Tonight, we depart for an overnight flight to Malta. Dinner and breakfast will be served on the flight. Land and Air March 12, DAY 2 – MALTA – “The most famous shipwreck in the history $3695.00 of Christianity” We arrive in Malta and are greeted by our guide in the Arrivals Hall. (D) March 13, DAY 3 – MALTA – – RABAT Single Supplement After breakfast, we have a full day excursion to Mdina and Rabat. The first stop will be a visit of the site of St. Paul’s shipwreck. Our tour will take you from the point of the shipwreck, $695.00 along the route said to be taken by St. Paul where he preached, where he baptized the first Maltese at San Pawl Milqi Chapel (meaning “St. Paul welcomed”), to the place where Deposit due by November 9, 2018 he rested. Concluding our sightseeing on the western shore, we view the spectacular Cliffs before turning toward our return route. The last stop of the day will be the Catacombs of St. Paul, a fascinating labyrinth of the 3rd century subterranean tombs and the earliest archaeological evidence of Christianity in Malta. We celebrate Mass. Return to our hotel for an overnight and dinner. (B, D)

March 14, DAY 4 – MALTA – VALETTA This morning, inspect the tombs at St. John’s Co-Cathedral as we tour the capital of Malta, Valetta, and become acquainted with the fascinating history of this island, perhaps best known as the seat of the Knights of St. John, or more commonly known as the Knights of Malta. We also see the story of St. Paul’s shipwreck as told in paintings, found in the church of the same name. Dotted with quaint cafés and shops, the city is today one of Malta’s main attractions. It hosts, among other memorable sites, the majestic St John’s Co-Cathedral with its imposing bastions and treasure trove of priceless paintings.Enjoy hearing the history of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem. We see the Church of St. Paul’s Shipwreck with the relics of the saint’s hand, celebrate Mass and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure. March 15, DAY 5 – MALTA – SICILY- We depart the island of Malta and take a ferry to the island of Sicily, disembarking in Poz- zallo. After the Claudian expulsion, St. Paul did not stay long in Malta as he was anxious to see what had become of the Christians in Rome. They set off and landed in Syracuse, Sicily, less than seventy miles away, just as we do similarly today. We celebrate Mass. Overnight in Taormina area. (B, D)

March 16, DAY 6 – SYRACUSE – TAORMINA We find ourselves at what was once one of the greatest ports in the central Mediterranean, and where St. Paul stayed after he departed Malta. We see the Greek and Roman Theaters and the Viale Rizzo. Next, we visit the Church of St. where St Paul preached. The building has an inscription in memory of the brief stay of St. Paul in Siracusa: “HIC OLIM SYRACUSIS TRIDUO MANENTIS”. In a polychrome, glass rosette is depicted the effigy of the saint. The Catacombs of St. John contain some 20,000 Early Christian tombs. In Roman times, Christians were not allowed to bury their dead within the city limits, so they went outside the boundaries to create burial chambers in what had been used by the Greeks as underground aqueducts. The early Christians recycled these into chapels. St. Paul is said to have preached on this spot, so the early Christians venerated it as holy.
