The all new GLS (Grip Locking System) APPAREL is no exception. The GLS is a unique retention system in which the middle finger is used to the release the weapon. As with the popular ALS® holster line, a proper shooting grip will place the drawing hand in the exact location to release the retention system. The middle finger sits directly on the GLS lever. During the draw the lever is depressed allowing for a straight up draw out of the holster. No additional motion or action is required. The GLS holster line offers a lower profile and compact design, perfect for concealability. The low cut sides allow for a rapid draw and easy re-holstering. This material is impervious to moisture, bloodborne pathogens, and does not break down like natural materials, making for an extremely durable and long-term professional looking product. SAFARILAND FINISHES GUIDE Traditional Leather Look Finish Traditional leather has been the mainstay of the law enforcement community for decades. With the SafariLaminate process we offer an extremely durable leather look that offers easy care and maintenance for years of use. Offered in Plain, Basketweave and Hi Gloss. STX Tactical® Finish This is a special tactical “haircell” finish exclusive to Safariland. This textured finish helps to reduce wear-and-tear scratches on the product. It is famous for its incredible strength, abrasion resistance and protective qualities. It is heat-laminated and molded to the exact shape of weapons and accessories for better security. It will not absorb water or sweat, dries quickly, and is easily cleaned with mild soap and water or Armor All®. A thin layer of suede in the liner protects the finish of guns and absorbs excess oils or lubricants. STX Finishes We’ve expanded our popular STX Tactical® finish to include Plain, Hi Gloss and Basketweave finish. This hard-shell STX material is heat-laminated and molded to the exact shape of weapons and accessories, and it’s extremely durable. It’s the only product available that addresses seat belt abrasion issues. That’s why Safariland created the Retention Level system as a guide to holster selection. The holsters in this catalog are classified by their Retention Levels to help you choose the right holster for your needs. In the interest of safety for police officers, Safariland introduced the Retention Level COMMUNICATIONS System in 1985, providing useful holster selection information to the marketplace. This system helped officers evaluate and make informed decisions on the type of holster needed for different scenarios and environments. Safariland set this initial standard, and to this day is the only holster manufacturer with established, strict testing criteria to evaluate the Retention Level of a duty holster. • Vogel Overtakes Miguez for Area 5 Limited Title SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash
June 16, 2010 Vogel Overtakes Miguez for Area 5 Limited Title SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. - Robert Vogel of Wapakoneta, Ohio, won his second U.S. Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) regional championship of the year this past weekend with a come-from-behind win in the Limited division at the USPSA Canyon Creek Area 5 Regional Handgun Championship. This is the fourth year in a row that Vogel has won a title at the Area 5 Championship. He won back-to-back Limited-10 division titles in 2009 and 2008, as well as the Production division title in 2007. Winning only two of the 12 stages, and competing with a Glock model 24 which gives up two rounds per magazine to his competitors, Vogel battled from behind to overtake the match leader, and 2009 winner, Blake Miguez of New Iberia, La., on the final stage of the match. Miguez, who is one of the top Limited division shooters in the country and currently featured on the History Channel's show Top Shot, won four stages early in the match and held the lead on 10 of 12 stages. Going into the final stage of the match, Miguez held a 7.6605 point lead but fell to second place, giving back nearly 30 points to Vogel on the last stage. Vogel ended the match with a final score of 1427.7224 points, to Miguez's 1411.3962. "Bob is quickly proving to be one of the most versatile shooters in USPSA. Whether it's in the Production division, Limited-10 or Limited, Bob continues to collect titles with a duty-style pistol typically used in law enforcement," said Michael Voigt, president of USPSA.
