FC Barcelona mounted a remarkable comeback to reach the quarter-finals, and their reward is a tie against a Juventus side whom they thwarted to claim their most recent UEFA Champions League crown two seasons ago. • Having produced a UEFA Champions League record in retrieving their tie against Paris Saint-Germain in the previous round, Barcelona now travel to Turin having never won away to Juve – but with memories of their 2015 success against the Bianconeri still fresh in the memory. Previous meetings • The teams' seventh and most recent contest came in the 2015 UEFA Champions League final in Berlin, when Barcelona ran out 3-1 winners to take the trophy for the fifth time. Ivan Rakitić gave Luis Enrique's side, featuring current Juve defender , a fourth-minute lead and though Álvaro Morata levelled for 's Juve ten minutes after half-time, Luis Suárez (68) and Neymar (90+7) wrapped up Barça's fourth triumph in ten years. • The teams at the Olympiastadion on 6 June 2015 were: Juventus: Buffon, Lichtsteiner, Barzagli, Bonucci, Evra (Coman 89), Marchisio, Pirlo, Pogba, Vidal (Pereyra 79), Morata (Llorente 85), Tévez. Barcelona: Ter Stegen, Alves, Piqué. Mascherano, Alba, Busquets, Rakitić (Mathieu 90+1), Iniesta (Xavi 78), Messi, Suárez (Pedro 90+6), Neymar. • That was Barça's third win against Juve, and their first since 1991. Then, Johan Cruyff's team had beaten a Juventus side coached by Gigi Maifredi 3-1 at home in their European Cup Winners' Cup semi-final first leg thanks to goals from Hristo Stoichkov (56, 60) and Jon Andoni Goikoetxea (76). That overturned Pierluigi Casiraghi's 12th-minute opener for Juve, who went out despite winning the second leg 1-0 with a 61st-minute Roberto Baggio strike. • That was the teams' second encounter. The first came in the 1985/86 European Champion Clubs' Cup quarter-finals when Barcelona again came out on top, Julio Alberto scoring the only goal of the first leg at the Camp Nou. Barça again struck first in the Turin second leg, through Steve Archibald, and went through despite Michel Platini's 44th- minute equaliser. • Current Barcelona coach Luis Enrique appeared in both matches of Juve's sole two-legged success against the Blaugrana, in the 2002/03 UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The first game in Turin finished 1-1, Javier Saviola's 78th-minute effort cancelling out Paolo Montero's 16th minute goal for the home side. • The teams at the Stadio Delle Alpi on 9 April 2003 were: Juventus: Buffon, Ferrara, Tacchinardi, Montero, Tudor (Birindelli 61), Thuram, Zambrotta (Zalayeta 67), Davids, Nedvěd, Camoranesi, Del Piero (Di Vaio 82). Barcelona: Bonano, Reiziger, F De Boer, Puyol, Motta, Gabri, Xavi (Gerard 74), Riquelme (Mendieta 63), Overmars (Enrique 83), Kluivert, Saviola. • In the second leg at the Camp Nou, Xavi Hernández's 66th-minute strike annulled Pavel Nedvěd's goal for Juve 13 minutes earlier and sent the tie into extra time, with Juve reduced to ten men by Edgar Davids' 79th-minute red card. With penalties looming, however, Juve substitute Marcelo Zalayeta scored the decisive goal (114) to take the Italians into the last four. Match background Juventus • This is Juve's 17th European Cup quarter-final – their record reads W11 L5. This is their tenth quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League era, but just their third in the last seven attempts. • The Bianconeri are on a 21-match (W12 D9) unbeaten home run in UEFA competition, dating back to a 2-0 loss against FC Bayern München in April 2013. • Juventus have won two of their four home games in this season's competition, drawing the other two. Against FC Porto in the round of 16 second leg they were 1-0 victors in Turin, going through having won 2-0 away. • Juve's record in two-legged ties against Spanish clubs is W8 L6. • Juventus have already faced Spanish opposition this term, drawing 0-0 at home to Sevilla FC on matchday one. 13 Juventus - FC Barcelona Tuesday 11 April 2017 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit Juventus Stadium, Turin Head coach Massimiliano Allegri Date of birth: 11 August 1967 Nationality: Italian Playing career: UC Cuoiopelli, AS Livorno Calcio (twice), Pisa Calcio, AC Pavia, Pescara Calcio (twice), , AC Perugia, Calcio Padova, SSC Napoli, AC Pistoiese, Aglianese Calcio 1923 Coaching career: Aglianese Calcio 1923, SPAL 1907, US Grosseto FC, US Sassuolo Calcio, Cagliari Calcio, AC Milan, Juventus • A creative attacking midfielder, Allegri started out in his native Tuscany with Cuoiopelli and then Livorno, his hometown club. First appeared in Serie A for Pisa against Milan in 1988/89 but played only twice that season before heading back to Livorno. • Returned to Serie A after helping Pescara win promotion in 1992. The following term he scored 12 goals under Giovanni Galeone, the coach Allegri still considers his mentor. After leaving Pescara in 1993, had spells at Cagliari, Perugia, Padova and Napoli before hanging up his boots back in Tuscany with fourth division Aglianese in 2003. • Moved straight into coaching at Aglianese, prior to taking charge at SPAL and Grosseto. In November 2008 he won the Panchina d'Oro (golden bench) as the third division's best coach having led Sassuolo to promotion. • Had earlier been appointed by Cagliari whom he led to ninth place in 2009, winning the Panchina d'Oro again, this time as Serie A's best coach. A bad run of results the following season prompted Allegri's dismissal on 13 April 2010 – although he had already done enough to earn a two-year contract at Milan. • Allegri's first season at San Siro ended with his new club winning the Scudetto for the first time since 2004. Dismissed in January 2014 with Milan 11th in Serie A, that summer he was appointed to succeed Antonio Conte at Juventus. Allegri won the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia with Juventus in his first season, also taking his side to the final of the UEFA Champions League, and added another domestic double in 2015/16. Luis Enrique Date of birth: 8 May 1970 Nationality: Spanish Playing career: Real Sporting de Gijón, Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona Coaching career: FC Barcelona B, AS Roma, RC Celta de Vigo, FC Barcelona • Known for his versatility, Luis Enrique spent the bulk of his playing career with Spain's two most successful clubs having started out at hometown side Sporting Gijón. • Won the Liga and Copa del Rey with Madrid and Barcelona − whom he surprisingly joined on a free transfer from the Merengues in 1996 − and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Super Cup at the Camp Nou, where he played under, among others, Sir Bobby Robson, Louis van Gaal and Frank Rijkaard. • A scorer of 12 goals in 57 appearances for Spain and an Olympic gold medallist on home soil in 1992, Enrique moved into coaching with Barcelona B in 2008, succeeding his former Azulgrana team-mate Josep Guardiola. • Appointed coach of Roma in June 2011 but held the post for just one season after a disappointing campaign. Resurfaced at Celta in summer 2013, leading the Galician side to a ninth-place finish in the Liga in his only season in charge. • Left in May 2014 and was soon announced as Gerardo Martino's replacement at Barcelona on a two-year contract. After a challenging first half of the season, 17 wins from 19 league games helped secured a Liga title with the Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League following as Luis Enrique emulated Guardiola in winning the treble in his first season in charge, adding another league and cup double in 2015/16.

UEFA Champions League knockout stage: Did you know? • Teams have overturned a first-leg deficit to go through 39 times, including FC Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Leicester City FC and AS Monaco FC in the 2016/17 round of 16. Only twice – AFC Ajax's defeat of Panathinaikos FC in the 1995/96 semi-finals and FC Internazionale Milano's victory against FC Bayern München in the 2010/11 round of 16 – has a side progressed after a home first-leg loss. • The biggest losing margin a side has overhauled was achieved by FC Barcelona against Paris Saint-Germain in this season's last 16, when they lost 4-0 away but progressed thanks to a 6-1 home success. That eclipsed the previous record held by RC Deportivo La Coruña in the 2003/04 quarter-finals, when they went down 4-1 at AC Milan but won 4-0 at home. • Twenty-eight ties have been decided on away goals, including nine where the triumphant team lost the first leg. • In all, 27 ties have required extra time. Eleven have been settled by extra time alone: four quarter-finals, five round of 16 encounters – including Bayern-Juventus in 2015/16 – the 2007/08 semi-final between Chelsea and Liverpool FC, and the 2013/14 final. • Sixteen ties have gone to penalties, including seven finals – 1996, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2012 and 2016. The first two-legged tie decided on spot kicks was PSV Eindhoven's 4-2 victory over Olympique Lyonnais on 13 April 2005 after a 2-2 aggregate draw, still the only quarter-final to go to penalties. • The 2015/16 round of 16 tie between Club Atlético de Madrid and PSV was the first to finish goalless after two legs. Thirteen have finished 1-0 on aggregate, most recently Real Madrid CF's defeat of Manchester City FC in the 2015/16 semi-finals. • Real Madrid won 6-1 at FC Schalke 04 in the 2013/14 round of 16, equalling the knockout phase record for the biggest first-leg lead – Bayern's 5-0 success at Sporting Clube de Portugal in the 2008/09 round of 16. Bayern eventually went through 12-1 after a 7-1 stroll in the home second leg; that tie also featured more goals (13) over its two legs than any UEFA Champions League knockout tie. • Bayern hold the record for the largest margin of victory in a UEFA Champions League knockout match having beaten both FC Basel 1893 (2011/12) and FC Shakhtar Donetsk (2014/15) 7-0 in the round of 16 second leg. • The biggest European Cup quarter-final victory was Real Madrid CF's 8-0 first-leg defeat of Sevilla FC in 1957/58. • Manchester United FC's 7-1 win against AS Roma in 2006/07 is the biggest victory in a UEFA Champions League quarter-final match. Bayern beat FC Porto 6-1 in 2014/15, FC Barcelona have twice won 5-1, against Chelsea FC after extra time (1999/2000) and FC Shakhtar Donetsk (2010/11), while there have been four 4-0 victories. • Chelsea FC-Liverpool FC in 2008/09 featured 12 goals over the two legs, a quarter-final record. • Clarence Seedorf is the only player to lift the European Cup with three clubs (Ajax 1995, Real Madrid 1998, Milan 2003, 2007). Bob Paisley (Liverpool 1977, 1978, 1981) was the first coach to win three times, a feat Carlo Ancelotti (Milan 2003, 2007, Real Madrid 2014) replicated. • In 2014 Ancelotti also became the fifth coach to win the trophy with two clubs; Ottmar Hitzfeld (Borussia Dortmund 1997, Bayern 2001), Ernst Happel (Feyenoord 1970, Hamburger SV 1983), José Mourinho (FC Porto 2004, Internazionale 2010) and Jupp Heynckes (Real Madrid 1998, Bayern 2013) had previously achieved the feat. • No team has successfully defended the UEFA Champions League trophy, with Milan (1989, 1990) the last club to pick up consecutive European Champion Clubs' Cups. Milan (1994, 1995), Ajax (1995, 1996), Juventus (1996, 1997) and Manchester United FC (2008, 2009) have all returned to the final as holders only to lose. • Only two sides have ever won the UEFA Champions League on home soil: Dortmund (1997, final in ) and Juventus (1996, final in Rome). Manchester United lost the 2011 final in London and 12 months later Bayern were beaten in the showpiece in their own stadium, the Fußball Arena München. UEFA Champions League: Did you know? • Lionel Messi became the first player to score five goals in a match in FC Barcelona's 7-1 triumph against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on 7 March 2012, a feat reproduced by FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Luiz Adriano at FC BATE Borisov on 21 October 2014. Eleven more players, also including Messi, have scored four times in a game, most recently for Real Madrid on matchday six in 2015/16. • Cristiano Ronaldo set a new record for a UEFA Champions League stage with 11 goals in 2015/16, eclipsing his own mark of nine goals in 2013/14, which Luiz Adriano matched in 2014/15. Lionel Messi got ten goals in 2016/17; Zlatan Ibrahimović (2013/14), Ruud van Nistelrooy (2004/05), Filippo Inzaghi and Hernán Crespo (both 2002/03) managed eight.
