China Everbright Limited has successfully accomplished the 100km Oxfam Trailwalker fundraising event

17-18 November 2017 – China Everbright Limited (“CEL”, stock code: 165.HK) broke its own record and successfully accomplished the 100km Oxfam Trailwalker fundraising event in 28 hours 44 minutes!

Last year, CEL’s CEO Chen Shuang led his team to complete the 100km trail in 29 hours 51 minutes successfully. This year, CEL has delegated two teams to participate in Oxfam Trailwalker 2017. Team 1 with members including Marcus Li from Operations Department, Kelvin Poon and Xu Yifan from Overseas Infrastructure Fund and Eric So from Legal, Compliance and Company Secretarial Department; Team 2 with members including Vincent Zhao from IT Department and Eddie Lau and Vincent To from Finance Department and Gordon Wong from Risk Department . They finished the 100km trail with 28 hours 44 minutes and 35 hours 46 minutes respectively. Team 1 broke its record and was 1 hour 7 minutes faster than last year.

On 17th, the CEL trailwalker teams and cheering team arrived at Pak Tam Chung, the starting point at 9am to get prepared for the event. The trailwalkers were all thrilled and excited at the starting point. The run started at 11am, the trailwalkers have to go through 9 checkpoints from the starting point to the finishing point at Yuen Long Jockey Club Tai Tong Holiday Camp. Supporting crews provided dedicated support, nutritious food and beverage, as well as endless motivation to the team at 5 different checkpoints. CEO Chen Shuang joined the trailwalker team at MacLehose Trail Section 7, Deputy CFO Harry Wang and Chen Xi from CEO Office joined at Section 9 respectively to walk together to the finishing point with Team 1. During the journey, the trailwalkers have experienced many difficulties and challenges such as heavy rain, strong sun exposure, injury, extremely tiredness and frustration. However, with their determination, courage and team spirit, they completed the 100km with a new record of 28 hours 44 minutes. The team crossed the finishing line with high morale. It was a moment full of sweats and laughter. Team 2 took 35 hours 46 minutes to complete the trail, their determination and spirit are worth learning as well.
