Following graduation, he spent time playing on the United States Tennis Association Pro Circuit. In 2001, he finished ranked No. 1 in Men’s 30s Singles in Southern California and #10 in the United States.

Hammond and his wife, Amy, former Arizona State Pac-10 platform diving champion in 1994, have two sons, Eric and Kevin.
