Past Performance of the Nominated Horses Past Performance of the Nominated Horses 2020 Holiday February 23th post time 15:40 Race 11 THE FEBRUARY STAKES G1 TOKYO Racecourse 1600m Dirt (left handed) 4-Year-Olds & Up 57kg Fillies & Mares allowed 2kg Southern Hemisphere Bred Horses born in 2016 allowed 1kg Total Value JPY 216,000,000 *exclusive of Stakes Money, inclusive of Participation Incentive Money *Information as of February 10 Please note: *1 Track conditions are described according to Japanese standard which consists of four levels and description may differ from that of the country where the race was run. Four levels: Turf - firm, good, yielding, soft Dirt - standard, good, muddy, sloppy *2 The colomn "Breeder" used to indicate "breeding farm" until Dec 2006, however, from Jan 2007 it indicates "broodmare's owner". Due to this modification in the database, NOT all of the Breeder data are available. *3 Margin is described in terms of time difference (seconds) for Japanese races. For most of the foreign races it is in terms of length, but in some cases the fractions may be adjusted (eg. 9 3/4 Lg ---> 10 Lg). *4 "Total Money Earned in JRA races" includes Stakes Money but does not include Participation Incentive Money. • Exclusive Topics for Horse Racing in Japan - Spring Edition
Exclusive Topics for Horse Racing in Japan - Spring Edition - March 2019 The Japan Racing Association The JRA’s 2019 horse racing season will start in earnest with the three-year-old classic trials in March as established horses begin to prepare towards the spring G1 events. In this special Spring edition of our international newsletter, we are pleased to bring you up to date on the progress of last year’s stars and this season’s key runners, part of our ongoing effort to support your reporting of JRA events. High Expectations for Almond Eye’s Further Success Challenges abroad by Japanese-trained horses resulted in one or more G1 titles every year from 2011 to 2017, but expectations are high for renewed success this spring when a number of top Japanese runners will seek success against international competitors. The focus is centered on Almond Eye (JPN, F4, by Lord Kanaloa), JRA’s 2018 Horse of the Year and winner of the fillies’ Triple Crown, who is slated to run in the Dubai Turf (G1, 1,800m) on March 30. Trainer Sakae Kunieda explained the reason why he chose the Dubai Turf instead of the Dubai Sheema Classic (G1, 2,410m), stating that “the filly is more comfortable at 1,800 meters” and that “Japanese runners have come up with favorable results at this distance in the past three Dubai Turf races, producing two wins and a second.” The coming Dubai Turf will be Almond Eye’s first start in four months, since she claimed the Japan Cup (G1, 2,400m) in a record 2:20.6.

Exclusive Topics for Horse Racing in Japan – Summer Edition – July 2021 The Japan Racing Association JRA-organized races and racegoers have fortunately been able to avoid the worst effects of the COVID-19 pandemic this year. Whereas races had to be held in front of empty stands from mid- January, venues gradually began to reopen their doors with capacity limitations as early as March, Nakayama Racecourse being the last to do so in April. With the exception of the February Stakes, the spring G1 series was able to be held with the attendance and support of fans. The World All-Star Jockeys, however, which is held annually in Sapporo in late August, had to be canceled for the second year in a row. Major spring events around the world resumed this year. At the Dubai World Cup day meeting in late March, Japanese contenders registered runner-up efforts in four G1 races on the card. The following month, they swept the top four places in Hong Kong’s Queen Elizabeth II Cup (G1, 2,000m), where Loves Only You (JPN, M5, by Deep Impact) took home first prize. As contenders expected to compete abroad this autumn gradually coming to light, six home-bred nominees for this year’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1, 2,400m) on October 3 were announced in May. The first potential Arc runner to be announced was Deep Bond (JPN, C4, by Kizuna), who was 10th, 5th and 4th in last year’s Triple Crown races, each time behind champion Contrail (JPN, C4, by Deep Impact) who made a clean sweep.
