Fisk Named to Haskins Award Watch List The Eagles host the Schenkel Invitational March 15-17 at Forest Heights Country Club. Marc Gignac Men's Golf Posted: 3/11/2019 12:16:00 PM STATESBORO – Georgia Southern men's golf senior Steven Fisk has been named to the Haskins Award Watch List for the second consecutive season, it was announced today.

Created by the Haskins Commission, the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel is presented to the "Most Outstanding Collegiate Golfer of the Year." Known as the "Heisman of Golf," the Haskins Award has been named in honor of Fred Haskins, who dedicated his career as Head Professional at the Country Club of Columbus in teaching junior golfers the art of competitive golf.

Fisk capped the fall season by winning medalist or co-medalist honors in four consecutive tournaments. It's a streak not seen in NCAA Division I golf since NC State's Matt Hill in 2009 and the first time any Eagle golfer has won four straight tournaments.

Fisk shot a combined 48-under-par in the 12 rounds, was under par in all 12 and shot in the 60s in his last eight. He shared medalist honors at the Shoal Creek Invitational and won the next three events outright, posting a lower score in each tournament. He now has seven career wins, one shy of the Georgia Southern record, set by Jodie Mudd from 1979-82. Fisk has placed in the top-25 in all eight events this season.

The Haskins Award winner is annually voted on by Division I players, coaches, and select golf media, thus truly making it the players' award. Haskins Award winners over the years include such notables as , , and .

Georgia Southern continues its spring season when the Eagles host the Schenkel Invitational, one of the most prestigious tournaments in college golf, March 15-17 at Forest Heights Country Club.
