Cardinals’ Chirps…  Last game... The Wind Surge struck with single tallies in the 7th and 8th to edge the Cardinals, 6-5, on Sunday and thwart Springfield’s attempt at their first series win of the young season. The Cardinals jumped in front with a 1B Luken Baker grand slam in the 1st inning, but Wichita plated one run in each the 1st, 3rd and 4th innings to pull within one. A run-scoring double-play ball from DH Alec Burleson plated one in the 5th to make it 5-3, but Wichita again battled back with one run in the 5th, before tying it in the 7th and moving on front on a run-scoring wild pitch in the 8th, taking the 6-5 win to split the set.  Cards bats are hot… When at the plate, the Cardinals are among the best in the Double-A Central. As a team, Springfield stands among league team hitting leaders in average (.253, 2nd), hits (196, 2nd), total bases (305, 4th), slugging (.394, 2nd) and OPS (.723, 3rd).
