Wristbands will be given out once admission has been paid, including the Mechanic’s Institute on Show Day which will entitle people to visit the Art Show and continue on to the Showground or vice versa. This will entitle the entrant to come and go from the showgrounds. Everybody entering the showground does so at their own risk. All entrants in all show events must sign a waiver and/or produce a wrist-band before competing, including the Novelty Events. Duties of Exhibitors, Stewards & Judges

EXHIBITORS 1. Exhibitors when entering an exhibit must furnish the Steward with a description of the exhibit and the number of the class in which they wish to compete. 2. Exhibitors must deliver their exhibit to the Showground on or before the hour advertised, obtain a card (marked with the section, number of class and number of exhibit) and affix it to the exhibit. 3. Exhibitors must deliver the exhibit and fee, with card attached, to the Steward appointed for the section. 4. Exhibitors must not remove the exhibit without permission after delivering it to the Stewards. 5. Exhibitors of stock must have a person in attendance to parade same at hours notified.

STEWARDS Instructions to Stewards in all Sections. 1. Shall attend at the time and place notified in the circular the Catalogue. 2. Shall examine as to the correctness of the certificate of the catalogue. 3. Shall examine as to the correctness of the certificate of all exhibits and to all matters in connection herewith. 4. Shall wait upon the Judges, furnish them with award papers, prize cards or ribbons and afford them all information and attention necessary to the discharge of their duties. 5. Shall sign the award papers conjointly with the Judges, see the prize cards or ribbons are properly affixed to the prize exhibits and certified to the award being noted by the Secretary in the society’s entrants registry book. 6. Shall arrange amongst themselves for the constant and effective supervision of both exhibitors and the public. 7. Shall in any case they think it is advisable to reject any exhibit in any section, at once report same to the Secretary, who shall take immediate action in the matter. 8. See that the awards are clearly marked in the Stewards book and hand same to the Secretary immediately judging is completed.

JUDGING Instructions to Judges: 1. Award Papers: The Judges shall fill up the award paper supplied to them in all their duties, assign reasons for their decisions (if requested) and sign and hand the same to the Stewards and must note the time of signing such papers. 2. Insufficient Merit: When the Judges consider the exhibit or any class does not possess sufficient merit they shall, through the Stewards, at once report the same to the Committee with their reasons, in full and the Committee shall act as they deem expedient, may award no prize or give second or third in place of a first. 3. The Committee may withhold any prize when statements regarding exhibits which have been made by the exhibitor have been proved to be erroneous or fraudulent or where any doubt exists as to whether an exhibit has been shown in accordance with these regulations and exhibitors found guilty of false entries may be debarred from again exhibiting.

4. Should any exhibits having gained a prize be disqualified the next on the list does not necessarily retain the prize. The Committee with or without the advice of the Judges, shall decide the question. 5. Extra Prizes: The Judges of any section, should they consider an exhibit deserving of a special prize, may recommend the Committee to award the same. 6. In awarding the Championship, the Judges will be required to select the next animal in order of merit to be called the Reserve, which will take the place of the Champion in the event of the latter being disqualified for any cause. 7. That Judge may award a second or third prize instead of a first and no second prize will be awarded unless there are four exhibits except where the first is not awarded.

GENERAL COMMENTS Prizes may be collected during the day but must be fully collected by 4:00 pm on the day of competition from the Secretary’s Office. The above prizes are subject to the following regulations and conditions:

1. That all eligible entries have an entry form specifying in which classes the entries, accompanied by objects, are to be entered. 2. That all exhibitors of stock shall state at the time of the entry the age, as near as possible, of the stock they exhibit, and the sheep, the date when shorn and how. 3. That every care shall be taken of the objects intended for exhibition, but the Association shall not be responsible for any losses or deaths. 4. That no prizes be awarded without competition unless the objects are strongly recommended by the Judges. The Judges are also invited to recommend the Association to award prizes for objects of particular merit, which may be exhibited though not specified in the prize schedule, and to withhold prizes where the objects are not of sufficient merit. 5. That any person interfering with the Judges and Stewards during the time they are in execution of their duties may be removed from the ground. 6. Should any protest be lodged as the awarding of prizes, the matter will be referred to the Committee appointed for the purpose whose decision will be final. 7. Protest with $50 deposit (which will be forfeited if the protest be deemed frivolous) must be lodged in writing with the Secretary within half an hour of the award being made. 8. If, in the opinion of the Judges, there should be equality of Merit, they are instructed to refer to the Steward, and their joint decision shall be final. 9. Proved wilful misrepresentation of exhibits will not merely forfeit the prize, but render the exhibitor liable to be disqualified from any exhibiting at any future show or shows of the Association. 10. All pavilion exhibits to be on the ground as advertised. 11. Damage through exhibits: The Association will not be responsible for any accident that may be caused through or by an exhibit, and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor will hold the Association blameless and indemnify it against legal proceedings for such accidents.

12. Damage to Exhibits: The Association will not under any circumstances hold itself responsible for any loss or non delivery of livestock or other exhibit at the Association’s exhibition or any damage thereto. 13. The committee reserves the right of refusing or cancelling any entry without given reason for doing so. 14. The owner of any exhibit diseased or disapproved of as an exhibit by the Committee must, immediately upon notice to that effect, remove such exhibit from the ground. 15. As soon as the Judges have made their award in any class, the prize exhibits shall be distinguished by different coloured ribbons, 1st-Blue, 2nd-Red, 3rd-White. The Champion will be Red, White and Blue. 16. Stallions are not allowed to compete in the Miscellaneous Horse Section except in the Jumping and Trotting Contests. 17. Exhibitors must deliver their exhibits at the showground at or before the hours specified, and obtain from the Steward tickets, one of which just be securely fixed to each single exhibit. 18. The Committee or Stewards of the various sections may refuse to receive or may compel the removal of what they consider objectionable exhibits. 19. If the Stewards are of the opinion that an exhibit shown is not the bona-fide property of the exhibitor or is over the age stated on the entry form, they are hereby authorised to obtain evidence and, if the by-laws have been violated, they may remove such exhibit 20. The Committee reserves the right at any time to postpone the Exhibition or any event thereof in consequence of the inclemency of the weather, or from an sufficient cause to a date or dates deemed suitable by the Committee and no entrance fees shall be returnable in the event of such postponements. The reasonableness of the cause or causes of the judgement shall be conclusive and not open to question by any exhibitor or other persons affected by such postponements. 21. No person except an officer of Committeeman shall be admitted to any place where judging is proceeding until the prizes have been awarded. 22. In case any dispute may arise as to the construction put on any of the by-laws the same shall be determined by the Committee of the Association whose decision shall be final and without appeal by any exhibitor to any court of law. 23. Any member of the Committee may enter a protest free of cost in any class in which he is not an exhibitor. 24. The office bearers of the Committee do not hold themselves responsible for the prize money further than proportionate of the extent of the funds which they are supplied for the purpose nor will they indemnify exhibitors for any article or articles that may be lost, stolen, delaying in transit or destroyed during the Show unless it can be proved that the loss, etc was the result of carelessness or negligence on the part of the Committee or officer. All claims for lost property must be in writing and lodged with the Secretary within seven days following the show. The Committee do not hold themselves responsible for the judging or safe custody of late exhibits. 25. The Committee may abandon the Exhibitors or any event thereof through wet weather or by any reasons which may make such a course advisable in the opinion of the Committee. Should the exhibition or any event be abandoned or cancelled, exhibitors shall be entitled to a return of entrance fee paid, but no cause of action, liability or obligation shall be maintained or incurred by the Committee or the Association by reason of such abandonment or cancellation.

26. The Committee reserves the right to call upon any competitor subject to age limit, to furnish at his or her expense, proof of age and may at its discretion withhold any prize money until such proof be furnished. The age of the competitor shall be taken on the day of appearance in the Show.

GENERAL: Notwithstanding the dates fixed for the departure of exhibits, the Secretary reserves the right to retain any or all of them, for such further time as the Committee may consider necessary. No exhibit shall be removed from the exhibition without a formal permit from the Steward or Secretary.

The committee of the Mendooran PA&H Association would like to sincerely thank all the people of Mendooran and surrounding towns who have contributed to make our Show so interesting and entertaining. Oscar & Charlotte Gavin Trophy This Trophy was donated to recognise meritorious entries in as wide a number of sections as possible. This Trophy may be won by an individual or individuals nominated to represent the efforts of a family.

1. Open to individuals or families living within 100kms radius. 2. Family entry must nominate a family representative and all family entries must be part of that nominees immediate family. (grandparents, parents, sons and daughters) 3. Points are awarded for the best three awards in each section, 2 for 1st and 1 for 2nd. 4. Mr Oscar Gavin and his wife Charlotte and their children Bryant and Heather were tremendous supporters of Agricultural Shows for many years. Mr Gavin was President of the Mendooran Show for over 31 years. Their daughter Heather donated this wonderful Trophy each year in their memory and the family have continued this tradition since her death.

ALL COMPETITORS COMPETE IN RING EVENTS AT THEIR OWN RISK

Competitors must compete in headwear applicable to the event in which they are competing as per EFA guidelines.

All hard hats/helmets must be worn correctly with chin straps done up securely.

As an EFA run event, EFA insurance insists that competitors wear approved helmets.

Stallions are to be tied and collared at all times.

Open Hacks and Hunter Hacks can only compete in one section.

Anyone that has won first, is not eligible to compete in the Second Chance class in each ring.

Newcomers are a horse that has not been shown before under saddle, before the 1st January and is to be ridden in a snaffle bit.

Sheep entered in this section may be housed for seven (7) days prior to the Show. The Society’s definition of the condition. ‘Bred and owned by the Exhibitor’, in this section shall be that the exhibitor must be responsible for the mating of the sire and dam. MENDOORAN ANNUAL SHOW 28th & 29th March 2020 51 RICH FRUIT CAKE Here’s What You Need: 250g (8 oz) Sultanas 250g (8 oz) Chopped Raisins 250g (8 oz) Plain Flour 250g (8 oz) Currants 4 Large Eggs 125g (4 oz) Chopped Mixed Peel 60g (2 oz) Self Raising Flour 90g (3 oz) Chopped red Glace Cherries 90g (3 oz) Chopped Blanched Almonds 1/4 teaspoon Grated Nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon Lemon Essence or Finely Grated Lemon Rind 1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Essence 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cloves 1/2 teaspoon Almond Essence 250g (8 oz) Butter 1/3 cup Sherry or Brandy 250g (8 oz) Soft Brown Sugar

Here’s what you do: • Mix together all the fruits and nuts and sprinkle with the Sherry or Brandy. Cover and leave for at least 2 hours, but preferably overnight. • Sift together the flours & spices. Cream together the butter and sugar with the essences. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition , then alternately add the fruit and flour mixtures. Mix thoroughly. The mixture should be stiff enough to support a wooden spoon. • Place the mixture into a prepared tin no larger than 20cm (8”), and bake in a slow oven for approximately 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Allow the cake to cool in the tin. • NOTE. To ensure uniformity and depending upon the size it is suggested the raisins be snipped into 2 to 3 pieces, cherries 4 to 6 pieces and the almonds crosswise into 3 to 4 pieces. 2019 Art Preview Evening Highlights

Rules & Regulations

*This new competition is currently open to all shows and groups to adopt

1. The exhibit is to be not more than one metre on any one side (rectangle or square shape only) 2 Framed and board mounted exhibits not permitted. 3. Must be machine pieced and machine quilted. 4. Minimal Embellishments. Small amount only not to overpower patchwork. 5. Each exhibit entered must be the bona fide work of the exhibitor. 6. An exhibit having won at a Show will compete at a Group Final. 7. An exhibitor may represent only one local show at the Group Final. 8. If, for any reason, a winner is unable to compete at Group level then the second place getter is eligible to compete. 9. All work to have been completed in the last eighteen (18) months prior to its entry at a local show. 10. An exhibit that has previously competed at Group level is not eligible to compete again. 11. If this class is not scheduled or attracts no entries at a local show, the Chief Pavilion Steward in consultation with the appropriate Pavilion Section Judges, may select a suitable quilt and, with the exhibitor’s permission, enter them in the Group judging as an exhibit representing the particular Society concerned. 12. Group Final location and date is to be determined by the Group. It is the responsibility of either the exhibitor or the Show Society to ensure the quilt is delivered on Judging Day and collected in an appropriate time frame after the competition.

2020 Mendooran Showgirl We are very proud to introduce our gorgeous Showgirl this year - Emma Bennetts - Emma represented Mendooran at the Zone 5 finals in Gresford on February1st 2020 and we are delighted to have Emma as an ambassador for Mendooran.

Thanks to the CRIFP grant in 2019 the Pavilion had a makeover and looked fantastic at the 2019 100th show.

Mendooran PA&H Assoc were excited to help celebrate 150 years for the Mendooran Central School in true country style.

Vale Judy Henderson

The Mendooran PA&H Assoc would like to remember Judy Henderson and her commitment and dedication to the Mendooran Show each year. Judy was the Secretary of the Mendooran PA&H Association and loved the Pavilion, Judy was a steward and a long standing team member of the Pavilion. Judy gave so much time to ensure the show ran smoothly and that the Pavilion was always looked amazing.

Mendooran PA&H Assoc Inc would like to acknowledge the sad passing of Ron Pascoe and the long association he and his family had with the Mendooran Show. Mr Ron Pascoe and his wife Dianne are Life Members of the show and Ron was the groundsman for over 40 years.
