2021 Stallions Clearly Now Custom For Carlos Half Ours Imperial Hint Peppered Cat Star Guitar enerally at this time of year we are planning our annual Stallion GPresentation. However, this year is going to be plenty different than in the past. This change is absolutely necessary and is a direct result of the Pandemic we are currently experiencing. Therefore, we have elected to try what others have proposed and instituted to meet these challenges universally with a “Virtual Presentation”, where we present the farm, the stallions, their progeny, including their race records and racing videos. This is an endeavor that my daughter, Farm Manager, Michelle LaVoice has elected to take on with the help of many. The general idea is to bring to our friends, clients, and the breeders in Louisiana and beyond, all that we have to offer in terms of the farm, facilities, and our staff. We are all dedicated to the well being and productivity of the many horses for which we care. Clear Creek Stud is a full service facility including breeding, foal - ing, sales-prep, breaking and training. We do our very best to accommo - date owners and trainers, via attending to whatever their horses require or need. The pandemic has dealt our industry an incredibly harsh blow not only from the virus itself but from the multitude of effects brought about by added rules and regulations, etc., and if COVID wasn’t enough, Southwest Louisiana had the additional insult of two hurricanes, Laura and Zeta that devastated Delta Downs. Thus, racing has been limited to a large degree over this time, and there is certainly less to talk about regard - ing recent racing than usual, simply because of a lack of racing. The great - est insult of course was to Casinos and slots that are so important to rac - ing via purses. These have improved with the state Government allowing a certain percentage of capacity back into casinos, and racing in Louisiana is coming back as well albeit fanless. With both the Fairgrounds and Delta Downs recently opening meets, we are hopeful all of these things contin - ue to improve. I expect they will, especially with the promise of vaccines being available relatively soon, which will certainly help insure a more promising future. We will get past this incredible challenge and we are certainly excited to welcome in 2021 and to have 2020 done and in the review mirror. The Virtual Stallion Presentation that you will be viewing is brought to you by, Fire On The Bayou recording, a New Orleans production company. This visual experience, which I’m told is the future, will give you insights into the farm and recent progeny. For now, I will miss the lunch and time usually spent talking one on one with our friends and peers, all with com - mon interests. At present, we are pleased to share this 2020 Virtual Stallion Presentation that can be found at www.clearcreekstud.com . A new breeding and foaling season comes with lots of planning and hard work and is wel - comed with keen anticipation and excite - ment. As always, Clear Creek Stud, LLC offers at no charge, nicking sys - tems that have garnered worldwide recognition and support: Enicks, True Nicks and G1 Goldmine Stallion Watch. These tools are often greatly ben - eficial in helping prospective breeders choose their ideal stallion match. We are proud of our strong Stallion Roster for 2021 and confident that you will find a match to serve your purpose. We go through great lengths to offer stallions that will be suitable to your particular needs as a breeder, whether your program is directed toward the commercial market or pro - ducing runners capable of competing on a national level. We are fortunate to stand an elite group of stallions with pedigrees and conformation that make them desirable not only in this region, but nationally as well. This year we are adding a new stallion, ImperIal HInt to the roster who may not need an introduction. Imperial Hint, a four time Grade 1 winner of over $2 million, with 7 total Graded wins and 107+ kind of speed, is cer - tainly an exciting addition and should fit quite well in our lucrative Louisiana program. This year and every year, the horse industry continues to be incredibly important to the Louisiana economy. I would suggest that you make every effort to communicate to our State Legislators, especially the newly elected ones, how our industry contributes to the economic well being of our state, particularly through the creation of numerous jobs. We appreci - ate their past efforts and support, and we look forward to working with them in the coming year to keep the horse industry healthy throughout the state. Clear Creek is a family owned and operated business. Michelle Murrell LaVoice, the Farm Manager, a seasoned professional, along with Assistant Farm Manager April Savoy and their dedicated and skilled support staff, will continue to provide the attention to detail in every aspect of the daily routine, making sure that the usual is accomplished unusually well. Trey LaVoice, our Maintenance Manager, and the office staff including Lisa Hobbs with the assistance of Sally Blackwell, Laura Kenny, and Brandy Schillesci, remain at your service to ensure any questions you might have are answered and that you have any information or help with business matters that arise over the course of time. For now we want to thank you for considering Clear Creek Stallions in your breeding plans and hope you enjoy the video Presentation. Please call if you should have any further questions, or better yet stop in for a visit.

Certainly we’re all in this together Inviting our peers with farms from surrounding states to embrace the new Louisiana by-laws and raise their own Louisiana Breds! Louisiana’s New Non-Resident Mare Rule Offers More Opportunities

the louisiana Breeders association has recently modified the by-laws allowing for a new “non- resident mare” to be eligible to have accredited louisiana bred foals. the non-resident section of the by-law reads: (b) Non-Resident Mare is a broodmare that arrives in Louisiana in foal and after foaling must be covered by a Louisiana domiciled stallion in that foaling year, and pregnant or not, must remain in Louisiana for a period of ninety (90) days after foaling or until August 1 of the foaling year, whichever is earlier.

With this by-law change, breeders may be able to be a sig - nificant part of the louisiana Breeders program and be rewarded accordingly. Over the years Clear Creek Stud has become known as Louisiana's premier Thoroughbred operation. In 1977, Val Murrell, upon graduating from LSU, joined Lohman as his assistant. Soon after, Murrell assumed management duties and maintained that position through several ownership changes at Clear Creek Stud including the partnership of Jack Lohman and C.T. Carden and continuing when C.T. Carden bought Lohman's ownership in the farm. Eventually Val and some partners bought Clear Creek Stud from the Estate of C.T. Carden. Val has made Clear Creek Stud his life's work and carries the tradition of excellence established by its founder.

ike many of you, I grew up in a L4-H Program. I learned plenty and have a tremendous appreciation of those times with 4-H leaders guiding and supporting young people. Many parents took the time to help many children, besides their own, and the young people them - selves helped one another while at the same time competing. lot of that seems to have dwindled Aover time and we currently have a group headed by Neely Walker work - ing to rekindle this fire. They are striv - ing to rebuild the Louisiana 4-H Program to once again have a signifi - cant impact on our next generation of horseman and citizens who will mature and continue the process over and over again, to keep the flames burning. lease join forces and contact these Pleaders [[email protected]] to see what you might do to advance the cause. I consider it a most impor - tant and noble endeavor that we should all be very proud of supporting.
