108 endorsements charity Where Wishes Do Come True

ake-A-Wish® grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Malaysia became the 35th affiliate of this international foundation, with the setting up of Make-A-Wish® Malaysia in 2010. This year, 2013, Make-A-Wish® Malaysia aims to grant more than 60 wishes for such children. Make-A-Wish® Malaysia’s board has Her Royal Highness YAM Tengku Puteri Nor Zehan Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj as Patron and Datin Syarifah Farah Gumash binti Syed Hussain as Chairperson. In Malaysia, the first two wishes granted were for a 4-year-old boy who wanted to be a rocket launcher and launch a rocket, and an 11-year-old girl who wanted to be a flight stewardess. The 11-year old who truly admired the flight crew for their beauty and elegance got her wish fulfilled thanks to Malaysia Airlines who not only tailor-made a pint-size uniform for her but also put her through a mini training programme, from making of on-air announcements to demonstrating safety guidelines, learnt to serve meals and grooming and etiquette guidelines. As for the 4-year-old, who wanted to be a rocket launcher, the National Planetarium played host for the whole event, with none other than Malaysia’s first angkasawan, Datuk Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor in attendance. Chairperson of Make-A-Wish® Malaysia Datin Farah Hussain said, “A wish experience is a dream come true and is a source of hope and inspiration for children undergoing difficult medical treatments. This is something positive for the children to look forward to and their families also. We would hope the wish would strengthen them and help them in their fight against their illness and instill them with hope. It really is a time of magic and joy for these special children and for all involved in making the wish come true.”

112 partner sponsor Matching Colours, Hatching Possibilities

ombination is the name of the game, and therein lies the thrill of creating. Think how convenient it would be for a company to use combinations and colours to strengthen its brand. If the logo is yellow, KIAN can match chairs, table tops and bases to echo and emphasise the company’s main colour – a single image, instead of haphazard colour choices. It’s easy. Take table bases, for example. The Plus base has a double colour that can blend in with the colour theme of the rest of the furniture. The Cola base, with a more flamboyant design of flower petals, offers the same liberty: colour choices for the petals and the post. See the many possibilities that await a chair. The same shell can adorn the office cubicle, the canteen, the conference room, the reception area, and pretty much anywhere else where chairs are needed. The only difference is what holds up the shell, and KIAN offers different bases for that: side chair, side barstool, single shaft, beech wood legs, and castors base. How dull the world would be without colours. Refreshing greens, staid blues, joyful yellows – every hue has the power to affect us. What mood would you like your furniture to create? Kian is a total furniture solutions provider catering to the commercial and residential sectors since 1983.
