How to Fly FOD? Booking Your Ticket: There are a few ways to book tickets in and out of the Fort Dodge Regional Airport. Be sure to enter good contact information when making reservation, so the airlines can reach you with any changes to your itinerary. Major Airlines Websites: You can book tickets in and out of Fort Dodge on the 3 major airlines websites listed below, by entering FOD as your departure or arrival city/airport (or following the further instructions below). NOTE: The Fort Dodge segment will be identified by a ZK, for Great Lakes. Internet Booking Engines: • You can use the internet booking engines, such as Kayak.com, Orbitz.com, Expedia.com, or Priceline.com. Please note that FOD does not work at Hotwire or Travelocity. • These sites allow you to find the best published fares • Typically, these sites will give you every option possible to get from point A to point B on multiple carriers, but this may include several stops along the way. • Most booking engines charge a fee for their services, but they can certainly save you time. • If you use a booking site to purchase tickets, you typically have to go through them to make any changes.

Sum of 2 Locals from FOD: • Log onto www.FlyGreatLakes.com to receive the lowest available rate on flights to MSP. • Then research a major ’s website to find a good fare from MSP to your destination. Make sure you leave yourself enough time to change planes in Minneapolis. • Although 2 tickets must be purchased, as mentioned above, Great Lakes has agreements with most major carriers allowing for automatic transfers of checked luggage to your connecting flight. • These tickets can be grouped together when you check-in. • There are a few airlines, such as Southwest, that do not partner with any other airlines in the transferring of luggage. You can still make these connections in MSP, but you will have to retrieve your checked bags at the baggage claim in MSP and reenter security after checking in with Southwest.

This will give you the best ticket prices between FOD and MSP. • Great Lakes does not offer pre-assigned seating. Your seat will be assigned to you upon check-in at the airport along with your boarding pass.

Starting Your Trip: • Arrive to the Fort Dodge Airport at least 1 hour before your scheduled departure. • Have the liquids and gels from your carry-on in containers less than 3.4ozs and in a quart-sized, clear, sealable baggie. The baggie will need to go through security separately, so have it ready to remove from your carry-on. • You will have to remove your shoes when going through security, so wear comfortable, slip-on shoes. • For more information regarding airport security, log onto www.tsa.gov/traveler-information. • Most airlines have similar luggage size, number, and weight restrictions: o Carry-On: at most 22” long x 14” wide x 9” deep (approx 45” linear inches-all dimensions added together) . You can have one this size and a smaller bag, such as a laptop or purse for free. o Checked Bag: at most 62” linear inches (measure the 3 dimensions and add them together) and 50 lbs . 1st bags are typically $25 and the 2nd is $35 with overweight fees from $50-$200.

Checking-In: • You can check-in on the major airline’s website for your flight into or out of Minneapolis 24 hours prior to your departure. This allows you to print your boarding pass, pay for your checked luggage, change your seat, etc. • To check in for your Great Lakes (GLA) portion go to the GLA Gate in MSP or FOD. GLA does not offer online check-in. • Go to your airline’s website, click the check-in option, and follow the steps below: Departing from Fort Dodge: o On your major airline’s website, make sure you enter MSP as your departure city, not Fort Dodge (FOD). o You will check in and get your Great Lakes boarding pass when you arrive to the airport. o Inform the Fort Dodge agent of what airline you are connecting with, your flight number, and final destination. They need this information to book your checked luggage all the way through your trip. Flying into Fort Dodge: o On your major airline’s website, remember to enter MSP as your arrival city, not Fort Dodge (FOD). You will get your Great Lakes boarding pass when you arrive at the gate in MSP. o IMPORTANT: When you check-in, make sure to tell the agent that you are traveling all the way to Fort Dodge on Great Lakes Airlines. They must tag your checked bag with your Great Lakes flight number to book your checked luggage all the way through to FOD. • It is always a good idea to confirm your arrival and departure times 24 hours before you are scheduled to leave.
