Traditional Seafood Market Kedonganan (5km, 12minutes ride) Widely known as Jimbaran Fish Market, the market that locals call Pasar Ikan Tradisional Kedonganan (Kedonganan Traditional Fish Market), is an essential Balinese experience. Every morning, brightly colored traditional fishing boats—and larger commercial vessels—unload an impressive catch. Locals will grill your purchases for a small fee. You may eat on the grilling station.

REMINDER : Jimbaran Fish Market is a must-do for foodies and market fans. As you’d expect of a fish market in the developing world, Kedonganan is a smelly place— exercise caution if you’re sensitive to smell or bringing small children. Especially late in the day, catch on display can be far from fresh. Purchase fish with bright eyes, shiny skin, firm flesh, and red gills. Or opt for squid or (farmed) shrimp, which are generally safe bets. We recommend to go to the market anytime between 6am till noon.

When to Get There: For the best and most authentic experience, visit Jimbaran Fish Market around dawn on a working day. You will see locals unloading their catch, have a chance at the best fish, and might even be able to buy a tasty grouper, red snapper, or parrotfish fresh from the boat. If you’re visiting later in the day, shrimp and squid may be a better choice than not-so-fresh fish. Generally, your chances of clear weather for a fish feast are highest during the dry season, roughly May to October.

This is how you do it ➢ Purchase your fresh seafood at the fish market ➢ Walked outside of the fish market hall and found a local restaurant to cook up your seafood feast. ➢ Watched them marinate it before pushing it into a caged holder, and then place it over a flaming barbeque. ➢ The smoke charred the fish, leaving it a little blackened on the outside but moist in the middle.

16.WATER BLOW NUSADUA (9km, 16minutes ride) The Water Blow site in Nusa Dua lets you see large waves from the Indian Ocean constantly crashing against jagged limestone edges. It’s located in the southern peninsula of Bali, and has a wooden observation deck built with benches where you can take a seat and wait for each wave. The site is marked by a stone arch that reads “Water Blow” and a slab with inscriptions like “Strong Currents”, “Sudden Drop Off”, “Dangerous Shorebreak”, “Slippery Rocks”, “High Surf” and “Sharp Coral”. Once you reach the observation deck, you can enjoy the sweeping views of the Water Blow site.

The best time to see the surge of water (sometimes reaching up to 30 metres high) is in July or August, when the tide is high. Note that the large surges can be dangerous, and there are no lifeguards around.

While it makes for a pleasant spot for photography, be sure to protect your camera gear from the unpredictable splashes and sprays. The chances of getting completely drenched at the Water Blow site are very high. Visiting the Water Blow site in Nusa Dua is free of charge.
