Code of Ethics and Professional Practices. Overview of GPA Scales Starting in the fall of 2017, Albuquerque Academy began listing three GPAs on every student’s transcript.

Cumulative 100 GPA Our transcripts show semester grades on our 100-point scale and averages those grades to produce an overall Cumulative GPA. Our detailed grade distribution for each academic class is calculated on the 100-point scale. Most of the data listed on the transcript appears the same as it did prior to the fall of 2017.

Unweighted 4.0 GPA All semester grades on the 100-point scale are converted to 4.0 grades based on the scale below. After the grades are converted, they are averaged to calculate the Unweighted 4.0 GPA. Semester Grades Unweighted Value Semester Grades Unweighted Value 90 - 100 4.0 78 2.7 89 3.7 77 2.7 88 3.7 76 2.3 87 3.7 75 2.3 86 3.3 74 2.3 85 3.3 73 2.0 84 3.3 72 2.0 83 3.0 71 2.0 82 3.0 70 2.0 81 3.0 69 1.7 80 3.0 68 1.7 79 2.7 67 1.7 60 - 66 1.0 Weighted 4.0 GPA For every semester of Advanced Placement or Advanced coursework (the most rigorous courses offered) the student has enrolled in, an extra .02 points will be added directly to the unweighted GPA to determine the weighted GPA.

For example, a student who takes 6 semesters of Advanced Placement or Advanced coursework would earn a weighted GPA calculated by adding .12 to the unweighted GPA; a 3.53 unweighted GPA would become a 3.65 weighted GPA.

All three GPAs are listed on one line at the end of each transcript.

We believe that this GPA system will give a more accurate assessment of the rigor that our students have sought in their Albuquerque Academy education.
