Saint Francis University Red Flash 2006-07 NEC Finish: T-9th, 4-14 Saint Francis University Red Flash Season Preview 2006-07 Overall Record: 7-22 2006-07 NEC Record/Finish: 4-14/T-9th 2006-07 NEC Tournament Result: DNQ The Red Flash have suffered two sub-par seasons following their amazing run of four consecutive NEC titles, but new head coach Susan Robinson Fruchtl hopes to change that. One area that must be improved for the program to move forward is defense. The Red Flash were the NEC’s last-ranked team in scoring defense (74.7 ppg) and were ninth in opponents’ field-goal percentage (44.7). Fruchtl has three returning starters to help begin the rebuilding process. Junior guard Shawna Scott (Baltimore, MD/Milford Mill Academy) returns 9.4 points per game and 105 assists at the point guard position. Up front, the team’s leading rebounder Beth Halter (5.9 rpg) is gone, but 6-4 sophomore center Janie Killian (Verona, PA/ Penn Hills) has size and a year’s experience under her belt, while junior forward Kanisha Garrett (Gaithersburg, MD/Desert Vista (Arizona)) averaged 7.1 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per outing.
