 Grievance Redressal mechanism for Faculty, staff and students

Grievance Redressal Cell: In order to ensure transparency by Technical Institutions imparting technical education in admissions and with paramount objective of preventing unfair practices and to provide a mechanism to innocent students for redressal of their grievances, a Grievances Redressal Cell headed by a ombudsman is formed as per Gazette Notification of AICTE on 25th May,2012. Vishakha Committee: Vishakha Committee is formed every year as per Vishakha Guidelines set up by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in order to protect girl students and working woman against sexual harassment in the place of work. The committee is nominated by the head of the institute comprises of Female members and senior teaching & Non-teaching staffs.

 Establishment of Anti Ragging Committee

As per the order of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in SLP No. 24295 of 2006 dated 16-05-2007 and in Civil Appeal number 887 of 2009, dated 08-05-2009 to prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging and AICTE notification (No.37-3/Legal/AICTE/2009) dated 01-07-2009 regarding Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging in Technical Institutes, Anti Ragging Committee is formed every year for that academic session to curb the menace of Ragging. The committee is headed by the Principal or Officer in Charge. The committee constitute of nominated members from Administration, Police Dept, Lecturers and Non-teaching staffs, representatives from Guardians of students, Representatives from fresher’s and senior students. A mentoring cell constituting of four (4) representatives of each department from 2nd and 3rd year students is formed to monitor ragging or ragging related issues. It is the duty of the Anti-Ragging Committee to ensure compliance with the provisions of these Regulations as well as the provisions of any law for the time being in force concerning ragging; and also to monitor and oversee the performance of the Anti-Ragging Squad in prevention of ragging in the institution.  Establishment of Committee for SC/ ST

The Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) Cell in an institute promotes the special interests of students in the reserved category. It is expected to provide special inputs in areas where the students experience difficulties. The Cell may conduct regular remedial coaching classes on life skills, personality development, writing assignments and making presentations, as well as Hindi and local language classes. The Cell also is expected to organize interactive sessions and informal meetings with students to attend to their personal, social and academic problems.

Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFW)

As per Government norms the economically backward meritorious students of all AICTE approved Govt. and Govt. sponsored polytechnics of the state of West Bengal is eligible for Tuition fee waiver (TFW) scheme. Upto 5% of the sanctioned intake per course will be made available in the scheme. The waiver is limited to tuition fee only.

Eligibility: Students who have been merit listed in the JEXPO conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development, whose annual family income from all sources in the preceding financial year is less than Rs. 2.5 lakhs (This limit may change time to time) only who are domiciled in West Bengal are eligible for availing TFW scheme.

11.1 Eligibility Criterion for Admission:

Through JEXPO (Entry to the 1st Year, 1st Semester): • Citizenship : Must be an Indian Citizen. • Qualification : Must have passed the Secondary / Madhyamik Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English, Physical Science / Science and Mathematics among others as subjects securing at least 35% marks (no rounding up)in aggregate as per AICTE norms, excluding the marks of the subject taken as additional. Candidates appearing in the Secondary / Madhyamik Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English, Physical Science/ Science and Mathematics among others as subjects may also apply. However conforming to the benchmark of 35% (no rounding up as per AICTE norms) in aggregate excluding the marks of the subjects taken as additional, is must, failing to which candidature is liable to be cancelled even after selection in JEXPO. • Age: At least 15 years and there is no upper age limit.

Through VOCLAT (Entry to the 2nd Year, 3rd Semester): • Citizenship : Must be an Indian Citizen. • Qualification : Must have passed or appeared the (10+2) Examination of the West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development or having passed two years ITI with Madhyamik or equivalent examination. Appeared candidates for ITI examination are not eligible for the VOCLAT Examination. Method of Counselling: All candidates are directed to keep in touch on regular basis with council website www.webscte.org for information in respect of counselling and admission. The process of counselling commences tentatively in June. SC, ST, PH, OBC-A, OBC-B candidates are required to produce cast certificate or Physically Challenged certificate or related Certificate in original issued by the competent authority of Government of West Bengal at the time of admission without which their claim for reserved seats will not be entertained. Candidate will have to take admission within the date mentioned in the allotment letter. Failure to take admission within the stipulated date will make the candidate ineligible for the offered seat and the vacant seat will be allotted to any other eligible candidate.

Reservation: • Reservation to Scheduled caste (SC), scheduled tribe(ST), physically challenged (PH), other backward classes (OBC –A/B) are applicable for admission as per government norms. • District Quota (DQ): 20% of the seats in polytechnic in each district is reserved for the candidates of the respective district, provided he/she must pass Madhyamik or Equivalent examination from the district for which he/ she claiming the reservation. In case of non-availability of candidates in district quota, the vacant seats will be treated as state quota. • Female Quota (FQ): Out of the seats in district quota 25% is reserved for female candidates for that specific district. In case of non-availability of candidates in district quota, the vacant seats will be treated as normal seats of respective category. • Land Loser Quota (LLQ): Persons whose land has been acquired by the government for Public Interest and who possess proper certificate from competent Government authority is eligible for reservation in 2% of the total seats of Govt. sponsored polytechnics. • Management Quota (MQ) : Council reserves 25% seats for self financed polytechnics. Not applicable for Falakata Polytechnic.

Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFW) • As per Government norms the economically backward meritorious students of all AICTE approved Govt. and Govt. sponsored polytechnics of the state of West Bengal is eligible for Tuition fee waiver (TFW) scheme. Upto 5% of the sanctioned intake per course will be made available in the scheme. The waiver is limited to tuition fee only.

• Eligibility: Students who have been merit listed in the JEXPO conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development, whose annual family income from all sources in the preceding financial year is less than Rs. 2.5 lakhs (This limit may change time to time) only who are domiciled in West Bengal are eligible for availing TFW scheme.

13. List of Applicants List of candidate whose applications have been received along with percentile/percentage score for each of the qualifying examination in separate categories for open seats is maintained and displayed on the council website. Institute admits students as per recommendation of council through counselling process.

Management quota seats dose not exists in Falakata Polytechnic.
