Constant data analysis through departments and administration with an accent on high-performance has provided an increase in student achievement. In order to meet the 21st century expectations, Sachse High School will: Prepare students for higher performance standards projected for STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness). Continue analysis on performance of all students groups on “common assessments” to reinforce closing achievement gaps across all sub-groups. Sachse High School Campus #010 7 of 43 Generated by Plan4Learning.com December 3, 2015 9:58 am School Culture and Climate School Culture and Climate Summary Discipline data from Review 360 shows that 35% of discipline incidents come from ninth grade student’s failure to comply with rules. This indicates a need for a ninth grade transition program that better prepares the incoming freshmen for high school responsibilities and expectations. Discipline data from Review 360 shows that 15% of the high school’s ethnic population (African American) accounts for approximately 30% of the discipline cases, indicating a need to close the discipline gap between subpopulations. Better connection between students, teachers, administration, clubs and the African American population should be a focus in 2014-2015. Classroom walkthrough data shows that about half of the classrooms observed were not showing differentiated instructional strategies for Special Education, ESL, and other student groups. Classroom walkthrough data shows that student work is being produced at a low level of Blooms Taxonomy. College and career readiness demands that classroom instruction be at the top level of Blooms Taxonomy. The student survey shows that approximately 30% of students do not feel like they are part of their school, nor do they feel close to people at school, showing a disconnect. This indicates a need for clubs to advertise their groups better and be more inviting to others. This also indicates that bullying may be a problem to be addressed. School Culture and Climate Strengths 2013 Region 10 ESC Climate and Culture focus group indicates: 1. Teachers promote a positive school culture, encourage and maintain a safe classroom environment, and demonstrate care. 2. Teachers demonstrate respect for diversity and relationships through equality and equity in the classroom. 3. Sachse High School maintains several clubs and organizations for diverse groups such as the Gay/Strait Alliance, Multicultural Committee, Fired Up Dancers and Showstoppers.
