MPD has confirmed homicide investigators are on the case. Sources say he was shot multiple times, atleast a dozen times. Wright's mother, Deborah Marion, arrived at the scene Wednesday night with a handful of family members. She crossed the crime scene tape and tried to talk to police when she was told to move back. She sat in a TV van before returning to the tape. Two officers then let her through. The distraught Marion then started running down the road toward the crime scene before being stopped by an officer. She spoke with officers, then walked back past reporters • Hundreds Gather Around Wright Crime… without speaking straight to a van. • Coaches, Former Teammates, and Friends… Wright's body was found in a wooded area off of Hacks • Search Continues for Lorenzen Wright Cross and Winchester. The body was located behind the Fieldstone Apartments in Southwind. Family members and former players such as Elliot Perry and Penny Hardaway were also at the scene. Former NBA star Penny Hardaway, who played at Memphis two years before Wright, said he heard the news from a friend and went to the scene near where the body was found. "I cried. The emotions hit me immediately. It's just sad because we lost a good person and a brother," Hardaway said. Elliot Perry, another friend and former Memphis player, also was at the scene. Wendy Wilson, who once worked as Wright's personal assistant, also was there and said Wright often used the road police had cordoned off as a shortcut to his mother's house. "He was a good person. He did not deserve to die this way. God is not pleased with this," Wilson said. A police report filed in Collierville said his ex-wife Sherra Wright stated that she was concerned and that he probably had a large amount of cash on him. Sherra told FOX13 a week made her worry. She said his going a couple of days without talking to their children has happened before but never a whole week. http://www.myfoxmemphis.com/dpp/news/local/072810-lorenzen-wright's-body-found 7/29/2010 Page 2 of 5 Police are looking into a 911 call from Wright's cell phone the day he went missing. The call was a hang-up. Wright's former assistant said police need to investigate Wright's wife and her friends. He and Sherra divorced in February of this year. Monday marked more than a week since he was last seen by family at his ex-wife's house. Wright visited his mother in Collierville Saturday the 17th then his ex-wife and 6 kids, who also live in Collierville, on Sunday. There was a report he got his haircut in Memphis the next day but nothing more. Debora Marion, his mother, had not heard from her son since Sunday of last week. "That's not like him. He doesn't just disappear. No one hear from him. If I don't hear from him his daughter Laura hears from him. All the time," said Marion in an interview with FOX 13. "How could he just disappear? Even with the barbershop with Tavio. The person that he was with, I know they are from Memphis and somebody has seen the news. Somebody would call somebody and she would say Lorenzen your family is looking for you. You need to call somebody," pleaded Marion while looking for her son. "She said she had laid down and woke up and he was gone in her van. Then she went back and laid down again. When she woke up again her van was back but he was gone," said Marion while talking about the last time his ex-wife had seen him. Wright played 13 years in the NBA with five different teams: the Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and most recently the Cleveland Cavaliers with 17 games in the 2008-09 season. Wright left the University of Memphis early for the NBA, and the Clippers made him a lottery pick with the No. 7 selection overall. He averaged 8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in 778 career games. "RIP Memphis Tiger alum Lorenzen Wright," Chris Douglas-Roberts of the Milwaukee Bucks posted on his Twitter account. Douglas-Roberts said he didn't know what had happened to Wright or want to know. I swear, I'll never understand why people who do not believe in God find it necessary to be so hateful and spew anything to antagonize those that do. If you don't believe - fine. But, why always ready with the snark remarks to those who don't? It makes you wonder why you protest His existence so much... Numbers game -- The Washington Times The Washington Times www.washingtontimes.com Numbers game By Patrick Hruby THE WASHINGTON TIMES Published April 13, 2004 Everyone else has it wrong. The fans. The press. Even the league. They're blinded by box scores. Hamstrung by hype. Of this and more, Wayne Winston is certain. A single mouse click tells him so. "Nobody should be talking about LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony," he says. "They should be talking about Dwyane Wade. It's a crime." For Winston, Wade's superiority is not a matter of opinion. It's a fact, cold and hard, like an icicle. You can argue politics, and you can argue the best "Godfather" flick (well, excluding part III). But when it comes to the NBA Rookie of the Year race, you can't argue the data. At least not with Winston, a former "Jeopardy" champ who's good with math the way Eric Clapton is good with chords. "James rates as an average NBA player," says Winston, a professor of decision sciences at Indiana University. "That's good since very few rookies rate that high. But Wade's a real impact player for Miami. He ranks 21st best in the league in terms of changing the chances of your team winning a game." Like any MIT graduate worth his sodium chloride, Winston has the numbers to prove his point. More than 5,000 pages' worth, to be exact. Only you won't find his statistics in a newspaper. Together with fellow sports math guru Jeff Sagarin -- the brain behind USA Today's computer rankings -- Winston has created Winval, a sophisticated program that rates and ranks the value of every NBA player from Tariq Abdul-Wahad to Lorenzen Wright.

6 shaq and kobe Why study sports? The obvious answer—sports are interesting. Of course we are not saying that other topics examined in economics are not interesting. Well . maybe we should say this. Someone should at some point say that a few topics ex- amined by economists—mind you, we are not naming names and we are just say- ing a few—are really not interesting. The topics are not interesting to us, our stu- dents, or probably most non-economists. We are not even sure these topics are interesting to most other economists. So we are drawn to sports because we find this subject to be interesting. There is more to the story. As we noted at the onset, with sports you have numbers. Oo- dles and oodles and oodles—that is a scientific term which means “a whole bunch” or “lots and lots”—of numbers are generated in the world of sports. Each and every day a game is played somewhere. In that game people record the actions of each individual player. This record, or the data, can be used by economists to address an assortment of interesting and entertaining questions.1 What is the purpose of tracking all the data collected in sports? We talked about this in Chapter One. Still, we wanted to mention another great answer to this ques- tion which was provided by Allen Barra: “Stat Nerds” they snort contemptuously at me, and probably at you, too, if you’re smart enough to have picked up this book—but the truth is that they depend as much on numbers as anyone else when it comes to making decisions.

I know that sounds harsh, but the Nets are the lone club in this division to play over .500 ball the past two years. The Knicks have to know they must win now because the future looks bleak due to some of the moves made by Isiah Thomas to acquire Stephon Marbury and others. Backcourt has gone from average to exceptional by adding Marbury last season and Jamal Crawford in the offseason. Allan Houston and Penny Hardaway back them up. Frontcourt size still appears missing in my opinion. Somewhere between 40-48 wins. 2. Philadelphia 76ers - Allen Iverson could be due for one of his best seasons ever. New Head Coach Jim O’Brien won with the Celtics and helped them return to the postseason. He brings discipline and emphasis on defense. Samuel Dalembert is the best center in the Atlantic. His rebounding, defense and sparingly scores. Don’t be stunned to see the Sixers use Iverson some at point guard. It will allow them to get rookie Andre Iguodala into the lineup alongside forwards Corliss Williamson and Glenn Robinson. 3. Toronto Raptors - Must shoot the ball better and more consistently, plus get some rebounding from someone other than Chris Bosh. Have three very great talents in Vince Carter, Jalen Rose and Donyell Marshall (all of which want the rock in their hands). Signing fabulous ball handler Rafer Alston helps if Alvin Williams does not play up to par.
