 !"# $#$%# !&'( & , & #) - 2012-13 MOLLOY WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PROSPECTUS

A season ago, Head Coach Tim O’Hagan and the Molloy College women’s basketball team captured the No. 6 seed, and a berth in the East Coast Conference Tournament, with an 11-16 overall re- cord. This year, O’Hagan has a group of seniors that won an ECC title in 2009-10, and knows that they want to be remembered as the class who did it twice.

The goal, come March, is to win 15 or more games and clinch a home playo# berth. With a new style of play predicated on ex- ceptional three-point shooting, O’Hagan feels that if the Lions hit their shots on game day, the East Coast Conference Champi- onship, and a spot in the NCAA Tournament can be theirs.

As for his team, the seventh-year head coach credits them with being the most athletic group he has seen. This year’s squad boasts incredibly talented shooters who have the athleticism to quickly get up and down the & oor.

Freshman Alex Hampton (Baldwin, N.Y.) is a pleasant addition to the Molloy roster this year. N.Y.) has also been a nice surprise in the two-spot for O’Hagan. He credits her with being a shooter who has a special touch. O’Hagan credits her with being one of the toughest kids on his team, and “will put nothing past her,” in his expectations At the No. 3 position are seniors Ashley Addison (East Hanover, for her once she rejoins the maroon and white. N.J.) and Ikema Ross (East Patchogue, N.Y.) . Addison has in- credible potential, and sports a great ability to cut and score. At the two-guard, senior Christina Marra (Dix Hills, N.Y.) has Meanwhile, Ross‘s maturity, and responses to coaching make been “unbelievable” this year. An ECC All-Rookie team selection in 2011-12, she brings athleticism and versatility to the court. Arnone can rebound and score, and will often be responsible for bringing the ball up the court. Arnone is the second-leading scorer returning for O’Hagan this year.

Freshman Kimani Jackson (Dix Hills, N.Y.) has the most poten- tial on the team, according to O’Hagan. After sitting out her ju- nior and senior years of high school due to injuries, the niece of Golden State Warriors Head Coach Mark Jackson has superior athleticism that got her right back into the swing of things. She can put the ball on the & oor and shoot very well. O’Hagan men- tioned that she is very coachable, and foresees a spot on an All- ECC team more than once before her career is over.

Newcomer Alexia O’Connor (Centerport, N.Y.) hails from Har- bor! elds High School, and is the most versatile player on the team. She will see time all over the court, from point guard through the No. 4 spot. O’Hagan sees her as the best passer on the team. Sophomore Megan Lonergan (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) , a Queens College transfer at 6-foot-2, will be counted upon Senior Guard Ashley Addison to be a shot blocker for the Lions in 2012-13.
