With the parking lot already quite occupied adjacent the Gate 10 entrance nearly an hour before the private training session for Derby/Oaks horses, the crowd, although not nearly as mighty as it was a day ago, was pretty well- spread throughout the backside. Eclipse Thoroughbred=s Aron Wellman chatted with Dortmund a group by the gap Sherackatthetrack recalling the walkover for last year=s Derby with Danza (Street Boss) and the GI Arkansas Derby winner=s namesake, actor Tony Danza. The lightly raced chestnut ran well in defeat to finish a solid third. Morning-line odds maker Mike Battaglia was spotted making the rounds while the Derby runners began to hit the track as the sky began to get a bit brighter behind the grandstand and iconic Twin Spires. Dortmund (Big Brown) and American Pharoah (Pioneerof the Nile) entered the track like they owned the place--nothing new there--while Tencendur (Warrior=s Reward) briefly set up shop near the clubhouse turn to take in the scenery. El Kabeir (Scat Daddy) and Frosted (Tapit) may have had onlookers seeing double as the two grays, both piloted by exercise riders wearing blue, galloped by in rapid-fire succession.

the theory and application of PRECISION MECHANICAL COMPONENTS the theory and application of PRECISION .MECHANICAL COMPONENTS a "guide for engineers, designers, draftsmen, and technicians by Winfred M. Berg, Me. Second Edition RUSSELL E. SACKEN, Inc. East Rockaway, N. Y. 1965 PUBLISHED & COPYRIGHTED 1965 R US S ELL E. SAC KEN inc. EAST ROCKAWAY, NEW YORK PRINTED IN U.S.A. i PREFACE This handbook for designers, engineers and draftsmen is con cerned with the precise transmission of motion from one precision instrument component to another. Its purposes are to: (1) familiarize designers, engineers and draftsmen with standardized precision mechanical instrument com ponents; (2) provide basic design information which will help build better systems; and (3) explain the design and engineering advan tages and disadvantages of a wide variety of such precise components and equipment available in today's market. The electronic-mechanical precision instrument field is a relatively new one in which practitioners have independently developed their own ways of working - some good, some not so good. This hand}-look is the first attempt to centralize in one volume preferred methods of practice and to present helpful techniques, skills and basic tricks of the trade. It will be of particular aid to electronic and mechanical engineers, laboratory technicians, beginners, draftsmen and to de signers who work only occasionally in the precision instrument field. It will also be of value to experienced designers and engineers whose present knowledge may be expanded and improved. n Winfred M. He is the American Association of Equine Practitioners on-call veterinarian for the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks. We're very happy to have Dr. Latson here. He was here with us last year and back with us here, succeeding Dr. Larry Bramlage in that job. Number 11, Sarah Sis, pulled up and did not finish in the Kentucky Oaks. And Dr. Latson has come forward. We appreciate him stopping by to give us an update on her condition. Again, this regards Number 11, Sarah Sis, who did not finish in the Kentucky Oaks. Dr. Latson. DR. KEITH LATSON: Thanks, John. Gary Stevens eased Sarah Sis to a stop about midstretch because she just didn't feel right to him. Nothing specific that he could identify while he was on top of her. She just didn't feel right. He hopped off, and Dr. Will Farmer attended to Sarah Sis immediately. And it was obvious that she was standing on all four legs comfortably, no apparent injury to any of her limbs. She walked comfortably to be loaded on the equine ambulance where Dr. Liz Santschi attended to her for the ride back to the barn. When she was unloaded from the ambulance at the barn, Dr. Foster Northrop had a look at her. And she was still walking. Sarah Sis was still walking comfortably in the barn and was being treated for mild heat exhaustion. So it was a precautionary measure to take her back in the ambulance and for Gary Stevens to wrap up on her and ask her to stop.
