Graduation rates for 2008, for example, at all three public schools were between 86 percent and 93 per- cent — well above Indiana’s five-year rate of 77 percent. Justin We always take great pleasure hear- ing about the successes of the county’s Peeper schools, and such was the case last week at Bluffton High School, where a little nostalgia also emerged. BHS has always had a strong journalism program for a school of its size, but it took a big step to become even more noteworthy last week. The school’s student newspaper, The Comet, has had a presence on the Web, as staffers have uploaded the content to the school district’s Web site for anyone to read. But last week the student journalists took another big step by creating a Blog, or a Web site that features an online personal journal with comments the student jour- nalists will post. You can access the new blog directly by visiting our Web site [www.news-banner.com] and clicking on the “BHS Bloggers” button. The young journalists plan to post color photos, videos and other breaking news items to complement the print publication. The blog, which features the crimson and black school colors, will not replace The Comet but in- stead will expand and enhance the print product because of the added flexibility. Additionally, it will contain How Obama can win on health care information about the high school’s daily happenings, WASHINGTON -- President Obama can still the issues that matter are the high cost of athletic events and social opportunities. secure major health care legislation this year if insurance, their fears of losing coverage if It’s only been a week since editor Katie Mettler put the he learns from his mistakes in recent months and they have pre-existing conditions, and the Blog online after receiving some help from The News- spends more time reminding Americans why they fact that policies often fail to cover necessary were once eager for fundamental change. procedures and sometimes cut off benefits.
