FMZ FMZ 3A Harvesting Excluded, FMZ 3B-Special Prescriptions (visual) and FMZ 4- General Management occur within the compartment and are shown on the HPOM. FMZ 3A – Harvesting and harvesting machinery are not permitted in these areas. PA must mark boundaries as shown on the HPOM. FMZ 3B (Visual) – A visual protection zone exists parallel to the Ben Boyd Road. The PA is not required to mark this boundary but must supervise implementation of the modified harvesting prescriptions which apply; see table 7. Research Any other inventory plots located during the harvesting operation which are not shown on the HPOM or described above are to be treated the same as the surrounding area. Cultural Heritage Surveys have been conducted. If any potential heritage sites are identified notify the planner immediately.

Please verify this is the latest version prior to use. The soil-borne pathogen has been detected in the vicinity of Compartment 646. As a precaution to limit the spread of Phytophthora, the following conditions must be implemented. • Trucks, Contractor and PA vehicles are to remain within the designated log dump locations and remain on licensed roads. • Excavator operator is to ensure that all loose dirt/plant material is bumped from the logs before loading onto truck. • If walking in the forest away from dumps and roads, you must brush loose dirt from boots and spray with a 50% metho/water mix from a spray bottle before leaving the dump or compartments daily. • The PA is to complete a visual risk assessment during mark-up to determine phytophthora sites which are to be recorded in the FC Map App. The PA will liaise with the contractor to harvest affected sites last. • All contractor machinery is to be thoroughly washed down to remove all dirt/mud after the completion of the operation and before being floated from the compartments – PA to supervise.

Forest Permits 8 apiary ranges are Bee Permit holders must be contacted by the PA at least occupied. two weeks prior to use of any log dumps that are occupied by bee hives.

6. Infrastructure Infrastructure Conditions

Utilities Underground Telecommunication cable owned by Telstra runs adjacent to Extension 2 Trail and is shown on the HPOM (Cpt 632). Its location has been verified and is marked in the field with blue paint and Telstra cable markers. The PA must check the field markers to ensure they are adequate and if required hang additional flagging tape to show location. When snigging or forwarding over the cable is required the crew must select a suitable crossing point prior to commencing the activity and avoid ground disturbance in this area. The crew must report all damage to underground utilities immediately.

Modified Shelter- Wildfire events occurred in compartments 632, 638 and 646 in 1951 and 1982 wood (MSW) (Cpt 632). These compartments were harvested in alternate coupes in 1985, 1988, 1989, 2003 and 2005. Hazard reduction burns were conducted in 1997,

1999, and 2007.

Harvest Area The areas identified for harvest are mature to over mature and have not previously been harvested. These stands are dominated by Yellow and Blueleaved Stringybark and Silvertop Ash, with a substantial component of Mature (Even aged/ Grey Ironbark and Woollybutt in Cpt 638. Part of coupe 97 of Cpt 632 was mixed age forest): thinned in 2005. There are areas within the Net Harvest Area on the HPOM in 83% Cpts 638 & 646 identified as regrowth. These areas are intended to improve access and operability and are too immature to be considered for thinning.

The objective is to harvest all commercially available trees to create canopy Immature regrowth: openings and ensure mechanical disturbance creates a suitable seed bed for 17% regeneration of the stands.

Crew to target sawlogs, pulpwood and other miscellaneous products such as firewood as markets allow. PA to instruct crew to retain patches (>0.5ha) of quality advanced regeneration where they occur. Crew to remove all merchantable stems not marked for retention. The crew is responsible for protecting retained seed trees and retaining patches of advanced regeneration.

FMZ 3B – Cpt 646 100% Integrated (modified shelterwood) with 50% canopy retention. Target Area adjacent to sawlogs for removal. Larger diameter trees (i.e. Habitat trees) or the most junction of Ben Boyd visually pleasant trees that are within the largest 30% diameter class of the stand Road and Leos Creek should be retained. Tree selection should be evenly spread over the FMZ 3B Road area. (5% of net harvest area)
