‘Our nation shall be a place of safety for no blood will be shed on our account.’ SARAI

SYNOPSIS

SARAI HAS BEEN PROMISED that she will be the founder of a new nation whose sovereignty will be established upon an old land.

The production of our historical narrative pays homage to the courage and wisdom of this most extraordinary woman as we observe her contending with the formidable forces of famine, disease, persecution and civil war in order to realize her dream.

Immersed within a multidisciplinary theatricality, which juxtaposes the challenges faced by our protagonist in antiquity with the challenges of modernity, we aim to create with a team of award-winning artists a compelling psychological drama that also lifts the lid on our own secret ambitions.

6 SARAI INVESTMENT PROPOSAL

HISTORY OF THE PROJECT

‘The performance was excellent and the music was powerful.’ David Luff, Producer,

In 2014 we received the first phase of our funding from the Arts Council to commission the writing of our play Sarai and to research and develop a new theatrical style that would go on to impact the industry.

After a six-month writing schedule the company entered into a research and development process (R&D) that concluded with a one- off showcase performance of our new theatrical style called Theatre of the Soul.

Our showcase which was attended by audience of producers, directors, journalists, programmers, artists and ordinary members of the general public was very well received and positively critiqued as groundbreaking, epic and powerful.
