Air BnB’s in Sully Station II Recently, there have been some questions and/or complaints regarding Air BnB’s in Sully Station II. For any residents considering running an Air BnB in the Community; Please be aware that the Sully Station II Governing Documents have rules regarding leasing your unit. 8 Best Guides to Avoid Getting Your Packages Stolen during Holiday TIPS PROVIDED BY OLIVIA

Tired of having your UPS package stolen or lost from your front door or porch? Tired of tedious and lengthy recovering your missing FedEx package? Tired of dealing with endless and fruitless USPS delivery complaints?

You are not alone. According to package theft statistics, each year more than 23 million Americans (shocking!!!) have their packages stolen. More than 4000 customers filed complaints against shipping companies according to Consumer Affairs. With holiday looming, package thieves are on the move. How can you avoid all kinds of package troubles while you are away enjoying your holiday?

Fortunately, there are AMAZING TIPS to make sure your packages stay out of the grasp of pilferers, especially during holiday season. 1. Use Smart Package Lockers or Convenience Store

Amazon now allows you to pick up your delivery in Amazon Locker with a unique code, which you can punch into the machine to retrieve your package in selected locations across the country. When putting down shipping address during the checkout process, you can find out whether the Amazon locker is available in your region or not.

If so, the Amazon locker will be the safest and convenient place to secure your Amazon package.

If your community doesn’t have an Amazon Locker, and you are a frequent online shopper, use The UPS Store, check the availability of lockers in nearby convenience stores, Kiosks or buy your own digital locker. If you are financially strained for the moment, sharing locker with your neighbors or friends will help slash the cost and boost up your package safety.

2. Have Packages Delivered to Your Workplace

There are a lot of complaints about package thieves or bad neighbors sneaking around the street and looting drop-off deliveries, or irresponsible mailman or carriers leaving packages on the front door without knocking or ringing the door, or pre-signing your delivery without your consent or delaying home delivery by sending notifications too early.

Don’t be, having your package delivered to your office will reduce the risk of package theft or package loss significantly (given that your company allows that and there are coworkers available in the office to retrieve your package). 3. Require Signature on Delivery

Many customers grumble about delivery man signing the unauthorized packages and leaving them wide open on the porch or doorstep, making them desirable for package snatcher.

The solution to the problem is asking for signature delivery. If your package is delivered by UPS, consult your sender and require delivery confirmation signature. Signature-required delivery should be strictly followed by couriers. If your package was left unattended, or even worse, lost, because they didn’t follow the protocol, delivery companies are liable to legal actions and you are entitled to a full refund or replacement if you didn’t get a proof of delivery when you demand delivery by signature.

5. Reroute or Reschedule Delivery

If you are not sure whether or not you are home from holiday to receive your package when the delivery truck pulls up to your front door. You can track shipment information either on app or order information in advance. Both UPS and FedEx offer web apps to help reroute parcel to another address and reschedule your package delivery at your convenience for a fee.

If you are using other delivery services, online shipment tracking information will be available. Notifying the driver in advance online when your package is due is reassuring.

6. Require Vacation Package Hold

Finally going away for holiday, you can place a hold on your package to keep your parcel safe.

Many delivery companies such as USPS and FedEx offer a free service to uphold your package at their terminals or delivery centers for a period of time. To check FedEx delivery options for free online and free USPS mail holding service here to apply for a package holiday hold online without worrying about lost package or package being stolen off the doorstep. 7. Insure Your Upcoming Packages

I bet you don’t want to go through all the troubles to get your missing package back after an amazing holiday.

So insuring your precious holiday parcel, for example, Halloween costume, Thanksgiving gifts or Christmas packages in the first place will guarantee you reimbursement if unfortunately your delivery was stolen or lost before you lay your hand on it. https://reolink.com/how-to-prevent-package-from-being-stolen-during-holiday/

Dear Neighbors and Friends,

Cub Run Stream Valley Park is the third largest park in Fairfax County, but until recently, has not had a formal group dedicated to supporting it. This park, a hidden gem in Centreville, is used by many people as a place to exercise and enjoy nature. Sadly, there’s a lot of trash in the park, especially when you wander off the main trail. Some of it has been dumped there intentionally, but most of it has not. The storm drains in the surrounding neighborhoods empty directly into the park and into Cub Run Stream, which is part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Along with rain water, an enormous amount of is carried into the park through the storm drain outlets. In order to combat this problem, residents from nearby communities have teamed up to create a volunteer group to support the Cub Run Stream Valley Park. We have already coordinated 6 park clean-up events in the past year and have removed 98 of trash, 12 tires, a desk, a couch, a computer monitor, and 4 bikes.

The mission of our group is threefold: preserve, share, connect. We plan to reduce park litter through organizing biannual clean-up events, share photos and video via Facebook of the natural, historic, and cultural aspects of the park, and finally to connect nature and with other neighbors resulting in a more resilient community. The long-term goal is the creation of self-organizing teams in each neighborhood to focus on the area of the park adjacent to each community. We are actively recruiting Site Leaders to assist us with this effort. Page 11 Sully II Times

Site Leaders have been identified for London Towne and Second London Towne, but volunteers are still needed for:

 Virginia Run  Sully Station II CA  Cub Run Recreational/Lee Overlook/Madison Ridge Apts  Pleasant Valley  Country Club Manor  Chalet Woods  Gate Post I/II  Newgate (feeds into Cub Run) In order to connect with each other and share ideas, we will meet quarterly. Everyone interested in supporting Cub Run Park is welcome to attend. You can also check out our Cub Run Stream Valley Park Volunteer Team Facebook page to get more details, share your photos, and stay connected. If you are interested in becoming a Site Lead or have any questions, please email [email protected]. We are just getting started so come join us, make an impact, and meet some great people! Also, we are trying to gain metrics for our organization to better understand how much others use the park, are aware of the litter problem, and if there is any desire to do more. Please take 2 minutes out of your day to help us out.

As winter ends, and the thaw begins you will find yourself with what we call “Yard Waste” in the form of or- ganic matter cluttering your yard; do you know the best way to dispose of your Yard Debris to keep your lawn and the environment green?

Whether its lawn clippings or a barrage of unsightly leaves seemingly dumped onto your lawn; some of us wonder the best way to collect and prepare them for fast, easy and green pickup.

Many people do not realize that yard debris collection is actually considered to be a form of . This can be somewhat confusing as yard debris is not picked up with your Single Stream recyclables.

Instead, brush, branches, grass clippings and tree limbs are broken down organically by a bio-chemical reaction known as composting. Once collected and taken to a special facility, over time, these materials become a new product called compost.

Although we may not think of it in the literal term, composting is still, very much, a form of recycling. In fact, it is possibly the most organic form of recycling, since all material is returned directly to the earth through vari- ous applications to aid in new growth.

But how can you assure that the unsightly organic clutter on your lawn is properly disposed of to ensure it helps the growth of new leaves and blossoms in the spring?!

The first step is to ensure the correct preparation of your Yard Waste for pick- up. Defining 'Debris'

First, let's define the FULL list of all accepted yard debris items accepted at your curb.

 Leaves  Grass clippings

 Tree limbs and brush (bundled and tied) Avoid Late Payments!!!

 Christmas Trees The Automatic Debit Payment (ACH) program  Pumpkins will debit your account the same day every month and adjust the fee each year automatically. By Proper Preparation for Pick-Up using the ACH program you will never have to worry about paying on time and will not be late in Loose in a payments. Best of all – its free of charge, no The most preferred method of collecting your yard clippings, leaves, and coupons and no postage to deal with! small branches is loose in a container(s) that can be lifted and dumped into our truck. Yard debris that is collected in plastic bags must be broken open If you would like more information on ACH before the composting process can begin, and for that reason, we recommend payment program please go to Sully2.com that you simply collect it in a "yard debris" labeled reusable container. (Did website, or contact our FSR Community we mention that you'll be saving on all of those yard debris collection bags by Management Staff at 703-266-2020, for more investing in a few sturdy compost collection ?) details. Sully II Times Page 14 Compostable Plastic Bags In certain locations, another accepted method of collection is the use of plastic bags that are certified com- postable. These can be purchased at most home improvement stores.

Brown Collection Bags Similar to a compostable plastic , a brown paper collection bag, which can also be bought at a local home improvement store, will break down organically with the collected yard debris. Bundling Methods In order for us to collect all of the homes on any given route, tree limbs and brush must be no longer than 4 feet in length and 3 inches thick in diameter. These items must be tied with rope or twine so that one man may easily pick-up. American Disposal

Services will collect a maximum of 10 bags of grass clippings and or leaves, and 10 bundles of brush per pick- up. (There will be an extra charge for additional removal of larger amounts of yard debris that must be sched- uled in advance through our customer service center.)

Try Grasscycling! Grasscycling is the "green" way to keep your lawn beautiful and healthy, and entails leaving the grassclippings ON your lawn after you mow, instead of bagging them.

When clippings stay on the lawn they release important nutrients into the soil, act as mulch and pro- mote natural aeration by earthworms. Clippings decompose and feed the soil the nutrients it needs.

Grasscycling and leaving the clippings on the ground also slows waterloss and reduces the needs for fertiliza- tion.

Just remember to cut the grass only when it’s dry and to always check to make sure your mower blades are sharp before you start you implement this technique. Things to Remember

Items that are either bagged OR bundled should not exceed 50 lbs.

Bundles should not exceed arm length. If you cannot wrap your arms around the bundle limbs, break it down into multiple bundles.

The following items are not acceptable for yard debris collection: mulch, dirt, rock, shrubs, trees, tree stumps, and sod Kiddie Corner Who’s Who In Assistant Manager Community Center, 5501 Sully Park Dr on Sully II Luigi Solloso the 4th Thursday of the month.
