When the Israelites gathered more than their daily portion of manna, the surplus became wormy and rotten. In the same way today, self-reliance, pride and ego leads to hoarding and excessive surplus of goods and money. Living a stewardship lifestyle helps us discern our “wants” from our “needs”. Living a grateful and generous lifestyle reminds us that God will provide all that we need and that we have plenty to share .

Sacrament of the Sick: You are encouraged to seek the Sacrament of the Sick if you are suffering from a serious illness or are going to be admitted to the hospital for surgery. Please contact the office if you would like to be anointed, or be added to our prayer corner. HIPA rules do not allow hospitals to acknowledge if you are a patient. It is up to you or your family to contact us if you would a visit from Father Goodwin. Sacrament for Baptism: Contact Father Goodwin for preparation class. This can be done prior to birth of the child. Check with the Parish office to schedule the Baptism. Sacrament of Marriage: Contact Father Goodwin at least one year in advance.

St. Maurice’s now offers automatic giving via an ACH transaction? This convenient form of giving is a safe and easy way to support our parish. The transaction is initiated at your bank, so all you need to do to take advantage of this ser- vice is to complete an ACH form, which can be found outside Bev’s office. Additionally, if you have already signed up to give via ACH, but would like to change your monthly contribution, please update the same form. If you have any questions regarding completing the form, please feel free to contact Len Splichal or Miranda Muscha. Once complete, the ACH form can be turned in to Len, Miranda, or Bev. As a reminder, it is important to keep your bank information confidential and, therefore, please make sure to place your form in a sealed envelope.

Outside Our Parish Can You Help Walk with Mom’s in Need? Pregnant and parenting moms in need are in our parishes and neighborhoods. As Pope Francis reminds us, our parishes need to be “islands of mercy in the midst of the sea of indifference.” Everyone in the parish community should know where to refer a pregnant woman in need. Inspired by St. John Paul II’s papal encyclical Evangelium Vitae (The Gospel of Life) to assess our efforts in building a culture of life, the intention ofWalking with Moms in Need is to increase our outreach to pregnant and parenting women facing difficulties. To learn more about how to participate in this joint effort, please contact Tim Mosser, Respect Life Director at the Diocese of Fargo, at (701) 356-7900 or [email protected]. Or to learn more about services to pregnant women in need, contact Kris Haycraft, Director of Pregnancy, and Adoption Services at Catholic Charities North Dakota at (701)235-4457 or [email protected] The Diocese of Fargo will be hosting an end of the summer event titled XLT (exalt) on August 4, for all students in grade 7-12. XLT will begin with Ultimate Frisbee at 4:00 pm at the soccer fields behind Shanley High School. After frisbee (5:00 pm) youth will be dismissed so they can shower and return to the Pastoral Center for dinner at 6:00 pm. At 7:00 pm, we will transition into the chapel for praise and worship, a keynote presentation by Mark Hollcraft, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
