First it expresses my love for Cornwall in that it’s made using good Cornish tin. Second it“ expresses my passion for Christ as it shows him as he’s depicted on one of our ancient Celtic Crosses. I carry them both close to my heart. Those two passions lie at the heart of ‘The Saints’ Way’, which is not so much a strategy for us as a diocese (though it is that) but more a way for us to walk in together that enables us to express those commitments in practical ways. It’ll be a central feature of our autumn roadshows. In particular it calls us to be: A Church that conspicuously celebrates children and young people at its heart A Church that unashamedly embraces an innovative pioneering culture A Church that is increasingly confident in its calling A Church that rejoices in strong, warm and mutually encouraging international links A Church that rejoices in the generosity of God I hope you can see how some of these connect directly with things highlighted here in this prayer diary. The people of Lebanon are Cornwall’s ancient trading partners and our plans to establish a link with them are all the more urgent in the wake of the terrible explosion in Beirut; ‘Transforming Mission’ gives us a wonderful opportunity to develop an innovate pioneering culture – and so on. Do join with me in making all five of these commitments a focus for our prayer together in this season. THE RT REVD PHILIP MOUNSTEPHEN” BISHOP OF TRURO 3 27 SEPTEMBER – 3 OCTOBER SUNDAY 27 SEPTEMBER ORDINATIONS As we approach the feast of Michaelmas (29 September), we celebrate the lives, vocations and ministries of all those being ordained in the Diocese of Truro over this weekend. I am directed by the Secretary of State to say that consideration has been given to the report of Paul Griffiths BSc(Hons) BArch IHBC, who made site visits on 17 November 2015 and 17 December 2015 into your client’s appeal against the decision of Cornwall Council to refuse planning permission for a single wind turbine of max. 77m to tip, along with associated infrastructure, including an access track, and electrical housing in accordance with application ref: PA14/06447, dated 9 July 2014. 2. • Diocesan Prayer Cycle 1St October - 31St December
Diocesan Prayer Cycle 1st October - 31st December What is a Diocese and how do we work together within it? At its simplest, a Diocese is a geographical area; a region; a collection of parishes, benefices, deaneries, archdeaconries. But it is more than that – it is a gathering of all our communities in mutual support for each other. And as the Diocese of Winchester, we each play our part in the growth of God’s Kingdom committed to our vision of ‘living the mission of Jesus’. This prayer diary helps us to get to know each other better, to find out what is happening across the area and to see how God is working and using us all in his mission across the region. The early church shared good news of what was happening across a wide area, as churches grew, and more people came to know Christ. In their commitment to love and care for one another, prayer lay at the heart of their lives. As we use this Prayer Diary, let’s seek to share that love and care for each other and to rejoice in what God is doing amongst us. This month... how might you pray for young people? For example, you might focus on school leavers, students, youth workers, community centres, young people in trouble... How might you be part of the answer to your prayers? For example, you might make a point of smiling at young people in the street; volunteer for a helpline; get involved with your local Further Education College; support parents you know whose young adult children are struggling..

  • Interim Newsletter – May
24th May 2016 Dear Parents/Carers, As we approach the half term break, I am pleased to be able to write to you to bring you up to date with all that has been happening at saltash.net since the start of the summer term. Exam season is, of course, well and truly upon us now, with years 10, 11 and 12 all taking some of their GCSE and A Level examinations before half term and Year 13 joining them from the start of June onwards. Although we hold ‘official last day’ events for both Years 11 and 13, all students sitting exams are still able to participate in and make the most of our extensive revision programme which will be running throughout the duration of the exams as well as over the half term holiday. We have all been so impressed with how our young people have approached their exams this summer, especially those students who have experienced major challenges and difficulties in their home or personal lives over the past year. We are full of admiration for them and also pleased that our school has such a strong pastoral support network in place to help guide and intervene when necessary. We wish all students sitting exams this year all the very best. As we regularly say to our students, academic success is very important but so too is how they are developing as well rounded individuals who appreciate and demonstrate the values at the heart of our school: Respect, Responsibility, Compassion, Honesty, Fairness and Perseverance. At the recent May Fair in Saltash, a number of members of our local community (including those who live close to our school) came up to tell me how impressed they were with the behaviour and conduct of our students – not just what they read about them in the local papers, but also when they see them around Saltash.
