the support that we get from our fans and platforms like Seven Seas.”
