2 My name is Bérangère Noni and I am pleased to present the project I created with my Swedish life partner, Fredrik Rönnbäck.

WINEGIRL is a French-Swedish family-owned company and was born in 2015 when I settled with my “Viking” in . Prior to moving to Gothenburg, I married my passion to my career. Hence, it became obvious to share my roots with the Swedish lovers by teaming up with Fredrik for the operational side. We are both passionate by the pleasure of a discovery given by a glass of wine. We like authentic wines, wines that are to share and that bring people together; that tell a story and recall a terroir.

WINEGIRL – A PASSION BACK TO THE ROOTS

My love for wine comes from Bordeaux, where I grew up, surrounded by and the descendants of wine producers as friends. This provided my chance to discover the fascinating world of wine with its different varieties, different blends, within different appellations, produced by thousands wine producers.

My wine journey started during school trips at Domaine de Grandmaison, Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Château Larrivet-Haut-Brion and Château Haut-Bailly. Before 10 years old I was aware of all the steps from the vine to the bottle. Later on, my father took me with him to visit all the châteaux in the area. As a teenager, I used to do summer jobs in the of Domaine de Chevalier; one of the top châteaux in the Pessac-Léognan Appellation.

From 2006 to 2015, I decided to carry on my journey with experiences that sent me to Napa, Madrid, Paris and Hong Kong and resulting with a MBA in Wine Marketing and Management from INSEEC in Paris. I worked on all aspects of wine promotion; as a Customer care (Darioush Winery), Community Manager (Intothewine – Château Paveil de Luze), Sales (Lavinia), Brand Ambassador (François Thienpont) and Project Manager (Château Smith Haut Lafitte and Château Suduiraut).

Thus after travelling the world, to discover different ways of producing and drinking wine, my passion brings me back to my roots, my identity, my terroir.

Bérangère & Fredrik 3 FRENCH WINES - AN IMPRESSIVE HERITAGE & A REAL PHILOSOPHY

In France, food and wine are officially recognized as national cultural treasures. Nothing is better than sitting for hours in good company in a restaurant for lunch or dinner while sharing some wine.

Nowadays, wine is made everywhere, from Canada to New Zealand, as well as in surprising places like Japan and China. However, French winemaking techniques, such as its viticultural practices and French grape varieties, have been adopted by wine producers all around the world.

Like French food, French wines remain the most famous cultural habits adopted by people. The fundamental concept of terroir, which is the idea that the location determines the quality of the wine, was born in France and became the most relevant notion. Without the right terroir it would be impossible to make great wines. Terroir is the perfect combination of factors including soil, climate, and sunlight that give wine their distinctive character.

French wines are mostly famous for the Grands Crus, the prestigious wines. But today, wine consumers are more willing to discover daily and affordable wines.

FAMILLE PISANI-FERRY

Château de Targé has a long history starting in 1655. Since then, the property has been kept in the family, and each generation contributed to its construction and reputation.

Edouard Pisani-Ferry, agricultural engineer in winemaking, inherited the Château in 1976. In the 90’s, he started environmental-friendly practises both in the vineyard and in the cellar. He is a member of the Terra Vitis association, which closely controls the wine making since 2000. Edouard Pisani-Ferry has been joined by his son, Paul, to continue the family legacy.

The vineyard, 21 hectares, is located along the hills overlooking Loire in the heart of Saumur region on a specific soil made of clay and Tuffeau; a limestone from the Turonian era, 90 million years ago. The subsoil was formed during the Upper Cretaceous period by sedimentation, as did those of Vouvray, Crus de Chablis and Crayeuse.

26 FAMILLE PONTY

Possessing some of the most beautiful landscapes in Bordeaux, Canon Fronsac is the smallest AOC of the right bank. It shares the best terroirs with neighbours Saint-Emilion and Pomerol, allowing for the production of stronger and more substantial wines.

The Ponty winery was started by Victor Ponty in 1905. Born in a family of farmers in France, Victor started his wine business with a passion for wine and little money saved up from his hard work on the fields. In 1925, he saved enough to purchase his first property, Château du Pavillon, and then thirteen years later his second property, Château Grand Renouil.

Five generations later, Helene Ponty is todays proud owner of the family business. The first woman to take over the Ponty winery, Helene employs the expertise passed down from her great-grandfather to maintain the family’s signature style of elegant, age-worthy wines.

Ponty wines are known for their perfect balance, freshness, and subtle use of oak. Typical winemaking techniques include harvesting all vines by hand, zero use of herbicides, and storing the wines in methodically planned combinations of new and 1-year old French oak barrels from Chateau Haut- Brion., Classified Grand Cru of Graves.

The Ponty familly’s goal is to produce wines that can withstand the test of time, in the traditional Bordeaux style. Ponty wines are known to be fine and elegant, with a very good balance and always well-integrated tannins.

27 CHÂTEAU DU PAVILLON – 2012 CANON FRONSAC AOC ITEM NO. CHPAV 12

Dating from the 19th century, Château du Pavillon is historically the first vineyard of the Ponty Family, a symbol of Canon Fronsac wines and a symbol of the family, located on the plateau of Fronsac. Created in 1925 by Victor Ponty himself, Chateau du Pavillon is today a symbol of Canon Fronsac wines. This small property gets its name from the small “Pavillon”, a guard house located at the entrance of the estate. This vineyard has belonged to the Ponty family for almost 100 years, and is also where the family chateau is located.

As the first wine created, Château du Pavillon perfectly represents the traditional Bordeaux style: an elegant wine, rich and complex, with subtle oaky notes, a lot of fruit and freshness, and perfect balance. Using 100% Merlot, the privileged grape variety of Bordeaux right bank, the Château du Pavillon wine has a lot of elegance and shows a beautiful ruby color with purple glints. Rich and highly complex, it marries hints of oaked nose with violet, cherry, and tobacco notes, ending in a mellow finish of great length. This wine reveals slight smokiness due to the oak ageing and an excellent texture with fine velvety tannins.

35 FAMILLE FABRE

Since 1605, the Fabre family has been living in the Languedoc region and expressing its love for this land through its wines.

Famille Fabre estate is one of the oldest in the Languedoc. Today, the family owns four estates in Corbières. These various sceneries imply a great diversity of soils, landscapes and grape varieties allowing them to fashion a broad collection of wines.

Famille Fabre only offers organic wines which represents a deep-rooted conviction. Louis Fabre, in 1991, was among the first vignerons to grow organic, long before organic farming became a trend. It is an essential approach for the family, a mark of respect to the vines and the land they grow on.

The 17th generation, with Paule, Jeanne and Clémence brings a new dynamism.

36 DOMAINE GRANDE COURTAGE

Grande Courtade means “large sunny courtyard” in Occitan, and is nestled between Béziers, the sea and the Roman site of Ensérune.

The Fabre family has grown vines here since 1763, in a south-facing sun-drenched amphitheater formed when a shallow lake was drained in medieval times.

Clay soil below permits white wines to keep all their freshness while the sand and limestone content above allows elaborate rosé wines of great quality. Higher up on the hillside, the positioning is ideal for grapes to reach perfect maturity when producing the red wines.

The Grande Courtage perfectly combines sun and grape varieties to offer up freshness, richness and distinctive fruit. This is a magical “instant!” that is captured in the bottles.
