  • Ōmcare Partners with Ecumen and Thrifty White Pharmacy to Launch Pilot Program Using Ōmcare® Telemed System to Improve Medication Adherence for Older Adults
NEWS RELEASE (For immediate release) Ōmcare partners with Ecumen and Thrifty White Pharmacy to launch pilot program using Ōmcare® Telemed System to improve medication adherence for older adults Ōmcare’s web-enabled, audiovisual medication dispensing telemedicine system ensures right medication, right person, right time BURNSVILLE, MN (October 31, 2019) – Ōmcare, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Anser Innovation, announced today that it will partner with Ecumen, a leading provider of housing and care resources for older adults, and Thrifty White Pharmacy, a Midwest-based pharmacy chain of retail, long-term care, and telepharmacy locations, to evaluate the ability of the Ōmcare® Telemed System to improve medication adherence, reduce costs, and assist caregivers. According to Lisa Lavin, founder and CEO of Ōmcare, the pilot will launch in early 2020 at select Ecumen assisted living communities in Minnesota. As part of the pilot, residents who currently receive door-delivered medication assistance will instead receive medication assistance from their caregivers via the Ōmcare Telemed System. The two-way, interactive Ōmcare video and medication dispensing system will be preloaded with pouched multi-dose medications from Thrifty White Pharmacy, per each individual’s prescription drug regimen. The Ōmcare Telemed System gives caregivers of all types – physicians, pharmacists, care providers or family members – the ability to see and speak to those who need assistance with medication adherence and to confirm right pill, right time, right person. The easy-to-use Ōmcare system is designed to facilitate remote monitoring via visual confirmation of a patient’s actions, which supports telehealth and virtual care services and gives family members greater peace of mind.

Thrifty White Pharmacy ® selected to administer future COVID-19 vaccines. With the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the COVID-19 vaccines on the horizon, Thrifty White Pharmacy announces that it will be part of the public vaccination solution. As part of the first initial wave of available vaccine, and in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Thrifty White pharmacists will be able to provide safe, convenient access to COVID-19 vaccines to help our most vulnerable elderly patients located in the long term care facilities we serve in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. "Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been Thrifty White’S first priority to be there for our communities to provide the medications and supplies, along with the care and counseling our patients need," said Bob Narveson, president/CEO of Thrifty White Pharmacy. Narveson added, "Similarly, when vaccines are authorized and made available to the general public, Thrifty White pharmacists will be able to administer them following federal vaccine prioritization guidelines. Given our pharmacies already have systems to track our customers and medication adherence, we have built-in capabilities to track vaccine uptake just like we do a health insurance claim. This is key given Pfizer’S and Moderna’S vaccines require two dosages weeks apart and customers may need to be reminded to come back for their second vaccination. We are proud of and thankful for the efforts of our pharmacists and pharmacy support personnel. They are 100% committed to supporting our communities on the front lines and are helping to provide over 50,000 other immunizations yearly such as Influenza, Zoster Shingles, Pneumococcal, Hepatitis B, Human Papillomavirus, Meningococcal, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), TDAP (Tetanus-Diptheria-Pertussis), and Hepatitis A.

  • All Chronic Prescriptions Filled on the Same Day. 28 Thrifty White
Fully owned by 1300 employees, Thrifty White Pharmacy’s center of competitive commitment remains the rural Midwest, with 90+ locations in Minnesota, North Dakota, Iowa, Montana and Wisconsin. 28 of these stores located in 22 cities in North Dakota will provide all pharmacy and MTM services for this project. Medication Therapy Management MTM allows patients to connect with their Thrifty White Pharmacist who is specially trained to work collaboratively between patients and doctors to evaluate how well medications are working, how to take medications in the most safe and effective way, and how to minimize side effects. During a comprehensive medication review, patients meet face-to-face with the Pharmacist, the medication expert, and review prescriptions, vitamins, herbals, supplements and other over-the-counter medications. The pharmacist identifies any duplications or conflicts, potential cost saving opportunities and insures the patient takes their medication correctly. Need more information? Ask your Thrifty White Pharmacist to describe the Comprehensive Medication Review or call our Patient Care Center at 1.888.558.9941 for more information. Thrifty White also offers the convenience of Medication Synchronization (med synch) – Synchronized Prescription Refill Service: • A convenient, new way to have all chronic prescriptions filled on the same day. Thrifty White contacts patients three times per month prior to filling meds to verify changes and updates and possible clinician visits. • The patient is called when prescriptions are ready for pickup. • No need to call in prescription refills and fewer trips to the pharmacy. • No worries about running out of medication and records changes to treatment. • Depending on the drug class, patients enrolled in the program had 3.4 to 6.1 times greater odds of adherence as controls.
