Con has a long and proud tradition of rugby in Cork, in Munster, in Ireland and across the rugby playing world. The club has provided some exceptional individuals as players, coaches and administrators throughout the 125+ year history of CCFC. One of my main objectives for the year ahead, is to continue that tradition of aligning the club's considerable resources, to support all our players -- juveniles through youths, U20s and adults -- to achieve their full potential, both on and off the rugby field. Ahead of the 2019-20 season, I want to take this opportunity to thank our club sponsors at all levels. We have been very lucky to have such loyal and committed backers, especially Kearys who have been the main club sponsor for the past seven years. O’Neills have likewise been a great partner in supporting our senior team while the juvenile section of the club has been thriving under the generous support of Zurich. I also welcome Energia as the main sponsor of the All Ireland League. Their enthusiastic support for domestic rugby in Ireland is already evident and I wish them every success in this venture. The support of all commercial sponsors for the domestic game in Ireland is deeply appreciated. Our club is hugely dependent on the many volunteers who contribute enormously to the running of the club. It is quite staggering that a large, complex organisation like Cork Constitution FC can be run almost entirely through the efforts of unpaid volunteers. The breath of activities incorporated within the club is quite enormous - including bar, catering, events, juveniles, travel, house & grounds, fixtures, gear & equipment, and over 600 playing members. And behind each of these activities is a small band of dedicated volunteers. It is also quite humbling when you witness the time, effort and passion of these amazing individuals, united in their desire to see the club perform at an exceptional level in all areas. In this World Cup year, it is a great honour for the club to have two representatives on the Irish squad. I'd like to wish Joe Schmidt the very best of luck for the tournament and on behalf of the entire club, I would like to send our support to Peter O'Mahony and John Ryan, who are such fantastic ambassadors for the club. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the members of Cork Constitution FC, to welcome all visitors to the club for the 2019-20 season. Whether you are a player, coach, supporter or parent, enjoy your visit to Temple Hill, and I look forward to an exciting season ahead. 4 Vice Presidents Jack Dinan Michael O’Gorman Rose Dunne Tom Meade Ralph Keyes Don O’Riordan Kevin Flanagan Dan O’Connell Tony O’Connor Pau Derham Eddie Kehelly Stephen Murphy John K Murphy Charlie Murphy Colin Kilbride Frank Doyle Niall Murray Michael Boland Brian Walsh Padraig Higgins Pat Moynihan Pat Twomey Hugh O’Donovan Hugh Foley Eddie O’Connor Frank O’Connell Rea Kennedy Ray Clarke Liam Coughlan Ken Fitzgerald Kenny Murphy Fred Casey Ian Doyle Ross O’Dowling Christy Cantillon Tony Roche Mark O’Sullivan Jerry Murray Aidan McNamara Ian Murray David Murphy Donal Grogan Dermot O’Leary Liam S. Cork. ii AUTHORS NOTE & ACKNOWLEDGEMENT When the Cork Constitution Club celebrated the centenary of its foundation I had the privilege of writing the history. Now I have been entrusted with updating that chronicle. While obviously the emphasis will be on the events of the last twenty-five years - the most momentous period in the history of rugby union - as a tribute to the founding fathers, the first chapter of the original history will yet again appear. While it would not be practical to include a detailed history of the first 100 years chapter two is a brief resume of the achievements of the first fifty years and likewise chapter three embraces the significant events of the second fifty years in the illustrious history of one of Ireland’s great sporting institutions. There follows the detailed history and achievements, and they were considerable, of the last twenty five years. I owe a considerable debt of gratitude to many people for their help during the compilation of this book. In that regard I would particularly like to thank Noel Walsh, the man with whom I liaised during the writing of the book.

Cork Constitution Football Club Founded 1892 Membership Book SEASON 2016-2017 ! 1890 400 150 ZURICH INSURANCE. FOR THOSE WHO TRULY LOVE. Zurich Insurance plc is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. 2 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE It is an honour and a privilege for me to have been elected President of Cork Constitution for the 2016/2017 Season, the 125th anniversary of the founding of our great club. Cork Constitution Football Club is a Rugby Club with a proud history and tradition which is a great source of pride to all involved. As part of our 125 year celebration we embarked on a pre season tour to Canada that included visits to St Johns in Newfoundland and also Montreal. The tour party comprised 24 players and 12 club officials and we had two games with some very promising young talent emerging who grasped the opportunity to lay down a marker for the season ahead. It was a highly successful tour and the players really enjoyed the experience and they were wonderful ambassadors for the club. Last season was a tremendous success both on and off the field culminating in our Senior Team winning the All-Ireland Bateman Cup and Munster Senior Cup Double and our Under 20’s winning the Munster Donal Walsh trophy and the Frazer McMullen. These fantastic achievements do not come without extreme hard work, sacrifice and determination from players and coaches alike which is a credit both to them and the club. We have set the standard for Youth and Juvenile rugby for many years and I would like to thank the unsung heroes, our coaches and trainers, for all the generous time and effort they put into developing our future players.
