The world wants us to ______. 2. He will bring us again and again to the place where we finally have to ______the ______. 3. The Lord often uses desperate times to wake people up so that they will ______to Him. 4. Storms are sent by God to lead us to the place of ______. 5. It is never too late to stop ______from God. GETTING STARTED 1. What insight or observation from this week’s message did you find most helpful, eye-opening, or troubling? Explain. 2. Last week we prayed for the prodigals in our lives, those who have pulled away from God, were uncertain there is a God, or seem to reject God. Share any insights or blessings you’ve seen either in them or in your own heart for them this past week. 3. We sometimes hear people say, “well, if nothing else is working, pray” as though it’s our last resort. Why does praying sometimes feel like it’s less important than doing? 4. In the sermon, we learned that God knows each individual, knows when to send storms, and knows when they are ready for repentance. How does that change your opinion on the importance of prayer?

DIGGING DEEPER 5. God uses storms, struggles, and trials to draw each of us back to Him when we’ve strayed away in any area of our lives. Why? Why not just fix our circumstances for us before they become a problem? Dig ino these verses to answer what struggles do to our faith.

2 Chronicles 15:4, 1 Peter 1:7, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, Romans 5:3-5, and James 1:2-4

MAKING IT APPLICABLE Consider an area in your life where you’ve seen yourself drift away from God rather than toward him, i.e. attitude, behavior, habit, etc.

Share that area and one thing you will do this week to take steps toward working through that struggle, storm, or trial to draw closer to God and grow in your faith.
