Then there are artists who simply play with such I decided, during 2012 to put together a CD comprising of some verve and joi de vivre that they make the common sound fresh and alive and that is of my favourite Blues tracks. I started to record the CD in April 2013 where Chris Bevington finds himself – this album is full of the classic sounds of at Tremolo Studios in Newcastle, Staffs with the support and Blues and soul but it has a great life and swing.

Catalogue of Photographs of Performers and Shows in the Archives of the Embassy Theatre Foundation The archives of the Embassy Theatre Foundation hold more than 3000 artifacts, including more than 600 photographs of vaudevillians inscribed to Bud Berger (long-time stage man- ager at the Embassy Theatre, known as the Emboyd until 1952); more than 300 posters, playbills, programs, stools, and even guitars signed by the stars and casts of shows that have played at the Embassy Theatre over the past forty years, rang- ing from classic and current Broadway shows to acrobatic groups, choral ensembles, dance shows, ballet, stand-up comedians, rock bands, country singers, travel films, silent films, theatre organists, and so on; and hundreds of publicity photographs of performers, shows, and events at the theatre, primarily from the period following the establishment of the Embassy Theatre Foundation and its rescue of the theatre from the wrecking ball in 1975; and a nearly complete run of the journal of the American Theatre Organ Society. The archive is now almost fully catalogued and preserved in archival housing. Earlier excerpts from the catalogue (available on the Archives page of the Embassy Theatre’s web site) cover the photographs inscribed to Bud Berger and the posters, playbills, programs, stools, and so on from later shows at the Embassy. This is the third excerpt, covering the public- ity photographs of the last forty-five years and a few photographs of earlier events, Bud Berger, and other members of the stage crew. The publicity photographs are primarily of individ- ual performers, but a few shows are presented as well, including Ain’t Misbehavin’, Annie, Barnum, Bubbling Brown Sugar, Cabaret, California Suite, Cats, A Christ- mas Carol, Dancin’, Evita, Gypsy, I'm Getting My Act Together And Taking It On The Road, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Peter Pan, Same Time Next Year, Side by Side by Sondheim, and Ziegfeld: A Night at the Follies.

  • ARSC Journal
CURRENT BIBLIOGRAPHY by Tim Brooks Much important and interesting research on recording history and artists appears in small and generally unindexed collectors publications. It is the purpose of this column to help readers find these articles, and to keep abreast of the latest research in all fields of interest to the ARSC membership. If you write to one of these journals or authors, please mention ARSC and "Current Bibliography." A lot of them have no idea who we are! To be included here an article must be in English, reasonably original, and deal with recording history--as opposed to musicological, sociological or current collecting subjects (such as LP reviews, record prices, current artists, etc.). Current Bibliography supplements the less frequent Bibliography of Discographies in that a great many non discographic articles of interest are included here (artist biographies, label and genre histories, repair and preservation techniques, etc.). "W/D" indicates that the article did include a discography, although this is often no more than a simple list of releases by catalog number. The listing this time is rather lengthy, due to the long gap between issues of the Journal. Issues covered are those received between February 1986 and July 1987. Most issues listed here should still be available from the publishers, at the addresses indicated below. Among the new publications listed this time are Rockin' 50s, a slick little bi-monthly from Bill Griggs (longtime head of the Buddy Holly Memorial Society) which focusses on '50s rock music of all artists; and Show Music, from ARSC member Max Preeo. Although the latter-rs-concerned mainly with current Broadway recordings, interesting historical articles by Richard C.

  • The Moody Blues Tour / Set List Project - Updated April 9, 2006
The Moody Blues Tour / Set List Project - updated April 9, 2006 compiled by Linda Bangert Please send any additions or corrections to Linda Bangert ([email protected]) and notice of any broken links to Neil Ottenstein ([email protected]). This listing of tour dates, set lists, opening acts, additional musicians was derived from many sources, as noted on each file. Of particular help were "Higher and Higher" magazine and their website at www.moodies- magazine.com and the Moody Blues Official Fan Club (OFC) Newsletters. For a complete listing of people who contributed, click here. Particular thanks go to Neil Ottenstein, who hosts these pages, and to Bob Hardy, who helped me get these pages converted to html. One-off live performances, either of the band as a whole or of individual members, are not included in this listing, but generally can be found in the Moody Blues FAQ in Section 8.7 - What guest appearances have the band members made on albums, television, concerts, music videos or print media? under the sub-headings of "Visual Appearances" or "Charity Appearances". The current version of the FAQ can be found at www.toadmail.com/~notten/FAQ-TOC.htm I've construed "additional musicians" to be those who played on stage in addition to the members of the Moody Blues. Although Patrick Moraz was legally determined to be a contract player, and not a member of the Moody Blues, I have omitted him from the listing of additional musicians for brevity. Moraz toured with the Moody Blues from 1978 through 1990. From 1965-1966 The Moody Blues were Denny Laine, Clint Warwick, Mike Pinder, Ray Thomas and Graeme Edge, although Warwick left the band sometime in 1966 and was briefly replaced with Rod Clarke.

  • YARDBIRDS, 10Cc, & Graham Gouldman
YARDBIRDS, 10CC, & GRAHAM GOULDMAN by Alan L. Chrisman The Yardbirds were a legendary British Blues-rock band in the 60’s. Especially because three well-known guitarists came out of one band at one point or another: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. They started out as a blues band, replacing The Stones at the Crawdaddy Club in Richmond, England. But Clapton left the band in ’65 because he didn’t like their commercial direction and he joined John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, to be replaced by Page and later, Jeff Beck, who was known for first experimenting with guitar feedback. The Yardirds also make an appearance in Antonioni’s film, Blowup in 1966. Their first big commercial hits though, “ For Your Love” and “Heart Full of Soul’”were written by songwriter, Graham Gouldman. The still-teenage Gouldman, very influenced by The Beatles, had original planned to give them his song, “For Your Love” , but that night the Yardbirds were opening for The Beatles and he gave it to Jimmy Page instead and it became The Yardbirds’ first big hit. Gouldman also wrote several hits for The Hollies (“ Bus Stop”, “Look Through Any Window”), Herman’s Hermits ( “No Milk Today”) and many others. He briefly replaced, Wayne Fontana of The Mindbenders after their hit, “The Game of Love”, where he met his future 10cc bandmate, Eric Stewart. Kevin Godley and Lol Creme would then join Stewart and Gouldman under the name, Hotlegs and have an international single with “Neanderthal Man” in 1970. The four would then form the art-rock band 10cc.
