www.olrfc.co.ukwww.olrfc.co.uk Welcome to the Crofts, home of OL’s. A special welcome also goes to the players, management and coaches of Woodrush RFC, our opponents today. I promise not to go all moony about Autumn again, but it is glorious and we are seeing the best Fall foliage for years Since my last programme piece we have had the EGM to discuss the proposed collaboration with the Wasps Rugby Club, and I can report that Project Nest, as expected, is good to go! The Committee and sub-group have worked hard to get a good deal for the club and to secure our future independence whilst embracing the benefits of joint co-operation over much enhanced facilities. We will continue to monitor every phase of the project but are grateful to the patience and goodwill shown by our colleagues at the Premiership club. In the meantime - Pitch 1 is looking good and is still on schedule to be fit to play on for the Patrons‘ Lunch on the 27th October. In preparation you will see we have been fortunate to have had a free demo of a satellite navigated line marking machine on site. Additionally a special game is organised prior to the kick off on the 27th when our brand new team ‘The Hornets’ will play their first ever match. Please come along and support them . September has been a very impressive month on the pitch seeing the Firsts winning four out of five league matches and in the process amassing 176 points. I should mention the hard work that goes into getting two regular teams out each week and thanks go to Craig Ellis and his team for their effort. The Seconds had a gutsy win against a very physical Barker Butts last weekend and the Colts remain unbeaten, The Ladies have won their first game of the season and I hope this success continues for all. I shall leave the M & J report to Lucas but I’ve witnessed the incredible enthusiasm from all players and coaches in that section also and I wish them all the best as their season starts and for their Festival tomorrow. In my first Programme address of the season I appealed for all players and ex-players who are not currently involved to think about turning out. We will need strong squads to ensure we can meet all out League fixtures. However there are some occasional games for In expert hands Vets/Thirds players on the calendar which just need a charismatic and inspiring figure to co-coordinate. They are Friday 23 November Claverdon [h] 7.30pm, Saturday 8 December Stratford [a] 2.15pm, Saturday 9 February Alcester [h] 2.15pm, Saturday 23 February Claverdon [a] 1.00pm, Proud sponsor of Old Leamingtonians RFC Mini U8’s Saturday 6 April Shottery [h] 3.00pm.
