2 From the College Principal/CEO

The Head of Primary School is a pivotal role at Moriah College. Working closely with the Director of and the Head of Middle School in particular, this position is responsible for ensuring that each student’s educational journey is continuous and establishing the balance between the Jewish and secular educational life of our students.

Moriah College is proud of its outstanding results achieved by generations of Higher School Certificate students. These results are achieved not simply through excellent teaching in the final two years of schooling but by significant contributions made all along the way by each sector of our College during fifteen years of belonging to the Moriah Family.

Our Primary School has an enviable reputation in the community for the high standard of education and life experiences provided to its students during the crucial years from Transition to Year 5.

Balancing the demands of the curriculum set by the NSW Board of Studies and the Jewish Studies curriculum, including Ivrit, requires a leader with great skill and provides enormous opportunities for innovative curriculum design.

In these formative years it is essential that children do not compartmentalise their learning into Jewish and secular. Our children benefit from the rich learning environment and increased opportunities for individual growth that are presented by accessing an education in a premier – Moriah College.

The Head of Primary is the key member of the College Executive who can ensure that this happens. Our Primary School has been in excellent hands – led and managed for more than twenty-five years in such a way that Moriah College has grown, flourished and developed to its present position in the community.

3 From the College Principal/CEO (Continued)

We currently have many students whose parents attended Moriah College and we have recently enrolled the grandchildren of our alumni. We are indeed a generational College and immensely proud of this aspect.

I am excited by the opportunity of working with the Head of Primary School as we perpetuate the fine traditions of the College, continue to grow its reputation and lead the College into a sustainable future. This will occur in the context of a developing Australian Curriculum and a whole of College approach to planning and delivery of high quality Jewish and secular educational programs that recognise individual needs and enable every child to achieve success.

Please consider joining me and the rest of our dedicated staff in working together to build on the past and create the future for the Moriah Family.

Kimble J Fillingham College Principal/CEO
