Tech Academy Movie Maker Project

1. Import Video Clip (Import as whole clip! Do not “create clips for video files!”)

a. “Stamp Act” and/or “First ” b. In collection pane, double click to play video and then Pause.

2. Split Video (Optional) a. Cut off any beginning and ending “black space.”

3. Drag video(s) onto storyboard.

4. Import Picture at beginning a. “Thomas_Johnson_governor.jpg” i. (Note for future: PowerPoint slides can be saved as JPEG and imported.)

5. Extend Length of Pictures from 5 Second Default a. 20-30 seconds

6. Add Titles On the picture a. Thomas Johnson b. Choose font, size, color c. Fade Ellipse Wipe

7. Add Video Effects ON Thomas Johnson a. Fade In, from Black and/or Film Age, Oldest

8. Take Picture Snapshot from Video a. Save photo b. INSERT onto storyboard at end

9. Mute video sound a. Select in timeline, Clip>Audio>Mute

10. Add Narration a. Tools>Narrate Timeline>Start Narration b. Save in same folder/location

Narration examples: • Thomas Johnson was born in Calvert County, Maryland. • He became a lawyer and served in the Maryland Colonial Assembly. • He was integral in the fight against the Stamp Act in 1765. • While a member of the Continental Congress, Thomas Johnson nominated to be the Commander in Chief of the Continental army. • In 1776, he served as the Commander of the Maryland militia. • Thomas Johnson served as the first from 1777-1779. • Thomas Johnson also served in the U.S. Supreme Court from 1791-1793.

14. Finish Movie (.wmv) a. Allow plenty of time!
