Nordic and World and Bands 2022 August 14-19, Svendborg,

Call for tutors! Deadline April 1, 2021; please respond to [email protected]

Dear braiders and weavers !

Would you like to teach a workshop at the Braids 2022 conference to be held in Denmark in August 2022? Based on the success of previous conferences, we would like to highlight both Nordic techniques and their international counterparts.

Can you teach tablet weaving, loop manipulation, rigid heddle/inkle bands, braiding, fingerweaving, sprang, , whipcording, , nalbinding, lucet or straw-braiding?

We would also like to offer workshops in kumihimo techniques (round/square/octo plate and simple marudai, although we cannot provide large equipment), ply-split and others.

The conference lasts a week, from Sunday afternoon to Friday evening. We are planning for a group of max. 150 dedicated braiders. We would like to offer both introductory and advanced workshops as well as ½ day “taster sessions” to introduce various techniques. We will be applying for grants to help pay for expenses, which, along with participants’ fees, will provide payment for tutors and some travel expenses. As we progress in planning, we will be able to give information about what we hope to be able to offer in tutor’s fees. Planning is somewhat delayed due to the complications of the past year, and may entail a more modest budget, but we are confident we’ll be able to provide an exciting week for all.

Please consider if you would like to teach, preferably in English! Our participants are eager, skilled and more than ready to learn. Please respond with the following information:

1. Name

2. Technique (s)

3. Workshop length: 1 day or 2 day; max. no. of participants

4. “taster session”: ½ day; max. no. of participants

5. Previous teaching experience

6. Suggestions and comments

We look forward to hearing from you!

Katia Johansen
