Known as the Learning and Games Initiative, the interdisciplin- ary program focuses on teaching students the effectiveness of us- ing games as teaching and learning tools in the classroom, according to Jon Pearce, computer science de- partment chair and professor. “There’s a lot of companies out there that are interested in turning jobs into games in order to train em- ployees,” he said, adding that video games can be used as more than vessels for entertainment and have some practical value.
